Nope, I told you the news reporter told a labour mp they were.... which they did.

I presume they are talking about these 6 immediate actions labour are talking about?....

This is hilarious. Tories trying to cancel the GE! What a shower of scum they are.

For those not on Twitter,:

Wow! Extraordinary but true - some furious Conservative MPs are tonight working on a plot to CALL OFF the general election by replacing Rishi Sunak as leader before Parliament is dissolved next Thursday.
One rebel Tory MP tells me he believes “several” more letters of no confidence in Sunak have been submitted to 1922 chairman Sir Graham Brady.
The MP: “Today has clearly been an absolute disaster but the election is NOT irrevocable; up until the point of the Dissolution of Parliament - when the writs are moved to begin the contests, it can still be aborted.
“In other words, if enough Tory MPs, who are clearly going to lose their seats in this already utterly shambolic campaign, write to Sir Graham Brady, tomorrow , the election could still be revoked.”

I actually hope they do this 😆 the conservatives will be finished 😆 🤣 😂 forever. Come November they won't have a single seat if this happens lol. It won't though, if this is even true

Hmm interesting.

Why does everybody think he's called it now.? I'm very dubious. My thoughts are:

-The boats aren't going to stop in the summer, stats will be released in autumn and they are losing voters to Reform rapidly
-whilst inflation has dipped, more Brexshit red-tape/greedy shit house water companies are going to increase inflation again
-NHS continues to decline with winter bed pressures looming in the autumn
-ICC, Netanyahu and Hamas. We supplied weapons to countries commiting war crimes.
-seems like there is a scandal each week, but these scandals have crossed both Labour and Tory governments, so an opportunity ro drag Labour down with them
-more defections and no confidence vote looming, so he's thrown a tantrum and called a GE
-the gravy train has run out of gravy
-he knows something mighty shit we don't and wants out
-his India trade deal is now sorted, why stay?
-the press are about to turn in favour of Labour (can't see this happening personally)

What are everyone else's thoughts on the thing that swung it for him? It wasn't for the good of the British public, that's for sure. I'm very intrigued.

Funny how my first thought is "what the fuck is this guy upto?"

Edited

He was trying to go, before reform gets organised with candidates and donations. Reform are gaining conservative votes and whilst they won't win, they would have given Labour a majority and risked total wipe out for the conservatives. He's gone quickly and quietly as they haven't yet chosen candidates for all seats, will now be scrabbling around for donations etc, it's likely they will stand in less seats now.

What being passionate and calling people out for what they are? If you can’t handle
someone telling the truth then god help you

We’re electing a government and she would be a very senior member of it. That kind of language is not acceptable - if she can’t express opposition or criticism in appropriate terms she should not be in that position.

She’s in good company - Nye Bevan described the Tories as vermin. And it goes both ways.

Get the self serving, morally bankrupt, utterly inept bastards out.

Lovethistimeofyear · 23/05/2024 01:34

We will be out of the country during the election.

I am in Scotland.

Do I need to download the Scot.gov postal vote paperwork or can I use the Uk Gov online form due to it being a general election?

And replace them with more of the same.

Only a complete mug would delude themselves otherwise.

Starmer certainly ticks the self serving and morally bankrupt boxes quite nicely and, given his performance at the CPS, he's fucking inept too.

"I can’t believe the childish naivety of anyone who thinks it’s going to get any better."

Too right, the carnage from Brexit hasn't even fully landed yet!

Still the Tories seemed to be hellbent on accelerating the countries decline, rather than managing or slowing it...

keffie12 · 23/05/2024 05:22

I just want my country back (and not in a 30-Anderson way). I want my country back. The one before Cameron opened his big gob in 2016.

I didn't like how it was going then under the Tories, so 14 years all together,

It was a country that wasn't perfect but wasn't like this populist elite Bullingdon club grandchildren of Margaret Thatcher shower of who have turned this country into a laughing stock.

The only country ever to put sanctions on themselves and a government who wants to now take us out of the ECHR set up after the war to protect people.

Margaret Thatcher would be turning in her grave now at what her "silver spoon grandchildren" have turned this country into.

I was bought up in a Tory blue family. I haven't voted for Tory since 2010 and never will again. Neither would any of my family if they were still here.

For those of you interested, have a listen to this podcast with Kier Starmer. You will be surprised by the quiet man background. He isn't from an afluent background. There's far more to him than people realise

Don't be so ridiculous.

Unless you have a crystal ball you can't possibly know how they will do.

That level of arrogance is what's delusional.

I applied on the UK Gov website yesterday. Was surprisingly straightforward.

Pretty appalling though they have made it during our school holidays. I will also be out of the country.

JSMill · 23/05/2024 08:47

Did they consider the added pressure of potentially thousands of extra people applying for postal or proxy votes? It's obviously summer holidays in Scotland but people in other parts of the UK who don't have dcs in school will also be on holiday.

And this one if you want to get the Tories out but aren't sure who has the best chance of beating them in your constituency. Tactical voting.

Basically, I don't think it would matter if Larry the number 10 cat got voted in. There still won't be enough money to make huge changes. My boomer generation are getting older, & while I'm barely costing the NHS anything, lots are.. you'll have to wait for all of us to die off!
