To ask what your children would be called if they could choose their own name?

Inspired by the current thread about names, I thought I'd ask what your DC would like to be called if they could choose their own name?

My DC have always been OK with their names but I used to babysit for a little girl called Emily who was desperate to change her name to Angela.

Mine is only a toddler. He'd probably say 'T-rex'.

Merluzzo · 28/05/2024 17:17

Mowgli

Caravaggiouch · 28/05/2024 17:20

DD told me recently she wants to change her name to Isabel. I’ve got no idea why.

Laiste · 28/05/2024 17:21

Asked DD (10). She thought long and hard about it and said ... My own name really ...

which is nice 😃

Laiste · 28/05/2024 17:22

I don't mean her name is Nice, by the way.
I mean it's nice she likes her name!

CultOfRamen · 28/05/2024 17:24

I used to introduce myself as Angela Rachel Sarah Clare when I was five because those were the names I wanted and I couldn’t pick 😂😂

my daughter sometimes says she wishes she was her middle name (named after exMIL). But my exMIL is awful so absolutely not 🤣

LateMumma · 28/05/2024 17:24

Jackie apparently!

Blackcountryexile · 28/05/2024 17:26

Back in the day DD was cross that we hadn't named her Sophie!

WhatWillAPearDoAtNight · 28/05/2024 17:32

Marina.

Her name is Marina 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've just asked my adult son what he'd be called if it was his choice
He said " Tefal " as he'd identify as a frying pan

ReadtheReviews · 28/05/2024 17:35

Belle or Rose apparently. Never in the running. The 3 year old would be Sparkleshot.

My toddler is called Rex! But would probably choose Blippi Grin

RuthW · 28/05/2024 17:41

I've just asked my 27 year old.

See said what she already had. I did well.

ohheckwhatnow · 28/05/2024 17:48

Just asked DS11, he would be called James. He didn't even have to think about it, who knows where that has come from. It was never even a consideration.

sleekcat · 28/05/2024 18:18

My son is in his twenties now but when he was around 9/10 he said he wished he was called Jack. No idea what he thinks now but Jack was one of the most popular names and we'd chosen a name that is nice but much less popular so I guess he didn't want to be different!

JennyForeigner · 28/05/2024 18:20

Poo.

(He's four)

NisekoWhistler · 28/05/2024 18:23

My 7yo not many weeks ago said "How did you know I'd like the name x?" 😂 clearly he's happy with it, for now.

SparrowNest15 · 28/05/2024 18:25

Just asked my 8 year old and he said his own name because it is “ a brilliant name”.

Fudgetheparrot · 28/05/2024 18:30

Evie, like the girl from Waffle the Wonder Dog.

As a child mine was Esmerelda!

Rex is an awesome name!
I was also going to say possibly Blippi too!!

Raspberrysoup · 28/05/2024 20:19

Aw it's good that there are so many children who are happy with their name.

My 5 year old dd would say Matilda my 4 year old ds would choose to be called pongo 😂

Cattenberg · 28/05/2024 20:24

Mine changes her mind on a weekly basis. Last week’s favourite name was Amelia. This week she wishes she’d been named Ingrid.

Butchyrestingface · 28/05/2024 20:34

I wanted to be called 'Dora' when I was 8. Thought it was so ... exotic. Grin

ILoveSleeping · 28/05/2024 20:41

Elsa 😂
