Our lovely FTB 🙄have requested wheelie bins be included after generous discount… many unreasonable requests met!

AIBU to leave dead nan ashes under the floorboards & take the wheel bins as a summer plunge pool for the kids 🫣

Don’t forget to dig up the plants either.

Sadly you're not allowed to as they are fixtures. But you can definitely take the lightbulbs. We were on the receiving end of that once!

I’m really confused by this and am wondering if there is some type of wheelie bin that I’m not aware of! If you’re talking about rubbish/recycling bins, these belong to the council, not to you. If you take them the new owners will have to order new ones and might even get charged for them. Are you expecting your new house to have no bins when you move in? Just bizarre.

No, not all councils supply bins for rubbish and recycling or garden waste. Some place you do have to source and supply your own wheelie bins (and crates if used). This is not the same as paying the council for delivery of a bin at some random point in the future, some places you have to go and find someone, not the council who will sell you a wheelie bin. Most people end up going to amazon, but I’m sure there are other wheelie bin sellers out there.

Yes you can take plants, but with written agreement of the buyer.

The wheelie bins stay with the property. They aren't yours, they belong to the council. Where do you do live if you believe they go with you?

Do they belong to the council as when we moved to a new build we had to buy them 🙄 so there for they where mind as I paid about £100 for 2

Still left them when we sold up

Newbie999 · 18/05/2024 20:50

Oh my. Of course you should leave the bins. Regarding your Nan’s ashes - I assume you wouldn’t leave them behind and are having a laugh?

Martusia86uk · 18/05/2024 21:00

You should definitely not take the bins with you... They belong to the property.
When we sold our last hour we cleaned out bins for the new owners and make sure there was no rubbish left! Why would you even consider taking them? Just imagine moving in to your new home and you have no bins!!! Not nice at all !

LittleOwl153 · 18/05/2024 21:02

My mum is moving next week. As she is staying within the district council area THE COUNCIL HAVE TOLD HER SHE MUST TAKE HER BINS or they will charge her for new ones. All 70s build houses no new builts involved.

ScartlettSole · 18/05/2024 21:09

What kind of head case takes wheelie bins with them?!? Im sorry but this is the most mental thing ive read on here. Please tell me its a wind up?
Taking the fucking wheelie bins 😅

Sellthishousetorhosecunts · 16/05/2024 23:44

I’m loving that taking my wheelie bin is unreasonable but popping a teaspoon of nans ashes underneath the floorboards to haunt the tight fuckers hasn’t picked up on…

Haunting them is reasonable, taking wheelie bins is weird 😂😂😂

I had to buy mine when I moved in so they are actually mine. As I live on a new build estate it’s common for people moving within the state to take their bins after shelling out over £100 for them.

DrCoconut · 18/05/2024 21:24

It's a bit of an odd one because you pay quite a lot for your bins but the council can take them away if they decide to and not reimburse you. In my experience it is usual to leave them if you move. Though the previous owners of our house didn't and it cost us almost £100 for a complete new set.

Cathaidh · 18/05/2024 21:26

I took my bins, I had two green bins at my old house. I left one and took one as my new property had a new one. Why would I leave a house that had two people moving into with my bins and my family of five had to just survive on one bin until collection day or when ever they would round to providing me with more (which I would have to pay again for and reapply to the scheme to ask for an extra bin 🫠🫠)! Plus I bloody paid for them so they are mine!

who moves and carries the wheel bins along with them.. so unhygenic and bulky

Here we have to pay for them separately so I'd be taking my newish clean tidy bins with me

IwantKandixxx · 18/05/2024 22:36

I feel your pain OP ! My council doesn't provide wheelie bins either - I had to buy mine from Amazon for £60 but I would probably leave it and hope my new house leaves one for me. Sounds like we are a minority of non wheelie bin providing councils.

Cherrysoup · 18/05/2024 22:51

What, you’re taking the bins? Or you’re taking the piss out of clueless ftb? What area doesn’t provide bins? I ran over one of mine last week and the council just dropped me off another (it’s a little compost one).

I was wondering if it would be mean to take the brackets for the microwave earlier. We put them up a year ago to clear a surface and it’s a real space saver. I’d like to keep new surfaces clear too (not that I’m moving for a bit)

welyjiwjiw · 18/05/2024 23:32

Paperthin · 16/05/2024 23:19

NOBODY takes their wheels bins OP, not in the UK anyway.

We have bought our own wheelie bins… they are not provided by the council in wales so I’d definitely take them to a new property

StressedOutButProudMama · 18/05/2024 23:39

In the UK wheelie bins actually belong to the property whether you've paid for replacements or not. Each property is allocated bins and the council can actually fine you for removing them.

I'm not sure what country you are from but I find it absurd that anyone would want to take a wheelie bin with them at all. Of course they should be left they are part of the house's functionality.

Mellowbear · 19/05/2024 04:12

Never heard such nonsense the bins stay with the house!

Rottweilermummy · 19/05/2024 07:04

Wheelie bins stay with property, who ever takes them is an idiot, trying to get new ones is a pain, are you moving within same council area? If not, then there would most likely be different collection system and maybe even different colour bins.

3boysmom · 19/05/2024 07:10

The wheelie bins are provided by the LA, as a means to collect rubbish in a uniform way. They do not As such belong to you. As someone who's moved house several times over the last few years, you generally leave your bin and your sellers leave theirs.

Sleepytiredyawn · 19/05/2024 08:30

If you want to take it, take it.

We had a small bin where we are and I had to argue with the Council for a bigger bin as a family of 3 at the time and two indoor cats. With nappies and cat litter over filling our bin I said I will pay for bloody the bin. They took the smaller bin away when they brought my new bin. Luckily my bins never get stolen where I live but many do. We’re expected to replace them at our cost so I’m with you, take your bin.

This thread is such a prime example of people just posting away without even reading the posts directly above. Let alone wondering what the last 18 pages might have covered that their contribution is adding to.

In my borough you have to buy the bins yourself, and a wheelie bin is optional. Which is an odd system given that the lorries have wheelie bin grabbers on the back and the poor guys have to grab our manky bags to load up their wheelie bin anyway
