Rishi due to tell us at 5pm what the date is - smart money on 4th July perhaps pressaging his inevitable departure for the USA.

Well it is good that Labour is being truthful. They have inherited a mess and will be limited in what they can do in their first term.

If they were making wild pledges, they would be criticised for that too. They can't win. Well, they can and will, but you know what I mean.

Edited

Time will tell if they win, personally I can't wait until its over with already. I'll go and vote but only because people will say I can't moan if I don't, and I moan alot lol.

I think it's good that you have hope and are still invested in politics though personally I'm tired of it. 2019 I had hope, now there's no point.

Sky news about 20 mins ago

I have Sky News on. You're either knowingly spreading disinformation or you don't understand what you're hearing.

Mummy, I don't know how old you are, but in the late 80s and early 90s the feeling was much the same. But things did get better. Never lose hope!

😆 maybe you missed it? blonde woman In a red jacket speaking to a labour mp? I can assure you I have no reason to make it up and I'm smart enough to understand her saying labour are copying the conservative pledges lol 😆 . I don't care who gets in and you do? So I have less reason to come on here making things up lol

I think you don't understand political journalism. It was Sophie Ridge interviewing Anas Sarwar, the Scottish Labour leader. She was trying to goad him, which is basically her job, and I agree he didn't come out of it particularly impressively. But she didn't say she'd seen the Labour manifesto and that it was "a copy of" the Conservative one, because, as you've been told by several people now, neither of them have been published yet.

Lavengro · 22/05/2024 20:22

And he's not an MP.

By the time it gets better it will be to late for me and my husband anyway.... it will hopefully get better for my kids but I doubt it. The way things are going they will be lucky to still have universal healthcare. The only good thing the conservatives have done is keep us all in jobs, I will despair if they go too.

😂😂😂😂 Have you been sleeping? Not even in the last 14 years but in the last 1

Tories are so much more corrupt than what AR is supposedly done

It’s not what she’s supposedly done that bothers me - I’m not interested in how she sold her house.

No one is fit to represent their country who calls people ‘scum’.

Maray1967 · 22/05/2024 20:24

ByKindOpalPoet · 22/05/2024 18:44

What behaviour? Or do you hate the fact that a teenage mother has done well?

Not an issue with her parenting. As I’ve already said, it’s how she talks about people.

Martinii · 22/05/2024 20:28

Flyhigher · 22/05/2024 20:02

Omg! Cornflake have you actually seen what the Tories have done since 2010?

So 1997 to 2010 was a disaster was it?

I despair at times. This is delusion.

The Tories have been a shitshow but yeah, Labour screwed the country. We had a global financial crash and Labour had fucked our finances so badly we had absolutely no buffer to weather any storms at all. I had my kids in the 2000s and the NHS certainly wasn't this glowing magical thing then people make it out to be. Not saying it's better now, but it certainly wasn't glowing then either. Surestart was great, but the waste I used to see was ludicrous! It was a fab idea but very flawed financially.

She's passionate 😆 and some of the conservative decisions made, for the rich by the rich, I'm not sure she's entirely wrong. Strong word yes but they have basicly criminalised homelessness, and are trying really hard to stamp out peaceful protest. We're paying Rwanda now to take people fleeing war, so what would you call it?

someone telling the truth then god help you

Whilst thats true it was a world wide thing, and Britain was thriving under labour until that crash. The thing for me with Blair was Iraq it shouldn't have happened. We should have said no.

ClementineYellow · 22/05/2024 20:35

Who would vote Labour when they can’t bring themselves to define what a woman is ?

And are going raise taxes ?

Do you want these idiots in power, really ?

Life is bad now, it will get worse.

Who?
Me.
I will be.
Oh and yes I do want them in power over the Tories getting back in.
"It will get worse"
How?

My brother was able to buy a house with 0 deposit under Tony Blair, a house he still owns. So whilst 100% mortgages caused the nightmare and bankers betting with money the bank didnt have. At least he made it through and has an asset and decent retirement. I mean while am stuck renting with a private pension that I can't claim until I'm 68 probably more by the time I do and when I do claim it, it will all go on rent! So I'll be In pensioner poverty! What joy I have to look forward too

It wasn't thriving for those who's pensions they raided, and the gold reserves they sold off!

Whatever Labour do, it has to be better than this clusterfuck.

Yeah I've heard about the pension tax changes but at least you will get one! Most of us won't see a penny! And if by some miracle we live to claim it, it will go to the private conservative voting landlords!

Totally embarrassed and fuming how they treated our PM - the stupid childish Labour noise has reinforced my reasons to vote Conservative

A very appropriate username there.

I'll be lucky to see a pension too! I was referring to people who at the time had paid in for years only to be screwed by labour.

It's like leaving someone in a good position financially, then over the years they not only spend all the money, max out the credit cards, spend all the money under the mattress and raided the jewellery box too! So when the shit hits the fan, i.e., a global crash, there's no buffer whatsoever.

WalrusOfLove · 22/05/2024 20:48

WithACatLikeTread · 22/05/2024 17:23

Sorry but I think you have unrealistic hopes of what Labour will do. I fear many are going to be disappointed.

(Not defending the Tories obviously)

You don't think we've been Robbed because I do! Yes they've lost some pension but don't feel to sorry for them. They had fully funded higher education and the right to buy! We're paying a pension were never going to see!!! That's real robbery, we can only afford to buy half a house!! They are all sat there with tripple locked pensions, pension credit and houses they fully own!

WalrusOfLove · 22/05/2024 20:53

My fear is they'll tax the shit out of us and we still won't see much tangible improvement (not that I'm a Tory fan either).

If you have a private pension surely you can claim that before you're 68?
