You know those little things in life that people like to morally police and make you feel guilty about but you just can't muster up the shit to give?

This is a confession thread. I'll start.

I don't give a shit that you supposedly shouldn't feed bread to ducks. I don't care. Don't eat it then. People have been feeding them bread for decades and now we're supposed to bring them organic bloody walnuts or something? Or some other crap they don't want that doesn't float?
They can have my slightly mouldy bread and be grateful.

Over to you.

Yeah this is not going to go the way you want it to OP. Most people don't have any interest in bragging about the ways in which they are selfish and ignorant.

Except 36% of people think OP is not being unreasonable

Yes, that is true. BUT, when they aren't given permission to be there, we will know when a man comes in to the women's bathroom that it is wrong, and we won't be the ones arrested because we felt in danger.

The trope of "men who want to sexually abuse women in toilets won't stop because of a sign", is tiring. Don't allow men in there and we will know when we need to be aware.

It’s also the case that in the 10 years that this has been a seemingly major issue I have not once encountered a male identifying as female in a toilet, changing room, doctors surgery, hospital or anywhere else. It’s really not something that affects my life in the slightest and I’d be very surprised if it genuinely affects the lives of those who are obsessed with it either.

YoureALizardHarry11 · 01/06/2024 07:04

I totally get people’s worries about the whole trans men in women’s toilets thing because when you think of it as a free for all without challenge then it is concerning, but also on the other hand, make up and medical interventions are so good now there’s a fair chance we’ve all bumped into a trans man in a women’s space or otherwise and not even realised. Some of them I see online look like more of a woman than I do 🤣🤣🤣. It’s going to be very hard to actually police in the end anyway, beyond the obvious ones.

rookiemere · 01/06/2024 07:04

Hopefully a non controversial one.
Housing renovations or remodels. Any spare funds I have go on holidays <see previous post> I scarcely care what our house looks like as long as it is hygienic and not a death trap, so the chances of me having any interest in other people getting their bathrooms done is very slim. A very dear friend who I run with got her kitchen done a year or so ago and it was absolute torture having to feign an interest in the damn thing on an ongoing basis.

Palestine/Israel

I know it sounds awful, but I'm the same now. I watch a lot of news, and it gets to the point where I just switch off. I experienced the same with Ukraine. I couldn't watch/ listen anymore. It says a lot about the privilege of not having to live in a warzone, but that's what it is

Neither have I!

can’t understand this MN obsession at all

I don't care if people vape near me. I don't care that my neighbour plays music in the garden and has bought a hot tub.
I don't care that there are a minority of people who have never worked because they don't want to. They're a drop in the ocean, and forcing them into work would cause more trouble and cost than its worth.
I don't care if people think MN is 'misandrist' or that a few men might get offended if when talking about male violence we forget to say 'some' men. They know what we mean.
I don't care about anyone who would feel 'safer, more comfortable and authentic' using spaces not intended for their sex.
I don't care if your SPAG isn't perfect or you write 'should of' as long as I understand you, it's your opinion that counts not your literacy prowess.
I don't care if my bra straps show in a vest top.

Who wins any football match ever, even if it is England/Scotland/women.
I don’t care about some people kicking a ball around.

This! Which is a challenge as my DH is absolutely obsessed, DSS plays for a professional team and the entire family on that side gather together for any "important" game. Last time England got knocked out of a big tournament (World Cup maybe?! 🤪) DH was so devastated he took a walk along the shore barefoot and when he returned was knee deep in gross mud. I stepped outside to find his 80 year old Nan washing his feet on the decking with a bucket and sponge while comforting him, he was actually crying. Honestly, never been so baffled.
He took the next day off work and lay on the sofa with the dogs watching Netflix and not speaking. So weird...

My shit is the amount of recycling we have to do. I do it most of the time but some days as soon as I’ve taken it all out there’s another pile of junk mail or packaging and I hate the cardboard food packets that have a cellophane sheet stuck on. I’m about to have a fridge clear out so all the empty jars will need emptying out and washing. Sometimes I just put it all in general waste - at least here it’s then incinerated for a combined heat and power scheme and not sent to landfill

KateDelRick · 01/06/2024 07:09

@Mumofyellows it's too weird, isn't it?
Still he's better than those blokes who get into a massive fight about it, destroy property, terrify people and alert the riot police.

This thread 😂 🦆 I don’t care either. I have them chopped grapes once and they ignored it and just swam towards a family with bread. It’s fine. I also give the manky bits of DDs toast to a crow on our lawn who seems most happy with this arrangement.

Crows remember people, and pass this information on to their descendants. One day as an adult your DD will be in a pickle somewhere and this crow's grandchildren (grandchicks?) will help her out. You've invested well in her future.

I don’t care about men in women’s toilets

Yeah, I'm not bothered about men in women's toilets (Mumsnet heresy, I know) - though older boys brought in by mothers bothers me as they stare and stare

leafybrew · 01/06/2024 07:11

EarringsandLipstick · 31/05/2024 23:07

Do you find reading difficult?

No, do you find comprehension difficult?

How would anyone sane not care about a man in a woman's toilet?

I agree - and I'm sane.

ballroompink · 01/06/2024 07:11

Drivers moaning about ULEZ and walkable cities and similar. I don't drive, don't care.

Animal charities.

Places being dog-friendly. I don't mind dogs. But I don't want shops, restaurants, outdoor spaces and tourist attractions to be full of them.

Taylor Swift

Rear-facing car seat discourse

Breastfeeding/bottle-feeding discourse. Happily breastfed my DCs; have no interest in anyone else's choices, telling other people what to do, justifying my own choice on that front, or talking cautiously about any of it so as not ro upset anyone who might have had a different experience. Thankfully DCs are older now so it's not a topic I naturally get involved in any more.

KateDelRick · 01/06/2024 07:11

I don't care about engagement pictures or how he produced a white gold solitaire then went down on one knee and found the perfect sunset or whatever. It's 2024 decide to get married or not, I don't care about your performative nonsense.

sunhasgothishat · 01/06/2024 07:13

What my body looks like. I used to when I was younger, but now I just feel grateful that it's all working well. I love that feeling of climbing up a big hill on my strong legs and feeling my heart pumping away.

A friend of mine just posted online a photo of her ten years ago and some statement about how she hates the body she's now trapped in (which is perfectly fine btw, she's about a size 12 and perfectly healthy!) It made me realise I haven't scrutinised my body in a long time.

PossumintheHouse · 01/06/2024 07:14

Celebrities. I do not give a shiny shit about any celebrity. Couldn't give a toss if one of them died. Unless I personally knew them, of course.

School uniforms, attendance. My kids have done fine being taken out fir holidays. And uniform, what a bloody farce.

MsOrMrs · 01/06/2024 07:16

I don't care about all the IT issues where I work. I can't control it, it's got nothing to do with me and I'm sick of hearing everyone freaking out about it. I do not give a fuck.

Epidote · 01/06/2024 07:17

Social media in general. I don't mind it but I never posted anything on Facebook, Instagram etc. I found it boring.
School apps, why I have to take a photo of my DD reading a book, she just read it. Is not a big deal in my mind.

Eat out/takeaways, I can enjoy a good restaurant or order a takeaway twice a year. Not bother.

Travelling, I would glady visit every safe country of the world in a Tardis. Long journeys just make the destination less appealing to me.

Sports in general, if I don't play them what is the pleasure of watching them.

Wonkywinky · 01/06/2024 07:17

Sport
I just have zero interest.

Religion as well. Completely messed with my head that sane people believe things I find implausible.

Whycantiwinmillionsandsquillions · 01/06/2024 07:18

I don’t care if people who voted Tory cannot access the NHS. I really, really don’t. It serves you right.
I don’t care if you supposedly cannot afford to feed your children either if you spend money on any of the following: a huge car, having lip fillers/Botox/ false eyelashes/have your nails done/pay someone else to clean your car/do any housework for you/designer clothes-including branded sportswear for your children and you.
Maybe if you cut down on the above you could afford to buy food.
