My mum's first husband had a whole other secret family while they were married, including two kids.

I know someone like this! Well, I know the secret family. The mum has been with her partner for nearly 40 years, 3 kids, several grandchildren. He has a wife and another family in a different county. The secret family know about the wife and kids, but the wife and kids don't know about the secret family.

Went to college with a young man who was a compulsive liar. It was constant but the only one I can remember now is that he swam to Cuba. From Morecambe. He took a lilo with him to allow for rest breaks.

I once worked on a team where someone under me clearly resented me as she wanted my job despite not having the skills for it. A few years later I worked elsewhere and was on the interview panel for new employees. In she came with my job on her CV for the dates I had done it.

Ex told me he was moving a few miles away to live nearer his daughter. Obviously no problem with that, and we agreed we’d still see each other every week.

Three days later I got a text saying “I’ve actually moved to Asia and I never want to see you again”

When I was age 10, over 30 years ago - a girl in the year above told us she was pregnant with Gary Barlows younger brothers baby - his brother was also called Gary Barlow.

Used to be friends with a guy, he Had recently told us his dad had died , we supported him entirely and did a lot to be there for him for weeks and weeks. One night he hosted a bit of a gathering (at his mums) for his birthday… his mum came into the garden with a card ‘here you are ur dads dropped this off , he said he will see you in the week’ … the silence was loud!!!!

he also kept up about a heart condition for a LONG time…. Until one of us asked his mum how he was after his recent hospital visit and she was perplexed . He then denied ever mentioning it …

I got texts from the bloke I was seeing, pretending not to be the bloke I was seeing, warning me off the bloke I was seeing. I think he was trying to inflame my passion by pretending there were loads of women after him.

I knew it was him because he couldn't spell or punctuate to save his life & in exactly the same way in both "identities". I told him he was a good shag but I was a tad too intelligent for the laughable pretence. He was so hurt that I knew the texts were from him & how. And no, Dean, the "other woman" wasn't dyslexic & neither were you. You jus cudnt spel fir sheet!

Another one from dsis her cat was very poorly told me she had put his vet bills on her credit card messaged me in work he had taken a turn for the worse and needed to be pts she was due to go on holiday the following day could i transfer her the money to have him pts £900 which I thought was a lot to be pts but as I was supposed to be looking after the cat while she was away so I transferred the money spoke to dm that day how sad it was about Dcat she had paid the vets directly my money was obviously her holiday spends

he went roughly at 10pm and didn't come back

I'm all night contacting police and hospitals as mobile was switched off
FIL even went to McDonalds to see if he was served(rural Welsh village so staff knows him)he wasn't
his mothers going spare as he's a only child(adopted child as well)
his dads driving all night to try and find him
at the time PIL were 72

in reality by half 11 he moved in with my ex friend
she lives a 40 min drive away

she was contacted to see if she's seen or heard from ex and said no and told me she just had a row with her fiancée and has chucked him out
the whole time he was sat there

next morning PIL was contacted to say he's now moved in with her
they are engaged, trying for a baby and by 11am has moved all his money from my claim to hers(UC, carers allowance as we are 24/7 carers to disabled kids)as i get the same it didn't mess me up money wise as the claim was in my name he was just added on

he left with nothing but his bank card, mobile and the car(i don't drive)
that was taken back as it was a mobility car for the boys

i found out after she rang ex to say she's just chucked out her fiancée and she then declare her feelings for my ex and he went down to see her and never came back
both are adamant there was no affair

we were together 22 years,2 kids and trying for another one

met at 17 and 18 and each others one and only sexual and romantic relationship

i was even his first kiss

it came as such as shock to me as we were happy and with in a few months i had a emotional breakdown and still not 100% recovered

this was winter 2020,with in a few months they were married,(how in lockdown i dont know but a registry office did it) he claimed her 9 kids as his(literally lied to be put on the birth certificates years later)then had another baby and is pregnant again she has 11 kids by 10 different men

all the other kids had no dad involved(she never even told her one night stands she was pregnant) and all by different men(so had a new-born and with in a month pregnant again with another mans kids all done on purpose)

so overnight i was made
a single adult for the first time ever
a lone parent as he hasn't seen the kids since
a lone carer
a lone home educator(we home educate)

same time i was diagnosed with my breakdown a 16 and 10 y old was diagnosed with trauma and stress because of what their dad did

then in 2023 i was diagnosed with ADHD inattentive at 42

so after one snap judgment he made in winter 2020 our life was in tatters and im slowly trying to put it back together

twin that with being a 24 carer to disabled kids anyway

i will never ever forgive them

Oh wow, I hope you and the kids are recovering well from it all. What a shock.

Member of a group of friends went missing leaving everything behind.
We were very worried, and tried to find out what had happened to her.
Months later from friends 'boyfriend': - 'So sorry to have to tell you, friend died. It was a sad, nasty, end. (details followed) You were her only real friends, she really cared about you and talked about you lots.'
Later came 'In the horrible circumstances what was left of her remains were cremated and ashes deposed of by council as parents refused them.'

A horrible bleak ending to someone who'd talked about having a bleak life.
We were a bit shell shocked.

I'm a maker. A group of us decided on creating a small bright stained glass window and organized for it to go to a specific ugly place with little income that she'd mentioned as being grim but having helped her.
We had a small unveiling/kinda memorial ceremony, and left feeling that we'd left a bit of color somewhere grey, in her name as the tiny thing we could do.

About nine months after that, she got of a bus in front of me, and as good as ran away while I scraped my jaw of the floor.

I think you win!

An old acquaintance looked me up on LinkedIn and asked to speak to me (due to the industry I worked in). He told me this huge tale of how he used to be a devious criminal who'd assaulted and hurt many people but had somehow turned his life round.

He'd written a book which had been picked up by a major publisher and there was about to be a huge publicity launch. He was offering my publication an exclusive if we published first. I said I'd obviously need to see a copy of the book first but oddly, the book never actually materialised.

It all eventually unravelled as a huge lie. He was a fantasist who'd done this before. There was no book, no book deal and I'm not even sure his back story was right either.

Someone at school. She said she had a baby when she was 14 and gave him up for adoption, and that even her mum didn’t know about it.

A few years later she had cancer and no one believed her at first. It was only when someone from our group went to visit her in hospital after surgery that we realised she was telling the truth this time. Felt bad that we didn’t support her through it but we just assumed it was another lie…

I know someone who lied about being dead to get an ex to leave him alone. He got his family member to message her and tell her he got cancer and died.

When I was roughly in the 2nd grade a friend and I both got She Ra Princess of Power stickers from a machine. Mine was smudged/damaged. I switched my sad sticker for my friend's good one but was caught and called out by her in front of her whole nuclear and extended family. I bald-face stuck right to the lie that I didn't know what she was talking about. Child had a massive tantrum and I just stood there holding fast to my pristine sticker.

I'm sure I've been involved in more serious infractions but this is nefarious She-Ra escapade looms like a legend in my mind - formative years and all that
