Inspired by the current thread about names, I thought I'd ask what your DC would like to be called if they could choose their own name?

My DC have always been OK with their names but I used to babysit for a little girl called Emily who was desperate to change her name to Angela.

My 11 year old's nickname at school is Nathaniel, which he likes. His name is Nathan. We named him Nathan as we thought it would be shortened to that anyway. I kind of assumed that he might get Nate, which I think is a pretty cool name, but nope, it's been lengthened. Go figure.

Daughter wants to be called Scarlett, it's totally not the sort of name I even thought of when thinking about baby names. She does go by one of her middle names though, which is nice.

Son chose his first name, I'm not mad keen on it but I like why he chose it.

I wanted a host of other names. I still don't go by my birth name.

I asked mine
My 5yo would be called "Kitty Cat Unicorn"
And my 9yo would be called "Richard" 🤣

I used to want to be called Anya

Now I have a secret love for hopelessly impractical names like Anastasia and Esperanza.

DS8 says he would keep his name as it's cool.

DD4 says there is a name she likes better but she can't remember what it is.

I used to like the names Heidi and Bethany and insisted my sister had to be Bethany.

I also wanted to be Scottish so instructed my (younger) sister we had to speak with a Scottish accent 😂.

Mine wanted to be called Emily. Now as a young adult she goes by what to me is quite a silly cutesy name but I won't say what it is in case she's on here!

In our 20s a friend used to tell people she met in clubs her name was Courtney Thorne Smythe. She was called Anita

Middle DD says Persephone (it was on the shortlist) and the other says she would like my youngests middle name or something like it (GoT name).

My son wanted to be called Spiderman at the age of 6

Ds would be called DJ (his middle and last name initials)
Dd often says "my new name is rose"
