To be fed up of wearing jumpers and fleeces

So here we are, southern England, end of May and after a glorious, warm and sunny start today it's yet again back to overcast and cold thanks to the north easterly wind direction. I'm feeling cold so have changed out of a summery dress into jeans and a light jumper.

I'd rather be feeling chilly and needing to get warm rather than too hot and needing to cool down, and I definitely don't want another 40c heatwave as per 2022, but I wish we could have some warm sunshine for more than just a day at a time.

The jet stream and climate really is fucked up these days.

NE Scotland here and it's sunny and warm. I've actually got the fan going in the living room as I was roasting and opening the window didn't help. It's been a mixed week of rainy and sunny days though.

Lucky you! I’m east coast of Scotland and the bloody haar has rolled in….shirts and vest top till 3:30, now standard long trousers and sleeves 🙄

It’s cold today in London! The people in shorts and T-shirts what temperatures are you experiencing?

Yep it's awful here isn't here, started off drizzly and windy and been getting chillier all day thanks to the wind. I think the t shirts and shorts brigade must be on the windup or have unusually high core body temperatures

No wind up. It's been sunny and warm all day. Factor 50 weather.
It happens, you know!

RampantIvy · 31/05/2024 18:06

How warm is warm @FuzzyPuffling?

It would have to be over 22 degrees to get me in shorts.

Yes, it's been that today.
Lovely Devon!

It’s apparently 16 degrees here in Hampshire but feels much colder. I ended up putting in a warm sweatshirt and socks and hunted my slippers back out as I was so cold. The wind feels really cold.

It's been the same here today. It felt more like 12° with how gusty the wind was. I managed to get some washing on the line, (which is a nice change) but was worried it would fly away.

whyamisotiredallthetime · 31/05/2024 18:26

I opened all my windows and left them on the latches about a month ago

Usually they'd stay like till at least September

Oh my god .. I've been so cold now and then but refuse to close them all again or put the heating back on 😂🤭

Strange isn’t it . Central Scotland here, still sitting in the garden now in my shorts ! Too hot earlier . Don’t knock Scottish weather I say !

Given that the SE (where I live) usually grabs all the warm weather, I'm stupidly pleased for you!

MrsSkylerWhite · 31/05/2024 20:50

NW coast, been pretty warm/bordering on hot here all week. Another cloudless weekend predicted.

Lancrelady80 · 31/05/2024 20:56

Been on holiday in Kent. Packed light and breezy sun dresses, thick woolly jumpers and everything in between.

Have worn all of the above over the last week, though more of the medium - thick clothes.

Also had to work out how to put on the heating in the holiday cottage.

DappledThings · 31/05/2024 21:01

I was really happy to be still in jeans and a jumper today. Much prefer that to having to strip off layers to try and stay cool.

The rain is getting a little tedious but I'd be happy with it not getting over the 15/16 degrees it's been here all summer.

whoputallofthatthere · 31/05/2024 21:07

We're in East Kent. Grey skies and torrential rain today. We've actually got the heating on. Can't believe it's June tomorrow.

KnottyKnitting · 31/05/2024 21:09

Freezing in Essex. We have just put the heating back on. Absolutely fed up with this weather- First of June tomorrow FGS!

Scotland and Northern England seem to be getting the best of the weather lately!

North east Scotland but I’m from midlands. The locals are all in shorts and T-shirts saying it’s roasting at 17c. I’m in a long sleeve top and jeans. I’ve not acclimatised yet!

I would be happy with a mid 20s temperature during the summer months as I want to wear summer dresses, and get out of jeans and jumpers (and socks).

North West England. Newcastle and South Yorkshire have been chilly.

dottiedodah · 31/05/2024 21:41

Sunny Bournemouth here!. Sunny and warm .However really strong wind bringing down temps. Jumper and body warmer on for me!

Thank you ! We’ve had heavy rain too but some beautiful days

Meredusoleil · 31/05/2024 21:46

Sitting under a fleece blanket watching BGT now. Can't believe how flipping cold it's been today. And dark and grey. Actually thought it was Autumn already 😳

BigDahliaFan · 31/05/2024 21:53

Ive worn shorts for precisely 3 days so far this year. Was at a party this evening by the beach but in a building, I had thermals on underneath my nice trousers and top and a padded jacket. Still fucking freezing.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 31/05/2024 21:56

Pretty warm and sunny here today. I'm in Cumbria!

Decafflatteplease · 31/05/2024 22:02

Sat here shivering in tracksuit, dressing gown and fleece blanket! Would rather be too cold than too hot though! Dreading if there's another heatwave this year!

Same here in regards to a heatwave and rather being too cold than too hot.

I'm not. I would like some hot weather, but I don't live in a south facing flat in a city with no outside space.
