To ask your filthy guilty pleasure food

The cake thread got me thinking - what’s your guilty pleasure food? Something that you objectively know is total rubbish but which you can’t get enough of.

I hold my hands up to liking chicken and sweetcorn pot noodles. I very very rarely have one but just occasionally, I do get the urge.

Also, dirt cheap takeaway pizza. The kind with non-specific tasteless cheese and tomato puree.

Tinned tuna
Straight out of the tin and standing up by kitchen sink
Pure bliss

Are you me? I pour some olive oil on the top.

mamaandbabas · 29/05/2024 22:38

Tinned, meat pie (think Fray Bentos), ready made mash potato and baked beans. 1970's vibe and delicious.

Oh yes, haven't had a fray bentos in years but they're delicious. Also love heinz tinned spaghetti bolognaise on toast.

I was thinking this the other week. I used to adore certain things, e.g. spicy crisps and dairy milk. Now I find I don't love anything anymore! Last night I had a piece of dairy milk, and thought that's nice. But I didn't love it or want any more. Anyone else find this happen to them too?

Yes but I think this is because I'm about savoury filth and nowadays more and more sugar and sweeteners are added by manufacturers which ruins it for me as all I can taste is sugar. Tried to have a dinner of onion rings this evening but were far too sweet, ditto ritz crackers and even non sourdough bread is too sweet. Biscuits and crisps also have a weirdly overly sweet flavour these days, so ginger nuts are a thing of the past. It basically means I only eat wanky sourdough, spanish olive oil crisps and the like which is too expensive and poncy to qualify as filth. I'd give toast and dripping a go though, haven't had that in decades

Cheap burgers, especially from a burger van or a hot dog.. literally cannot pass a burger van at side of the road without my stomach shouting I need one! Oh and it's got to have no cheese and brown sauce. Hot dog, no onions just loads of ketchup.
At home, thick white bread with butter, primula and bacon crisps 😋 or tinned chopped pork with sandwich spread

A sharing bag of lightly salted kettle chips dipped in onion & garlic dip

JudgeJ · 29/05/2024 22:53

Duck spring rolls with sweet chilli sauce, air fryers were made for this!

Womblealongwithme · 29/05/2024 22:53

I eat very healthily most of the time and try very hard to eat nutritious food (stomach issues). My guilty pleasure is a Fray Bentos beef pie. I know, I am disgusting and should be ashamed of myself ...

Oh god yes.

Corned beef and onion sandwich.

Yes, corned beef and raw onion on either a baguette or nice seedy bread.

PippEmma · 29/05/2024 23:00

Cornflakes with cold custard!!!! It started as a pregnancy craving but I still have the odd bowl 30 years later???

SnobblyBobbly · 29/05/2024 23:07

Buttered crumpets with Maple Syrup.

Mt61 · 29/05/2024 23:53

Proper home made cod fish finger butty, on home made white bread & lashings of salted butter, delicious 😋

TiredWired · 30/05/2024 00:10

A butter sandwich- slice salty butter as thick as you would cheese, put between any type of bread. No other fillings needed

Also just slices of butter on its own 😂

hellywelly3 · 30/05/2024 00:12

Baked beans straight from the tin with a spoon

Auburngal · 30/05/2024 05:51

My DHs food of choice if I'm ever away!

Endlessfun · 30/05/2024 06:34

Doughnuts. Not ring ones, they're boring - jam or cream ones preferably. I can manage 3, but usually manage to stop at 2.

kennycat · 30/05/2024 08:23

Mushy peas in a sandwich

kennycat · 30/05/2024 08:24

Toast and jam with custard and tinned peaches, in a bowl, cut up, warm and delicious when you fancy a pudding but want to be relatively healthy.

MrsClatterbuck · 30/05/2024 08:51

A cheese burger with pineapple and fried onions none of these raw onions malarkey from a particular chippy. Absolute heaven. I once had 2 and didn't bother with the chips we no longer live near it but occasionally are by that way and stop for a burger. We deliberately went a couple of times during lockdown.
My other guilty pleasure is chicken thighs from a local chicken fast food chain maybe once a month. Not KFC haven't had anything from there for at least 20 years.

BlueFlowers5 · 30/05/2024 09:00

Chips from a chip shop. Made into freshly buttered bread chip butties.

Salt and vinegar therein.

Or chocolate cookies...

Secondbreakfastclub · 30/05/2024 09:08

Cheese and broccoli Pasta n Sauce. I hide it at the back of the cupboard and eat it when no one’s around.

Soosi · 30/05/2024 09:20

BigDahliaFan · 30/05/2024 09:29
