Anyone watching for Northern Lights tonight?

It’s supposed to be a perfect night to see them in the U.K. the combination of the solar flare and the clear sky means they’re potentially visible from anywhere in the U.K. Just wondering if I’m the only one staring out the window hoping to see something!

Pretty good visibility in north Shropshire but they're much more static than last time I saw them, further north and 3 decades ago.

Anyone else feel very emotional seeing them? 🥺

@suki1964 I'm in a very built up area of south London and you can see them with the naked eye but they are really bright through a camera and we've got some wonderful photos.

They seem to have faded away here, north Hants. Really want to stay up but have a rare night out tomorrow and want to be fresh for that!! Unbelievable sight. What a night.

Thanks for starting this thread, OP. You inspired me to go and look - I took the dog out and no luck, then noticed the sky was getting lighter to the North (not in the direction of lit up buildings). So, out to my balcony and I have seen the Northern Lights for the first time in my life (I shall be 70 this year, so I have had a long wait). I live in London E4, next to Epping Forest. My sister 3 miles away (more built up area) was not so lucky but thought she saw one pink streak overhead.

Yes I did; have waited so long to see them.

I'm in the largest Dark Sky Reserve in Europe so we see them all the time here.

Tonight was special though.

Edinburgh - less than a mile from the city centre and no filter 😊
