You know those little things in life that people like to morally police and make you feel guilty about but you just can't muster up the shit to give?

This is a confession thread. I'll start.

I don't give a shit that you supposedly shouldn't feed bread to ducks. I don't care. Don't eat it then. People have been feeding them bread for decades and now we're supposed to bring them organic bloody walnuts or something? Or some other crap they don't want that doesn't float?
They can have my slightly mouldy bread and be grateful.

Over to you.

  • nurses pay. Most nurses i know are on good salaries, living in large houses etc, good benefits. Better pay than the majority of people and also get discounts off their shops. Yes they worked through the pandemic, this was the job they signed up for. You cant have a career in nursing and them complain when theres an illness. The strikes are greedy.
  • tipping restaurant staff. They get paid a wage like everyone else, why is it expected to give them extra for doing a job they are paid to do? My sister used to work in a bar and she was on a lot more than minimum wage because she got so many tips, which was untaxed.

Yes!

Nails. I keep mine clean and neat by washing regularly and cleaning. I don’t understand at all why going to a nail parlour to have them gelled or faffed about with is in any way a grooming essential yet alone ‘attractive’

I am a researcher. I started an academic study about this. I had over 150 participants ( 90 female and 60 male). Majority of women thought that nail grooming was an important part of female attractiveness and defined this a regular (once a month or more) nail shaping and polishing. 0 % of men considered this as an important part of grooming. In fact we redesigned the study to see if men noticed this aspect of female grooming at all. We asked 279 men what they identified as attractive in a woman, using photos with manicured/un manicured women. Not one man noticed or cared what women’s nails looked like. None.

My nails are always cleaned and shaped but the idea that ‘manicured’ nails are attractive is totally constructed to gain customers. In RL men are not in the least interested or attracted to women who fuss about their nails.

I have never ever met a man who gives a monkey's about nails but it's good to have that confirmed by science

watermelonsugar56 · 01/06/2024 07:41

Yes nails!! I second that I really DGAF about that and haven’t enjoyed getting them done on the rare occasion I have. Something else to waste money on but each to their own.

betterangels · 01/06/2024 07:42

I don't tip, I really don't care. Not my responsibility to prop other people's earnings.

I’m an age where friends are starting to have grandchildren.

I have zero interest in seeing photos of those grandchildren or talking about them but try to act interested.

I was about to say much the same. I saw a friend a few days ago and we'd barely sat down in the pub when her phone was out and I was having to admire her bloody grandchildren. I mean, they're cute but I barely know them and I don't need a ten minute disquisition on the older one's imaginary world and the lovely pictures he draws of it (he's five, he draws like a 5 yr old).

Also not interested in slebs, most sport, and getting my finger nails done.

Pandas.

They aren’t that bothered about continuing their own species so why should we care. They refuse to have sex with each other and have to eat about four times their own body weight per day. It’s unsustainable! Let them go extinct!

Ooof you monster! Pandas are beautiful amazing creatures 🐼🖕🏼

Loveriver · 01/06/2024 07:43

My mother thinks I should give a shit about my exes whereabouts and family. Why should I? Left that behind when we split

Laurama91 · 01/06/2024 07:43

I've only read first page maybe this isntcabout ducks anymore 😂 but..... bread is like junk food for ducks. We feed bird seed and mealworms. They love it. You can also buy duck biscuits that float on water.

Eeek I sound callous but I don't care about overseas charities (unless animal ones)

Food recycling (I recycle the other stuff)

Other people's kids, pets, holidays or house prices

The fact my kids do not have any special hobbies or clubs they go to,

What other people are wearing for nights out / Christmas / weddings etc

Flushing loo paper down the loo when in certain countries asking to use the bin

Agree with the above - but not the blocked pipes by chucking toilet paper down the loo in countries whose plumbing systems can't cope with toilet paper

Mental health

I was just coming on here to say the same thing! 'I have aaaanxiety!' is all I seem to hear from the whining twenty-somethings at work. 'I need a day off for my mental heeeeaaaalth!'. Get a fucking grip.

I'm expecting to be shouted down for this as MN is full of stressed, anxious petals who spend far too much time looking for things to offend them and trigger their 'mental health'.

Eminybob · 01/06/2024 03:01

God yes. It seems so so many (I'd say couples, but it is so frequently overwhelmingly the bride) completely lose sight of what they are actually doing and why.
Celebrate your union with family and friends? Yes please.
Spend tens of thousands of pounds, force your guests to pay hundreds, dress codes, tears, tantrums, politics? Not for me.

I absolutely agree. I came here to say weddings but I will include marriage in this too

If you want to start a thread like this I probably wouldn’t have used innocent wildlife as your target; you deserve to be criticised. That’s an awful thing to confess to and isn’t in anyway lighthearted. You and anyone else who think it’s funny to kill is such a high handed way are truly awful.

thisisreallygross · 01/06/2024 07:47

And some people say I have mental health, like they are scared of saying mental illness

RadioGaGaRadioGooGoo · 01/06/2024 07:47

Couldn't give a shit about politics and who runs the country - couldn't tell you who my local MP is or whatever.

AgathaAllAlong · 01/06/2024 07:47

I don't care about your dog. I don't care if he's a good boy, if he's more afraid of us than we are of him, if she just has a bark on her but won't hurt us. I don't want to talk to your dog, have it near me or pet it. I definitely aren't going to laugh along good naturedly when it jumps up at my DC.

I also don't care about transwomen in shared spaces. I understand that other women do and so am glad to fight for single sex spaces for those women, but I personally don't care.

The "problematic" stuff people insist on "calling out" in old books or films or TV series. I just want to enjoy some nostalgia in peace without taking on other people's angst.

I agree - it's beyond boring. I will watch/read whatever I want, and take what I want from it, I don't need other people policing it for me. If they don't like it then they needn't watch/read it, but I don't want to hear their opinions.

It's the talking about it ALL the time that gets me. "You know what I mean?" Yep... yep I do, but to be honest my heap of fucks-to-give ran out 3 hours ago.

tuvamoodyson · 01/06/2024 07:50

I don’t care if people choose private education/health care. If I need my hip replaced and I can afford private healthcare, then I’ll pay for it, likewise cataracts/knee replacements/scans etc. it’s my money, I’ll choose how I spend it.

I don’t lie awake at night, worried to death about climate change…I just don’t care.

I don’t care if not invited to your wedding/milestone birthday party…I’m actually quite pleased I don’t have to go…

Over to you.

The other problem with feeding ducks bread is that any that isn't eaten will rot and cause eutrophication of the river/lake/stream.

And that is a problem for all the other plant and animal life living there as it means less oxygen in the water leading to their deaths.

Please stop doing it!

Why do you people swear so much

In general, I'm suspicious of non swearers.

I think this is, by and far, the greatest chain I've ever read 😂😂😂
P.s yeah, don't give them mouldy bread but do what the hell you want in life!
