Baked 23 cookies, dh ate 8 of them

I baked some cookies after dinner, like I do most weekends so the kids had some slightly less unhealthy snacks to go in their lunch boxes and to just have in the house. At the end of the night I went to put them in a container from the cooling rack and only 14 remained. I had one, so dh took 8 of them in the two hours since I cooked them! What kind of shitty self control is that.

I feel more pissed off that I took a little bit of time to do something nice (mainly for the kids, we're adults, we don't need bloody biscuits), and he's just gone for it with no respect for anyone else. Only apologised when I called him out for it. Ugh.

OP posts:

Counting the biscuits 😮

SanFranBear · 19/05/2024 13:05

I'm googling coconut and oat cookies now as am at a loose end! Have found a recipe where I have all the ingredients so am now going to have to make them! Damn you, OP 😉

Someone as uptight as you would not have had 2 baking trays and left an infuriating gap.

Fess up: There were 24 and you ate one yourself.

Glad I not the only one who wondered about the 23! I personally could not have resisted, they sound delicious!

Anyone else just tucked into some biscuits? Today will not be a losing weight day

That’s why I make a double batch. DH turns into a 7-year old around homemade biscuits and would scoff the lot if I wouldn’t. He runs out of stomach room after about a dozen.

Zanatdy · 19/05/2024 13:42

8 is pure greed

Team DH here.

You didn’t make all 23 for the kids surely? Food is made for eating. I don’t have a shameful relationship with food so I’d never see eating biscuits as ‘losing control’ and I’d be pissed off if someone claimed eating a few biscuits was ‘shitty self control’.

Well it is shitty self control to eat a whole third of something someone made for the whole family in one sitting.

people seem to be focusing on the husband eating part and not the fact that it’s OPs hard work and time

Can you believe i used two baking trays? Actually one was a roasting pan as the second tray was waiting to be washed and I cba doing that. I think it was 10 on the roasting pan, 13 on the tray. Never been called up tight in my life, I take it as a compliment, given my adhd and otherwise disorganised approach to life. Have I bored you to sleep yet?

I rest my case.

do you need a new patio?

@27Bumblebees well I need to taste those to decide if 8 are justified.

I'll Dm my address.

But they sound amazing, so I can anticipate my answer, but not sure until
I've tasted.

Bloodyplumbing is not properly qualified.

Send them to me.

Please

@ttpd
The wrapper has measurements printed on it so you can cut the amount needed by length. It says 1/4, 1/2, 1c along the side of the package.

After a while you can just eyeball it.

Palmtreesandteas · 19/05/2024 14:09

Are cookies a very rare occurrence at your place? Are you seriously so upset or are you joking?

Palmtreesandteas · 19/05/2024 14:10

And did you actually count how many you made, how many each member of the family ate?! Unless you are in poverty this is very weird...

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/05/2024 14:12

I think what would bug me is that was part of planning for lunch boxes for the week. OP could've said to gluttonous DH, don't eat these, I've baked them for the dc. She didn't and now, unsurprisingly, she has to ltb. This is obviously a pattern. 🧐

tkwal · 19/05/2024 14:21

What has need got to do with it ? It's clearly a compliment to your baking skills and everyone knows cookies/biscuits taste best still warm from the oven. I Might suggest baking a batch and a half, or even double next time...or make the dough , slice and freeze so you can bake on demand. Eight sounds as though he found them irresistible

Dancingonthemoonlight · 19/05/2024 14:24

What an absolute non issue. If that's all you have to moan and whine about in life consider yourself bloody lucky!

BrandySnaps1 · 19/05/2024 14:25

OP are you serious? It's cookies. Get over it.

OneNiftyPoet · 19/05/2024 14:26

Was he stoned? If so then fair play to him for not eating all of them. If not then still I admire his self control. Get over it and make more next time.

StormingNorman · 19/05/2024 14:54

notprincehamlet · 19/05/2024 15:00

will you share the recipe please?
I think it's from Mrs Beeton's Book of Bastarding Baking in the It's Not About the Cookies section. The secret ingredient is years of pent-up resentment.

Exactly. Not to mention OP's DH knew that they are largely for 3 children to have in their lunch boxes.

Nothing wrong with eating a few but 8? It's just selfish, as is not offering to bake any replacements.

Mrsredlipstick · 19/05/2024 15:02

My DH eats all the sweet treats. He will pinch birthday cake and chocolate.
However the DS (25)went up to London last week and had eaten:

Half a packet of skin on chips
A steak
A cooked chicken
A packet of bagels
A wedge of brie
A loaf of bread
And all the Nutella
In addition to three meals a day.

The scoffer left the bananas bought for his munchies.

Did he though? Or did he just know OP made a batch of cookies on a Saturday and he didn't want the kids eating too many?!

I'd never make treats on a Saturday that are meant for next week's lunches. They wouldn't make it to Monday morning never mind the week!

I think you need to reassess your opinion of yourself 4 isn't even a mild sugar issue....4 packets maybe...

It appears that people are having trouble understanding me. I said I have eaten 4 biscuits in one go. Other sugary food items exist and there are loads of hours in a day 😂 plus, people have really taken an off the cuff remark deadly serious 😂😂
