To request my complimentary stay after all these years

I had a really disappointing stay at a hotel about 10 years ago. When I complained to the manager, she was really apologetic and offered me a complimentary 3 night stay as a gesture of goodwill and to give them the opportunity to show me the usual quality of their product.

For various reasons, I never went back to her to arrange the complimentary stay.

AIBU to contact her now after 10 years to redeem my freebie? If so, how should I word the email request? I’ve checked that the same manager is still in charge at the hotel.

Hopefully she has taken a week off to get your room ready in all its splendour!

Just think if you get your free stay and it's not 100% to your liking, you can email again in another ten years and ask for another free weekend break.

Be a bit sneaky. Do you have another email address? If not, create one. Send an email with a general query, or copy a spam email that you've received that will just get ignored - and see if you get another ooo reply.

I have to say, as someone who originally was both scandalized and delighted you were contemplating even doing this, I am now FIRMLY disappointed the hotel has not replied to you (and given you the stay)!
