Who blows the Candles out in your House?

saveusername111 · 12/05/2024 22:55

Light hearted conversation between Me and DH.

I say, whoever goes to Bed last blows them out. (Him)

He says, whoever lit them blows them out before going to Bed. (Me)

Thoughts?

Last to bed. But both that and the lighting are usually me.

Jeannne92 · 12/05/2024 22:59

Whoever lit.

swapcicles · 12/05/2024 23:00

If you lit them because you like them and partner isn't fussed then you should blow them out when going to bed.
Whoever's last to bed should check candles/doors/lights and the usual before heading off to bed purely from a safety point of view.

Whoever lit them. You created the work, you complete the job.

or get lamps.

Well I was going to say whoever is the birthday person.....

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 12/05/2024 23:03

Whoever's birthday it is.

steff13 · 12/05/2024 23:06

We have electric lamps at my house. But if we didn't I would say whoever lit the candle should blow it out. Or whoever's birthday it is.

PeloMom · 12/05/2024 23:06

Whoever lit them

determinedtomakethiswork · 12/05/2024 23:09

To say whoever let them should blow them out sounds crazy really. Does that mean the person who switched the TV on is the person who switches it off?

PossumintheHouse · 12/05/2024 23:09

Fucking hell. Did other person agree to/enjoy the candles? If so, the last person to bed. I'd be crying about the ridiculousness of my situation, though.

GentlemanJohnny · 12/05/2024 23:09

Last one to bed. And we have a candle snuffer.

mathanxiety · 12/05/2024 23:11

Last to bed males most sense.

crumbledog · 12/05/2024 23:12

Does he just leave them if you don’t put them out.

MyBreezyPombear · 12/05/2024 23:14

Whoever lit them.

bows101 · 12/05/2024 23:16

Me and my DP have exactly the same conversation 😄
I just blow them on now to keep the peace

SomePosters · 12/05/2024 23:19

If you start a fire you’re responsible for it being done safely

I would not be able to go to sleep knowing I had lit candles and left them.

My best friends house burnt down due to candles being used irresponsibly. Fortunately everyone made it out alive.

Summerbay23 · 12/05/2024 23:21

Whoever lit them.

Marmaladelover · 12/05/2024 23:26

Happy birthday to you ,
Hapoy birthday to you …..

oh not those sort of candles !

Macbeff · 12/05/2024 23:27

The under butler, sometimes the footman.

TheChosenTwo · 12/05/2024 23:28

Well we don’t have a rule about this 😂
Usually me as otherwise dh may not notice they’re lit at all and waste my lovely candles going up to bed and leaving them lit.

IbisDancer · 12/05/2024 23:29

The help

Singleandproud · 12/05/2024 23:30

Candles are fire hazards, whoever lit them takes responsibility for them.

honeyfox · 12/05/2024 23:30

I light them, I blow them out. DH wouldn't even notice them.

bluetopazlove · 12/05/2024 23:31

Ha Ha nice try , you can't pass on your work to your husband 😄

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 12/05/2024 23:32

Use a snuffer. Blowing can sprinkle candle wax over surface which don’t enjoy it.
