I'd also like her to be prosecuted and jailed. Sadly, as is typical in these cases, she will likely worm her way out of it.

Many, many people, particularly those of us who've worked in the public sector, will have met many 'Paulas' in our careers.

This is a cabal of truly awful, vindicative, calculating and none too bright people who rotate around the senior echelons of the public sector.

This particular specimen was also Chair of an NHS Trust. And we don't have to look far to other very recent cases to see other examples like this ...

Councils are full of them.

Staring to cry now

she is just feeling sorry for herself. Vile woman!

MikeRafone · 22/05/2024 12:52

PV made herself look incredibly stupid replying to the last question stating she didn't call them subbies when it was clearly about the hand in the till comment

Quirkyme · 22/05/2024 12:53

"Where does it say here?"
"Where does it say here?"
"Where does it say here?"

Answer the Q Paula!!!!

Goslingsforlife · 22/05/2024 12:44

she is just feeling sorry for herself. Vile woman!

She started to cry way too early. Should have saved her (fake) tears for the tough questions she doesn't want to answer.

As for "I'm afraid I do not recall"...... who does she think she is - Richard Nixon?!

Quirkyme · 22/05/2024 12:55

Did he say he was being attacked by "grips?"

Bet Paula's loving that light relief, so she can take a break before the next cry

Can someone tell me if she definitely lied?

It’s a bit like believing there was a grizzly bear working in her office for years and she never noticed, despite it wandering the halls, frequent roaring, the occasional mauling of staff members and severed body parts being left in reception. And the bear attended all board meetings.

Only she knows for sure - but if she wasn't lying, she should be ashamed to have a taken a single penny in salary for being so incompetent.

MagnetCarHair · 22/05/2024 13:08

She almost couldn't stomach her own callous disregard of Martin Griffiths suicide and trying to reframe it as a consequence of family problems. I thought she was to to give up the act at that point and accept that she had been shamefully wicked and then she took a breath and was back into robot mode.

SonicTheHodgeheg · 22/05/2024 11:54

She should be facing jail time and forced to return her pensions etc accrued during that time.

This, absolutely.

I don't know she can consider herself a christian.

I read somewhere that she was considered for the shortlist for the bishop of London job.

EggcornAcorn · 22/05/2024 11:57

oufff Mr Beer is like a rapier, filleting her witness statement.

I'm developing quite a crush on Jason Beer.

He's sharper than a scalpel, and his low-key delivery belies the seismic nature of his questions.

DaffydownClock · 22/05/2024 13:19

Pemba · 22/05/2024 11:55

And yet she obviously had a self image that she was a good and moral person. Hence the intense involvement with the church. Does she still hold that position, does anyone know?

How does she reconcile the harm she done, with Christian teachings in her mind I wonder?

The biggest hypocrites I have ever had the misfortune to meet have been avid churchgoers.

"And did you know, when you signed up for the job, that there was a place called St. Paul's Cathedral?"
"I don't recall"
"And that you were to represent the Church in the House of Lords?"
"I only learnt about that three days ago"
"And you are supposed to wear a jazzy hat and be a good egg"
"Could you point to the evidence, please?"

Pemba · 22/05/2024 13:25

Yes, @DaffydownClock ,it is strange. I don't really understand what goes through someone's mind though, when they're involved in the lies, corporate cover-ups, persecution of innocent people, etc as Paula V was, and yet on Sundays to stand up preaching about loving your neighbour as yourself and turning the other cheek etc. I just don't get it!

Pemba · 22/05/2024 13:29

Still look at all the priests who abused children, that's even worse. Don't know why I'm surprised really. Very sad.

AutumnCrow · 22/05/2024 13:47

I would imagine any future theoretical prison sentence would involve a cushy year at HMP Bronzefield being the chaplain's library assistant (she can find out how well 'I do not recall if we have that book in the prison library, Big Soo, please point it out in the catalogue' goes down there), and/or the bulk served outside where all her vicaring counts as community service.

Viviennemary · 22/05/2024 14:02

I only listened for a few minutes. Talk about passing the buck and proclaiming to know nothing. What a duplicitous weasel. Her only aim is to save her own neck. Sorry it just wont do. Prison sentence required for those responsible.

Sausagenbacon · 22/05/2024 14:02

Of course the person missing from the investigation is Adam Crozier, who was in post when Horizons was set up

Her tears are for herself. She feels sorry for herself because she's being asked questions about her guilty actions.

Where was her pity for anybody else? You know, the innocent ones?

VickyEadieofThigh · 22/05/2024 14:07

Does anyone know - what would happen if she just refused to appear tomorrow?

She'd still have it on her record though, so it would affect her life in many ways - not least being able to get a job.

I’m not sure a criminal record will dramatically affect her employability at this stage…..

EggcornAcorn · 22/05/2024 14:15

BAWLING AGAIN.

ginasevern · 22/05/2024 14:17

And meanwhile whilst this vomit inducing circus is being dragged out to the max, the sub postmasters (who are still alive) haven't received proper or even any compensation.

Pemba · 22/05/2024 14:17

Well she's 64 now, so in any event she would probably have been retired by now, on a huge cushy pension no doubt.
