To ask your filthy guilty pleasure food

The cake thread got me thinking - what’s your guilty pleasure food? Something that you objectively know is total rubbish but which you can’t get enough of.

I hold my hands up to liking chicken and sweetcorn pot noodles. I very very rarely have one but just occasionally, I do get the urge.

Also, dirt cheap takeaway pizza. The kind with non-specific tasteless cheese and tomato puree.

Fried chicken and chips with curry sauce from the local chip shop.
I feel really guilty eating it but as I only have it once a month, frankly I don't care 😁

Cantonet · 29/05/2024 19:41

I've got a weird one.
Good vanilla ice cream with caramelised sesame breadcrumbs & a drizzle of high quality extra virgin olive oil.
It really works - from a new cook book.

@drspouse and @Jeannne92 thank you so much! Those are the ones! I have found a place I can order them from online!

Sleepytiredyawn · 29/05/2024 20:09

I do get told I’m a minger when I have a jam and crisp butty. Any flavour crisps, I’m not fussy 😋

Rockhopper81 · 29/05/2024 20:24

Bacon super noodles on white bread and butter - a noodle sandwich, if you will.

Serious carb overload, and the noodles have an objectively crap bacon taste on their own, but my goodness sometimes it's just what's needed to make things right!

Never eater tinned curry, but I'm contemplating a trip to Sainsbury's to remedy this...

Mine is a "sharing" (not likely) bag of Sainsbury's onion rings all to myself- the filthy bit is licking the dust from the inside of the bag once the rings are gone. I really just want a bag of the oniony dust...

M&S do a hot beef curry in a tin, it's delicious! With white bread and butter to dunk in 😋

Buttered hobnob

I need to try this immediately.

MadeInYorkshire69 · 29/05/2024 20:33

A supermarket chicken tikka masala on top of oven chips.
Spicy ramen noodles with battered chicken pieces floating in it
Heinz tomato soup with cheesy crumpets
Home alone dinners . Jumbo delish

Oh my god this! I used to do this in my teens with the chicken flavour. So bad but sooo good.
Being an 80s child/90s teen you always had a slice of bread and butter with dinner and made a sandwich of whatever you had (mainly beige food from the deep fat fryer!) Would still eat a Bernard Matthews mini Kiev sandwich now

Cheese.

Sometimes cheese is my
Whole meal.

follow a low carb/ketogenic way of eating and a dinner of just cheese wouldn’t be a guilty pleasure!

Christine1998 · 29/05/2024 20:43

Fray bentos pie. Tinned meatballs. (Not together 😂) with chips 🤣

Lostincyberspace · 29/05/2024 20:44

Salmon and shrimp paste on white bread. Takes me straight back to childhood!

Rockhopper81 · 29/05/2024 20:49

@howliscream

Yes, a 'dinner sandwich'! With a bit of everything from the dinner (plenty of beige, and usually beans or peas!) on it, generally saved until the end to be eaten...ah, the 80s/90s were a different time...I'm kind of fancying sausage, beans and chips on a piece of bread and butter now...

Auburngal · 29/05/2024 20:59

Sriracha sauce on eggs.

alloutofcareunits · 29/05/2024 21:04

Thick white bread, lurpak, and a packet of Frazzles crisps made into a sandwich 😋

HarryGrotter · 29/05/2024 21:17

Left over mash and veg, fried in butter with thickly buttered white bread and brown sauce, which must be hp or hp fruity

You did not understand the assignment

I can't believe I'm about to admit this but in my deepest, darkest times I open a tin of hotdogs and dip the hotdogs in the brine and eat them cold.

But this nothing on my Mum, who as a child ate raw Irish sausages dipped in sugar and still gets a wistful look in her eye when we marvel how she survived (she is Irish so the sausages had to be Irish, otherwise they didn't taste right, those RAW sausages).

Chembabe · 29/05/2024 21:54

Ex-Canadian resident here. Poutine. Looks disgusting tastes like heaven.

Auburngal · 29/05/2024 22:00

Chips with cocktail sausages, plastic cheese slices and mayo.

Normally I only like decent cheese and sausages with a high meat content.

Completelydonechick · 29/05/2024 22:07

Crisps! That is all!

iAmBarbara · 29/05/2024 22:10

large tub of cottage cheese (on its own) with gherkins and lots of black olives on the side. Dh thinks this is absolutely disgusting

also baked beans on white basmati rice, topped with a ton of grated cheddar

Fluffmum · 29/05/2024 22:28

Tinned Heinz spaghetti on thick white bread with loads of butter. Banging

ALongHardWinter · 29/05/2024 22:29

Does a double quarter pounder and fries from McDonald's count?

andmoreagain · 29/05/2024 22:32

Go to used to always be a spicy beanburger from Burger King. They brought them back recently and I was in heaven until they bloody well discontinued them again. Also a "slut for cheese" (is there a support group out there?) and can't resist chips and cheese topped with jalapeno poppers from the chippy!
