To be fed up of wearing jumpers and fleeces

So here we are, southern England, end of May and after a glorious, warm and sunny start today it's yet again back to overcast and cold thanks to the north easterly wind direction. I'm feeling cold so have changed out of a summery dress into jeans and a light jumper.

I'd rather be feeling chilly and needing to get warm rather than too hot and needing to cool down, and I definitely don't want another 40c heatwave as per 2022, but I wish we could have some warm sunshine for more than just a day at a time.

The jet stream and climate really is fucked up these days.

SW England here, hot and sunny all day. Definitely shorts and t-shirt weather.

It's weather, rather than climate.

Ryeman · 31/05/2024 17:10

YANBU. I’m Home Counties and it’s really chilly today, wind coming directly from the north and no sun at all 🙄

DoesNotPlayWellWithIdiots · 31/05/2024 17:19

East Anglia here and it's dull, bloody cold and windy. It pissed down all night and until around 11am. I'm absolutely sick to the back teeth of it, especially because I work outside. I'm still wearing boots and a coat to work whereas I'm usually in t-shirts and sandals by now! Oh and our heating is still on.

BasilParsley · 31/05/2024 17:19

S coast on the cusp of SW coast. The wind is cruel and the sun isn't do much to warm things up. I've just lit the wood burner. Again...

SophieJo · 31/05/2024 17:21

North West here. Some sunshine but mainly cloudy and cool. Sitting with my winter fur boots and a throw determined not to put the heating on.

Kneeslikethese · 31/05/2024 17:22

I'm in Chester, it's been lovely all day, shorts and tshit weather here.

thehousewiththesagegreensofa · 31/05/2024 17:22

I've been jn my down filled coat today. I have put it away at least three times this year only to have to get it out again.
I had a ruthless sort out after Easter and threw a lot of jumpers which were bobbly or misshapen and donated some which I hadn't worn much to the charity shop as I don't like enough for them to warrant the storage space. This was done on the basis that, when the shops get all of their autumn wear in in August, I'd go & replenish the wardrobe. I actually need to do that now but no where really sells jumpers at this time of year!

I walked past a local charity shop the other day that had a window display of jumpers and coats. I was torn between being cross that it's still jumper / coat weather when it's almost June, and impressed that unlike clothes shops, they actually know how to cater for their target market. 😄

It’s cold today in London! The people in shorts and T-shirts what temperatures are you experiencing?

Fairyliz · 31/05/2024 17:29

I’m in the Midlands, got three layers on top, two of them wool and still had to put the fire on.

Tarkan · 31/05/2024 17:29

NE Scotland here and it's sunny and warm. I've actually got the fan going in the living room as I was roasting and opening the window didn't help. It's been a mixed week of rainy and sunny days though.

Womp · 31/05/2024 17:30

I've got my electric blanket on in Cambridgeshire. It's grey, windy and drizzly.

Low 20s.

Comedycook · 31/05/2024 17:40

It's been a vile week in London... drizzly, grey, chilly.

examsexamsexamsexams · 31/05/2024 17:42

Lots of people on the beach and in the sea in Devon!

EdithStourton · 31/05/2024 17:43

Walked the dogs in a fleece and an enormous raincoat.... And wellies.

100% fed up.

RampantIvy · 31/05/2024 17:44

How "hot" is it really where the shorts and T-shirt posters are?

I have been staying with DD on the North East Coast of England and finally succumbed to putting the heating on yesterday as we were so cold. Her heating even came on this morning as last night was so cold.

We finally made it to 15 degrees today, which is jumper weather for me.

Heelworkhero · 31/05/2024 17:46

Midlands here. Yesterday I was able to take my jumper off for an hour. Long sleeve underneath.
I was very excited!
Then we had several hours of really biblical torrential rain. Very localised to the area I’m in, but flooding in some areas and all the mud well and truly back!

FuzzyPuffling · 31/05/2024 17:48

It's low 20s here ( South Devon) . Apparently its a bit grim in Cornwall, which shows how localised it can be.
Everybody is out in their gardens, windows open, blue skies.
Sorry for all those who have rotten weather.

FlamingoFlamboyance · 31/05/2024 17:50

I'm in the midlands and have had the heating on today. It's half term so we've been home all day, no way are we going to be cold!

FuzzyPuffling · 31/05/2024 17:51

Just checked my max/min thermometer on the decking. Admittedly it's in the sun, ( so it doesn't count) but it says 35°!

Southwest12 · 31/05/2024 17:52

North Liverpool, has been 18c today and blue skies and sunshine. We sat in the garden for a few hours this afternoon, have been out all day in a t-shirt and short sleeved very thin cardigan.

Weegieunicorn · 31/05/2024 17:53

19 degrees here on Scotland. Taps aff weather here🌞

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 31/05/2024 17:53

I'm with you on this. To add insult to injury I'm off on a work trip soon and literally the only positive for me personally about it was that the weather would be better.......current forecast is to piss it down from the minute I land to the minute I take off then glorious sun and 28 degrees the day after I leave. Fucks sake!

Sahara123 · 31/05/2024 17:54

Strange isn’t it . Central Scotland here, still sitting in the garden now in my shorts ! Too hot earlier . Don’t knock Scottish weather I say !
