Having watched her interview this evening, everything about her screamed 'liar'. Her language, her demeanor, her body language. I just wonder what other think?

A really unsettling watch, I wish I hadn't seen it but I wanted to make my own mind up. I agree that she is unwell but I think that she would need to acknowledge that for herself and this would mean that the decades she has spent constructing the reality that both helps her and allows her to function would collapse. When I watched the drama I had some empathy for Martha, those shots of her at the bus stop with her face almost blank with loneliness and despair were very sad. Seeing the real "Martha" with her tangled thoughts, suppressed rage and contradictory reasoning was a different matter. To me she seemed dangerous, this exposure will not have helped her and I can see this whole thing running out of control. Piers Morgan has no ethics and the interview should not have gone ahead.

@FedUpAndTiredToday exactly. I really hope the laws change as a result of this, and there's more transparency around anything that claims to be based on a true story.

I wont watch the Morgan interview because I think it's pure exploitation of a mentally ill and vulnerable woman. I just hope that she gets some real life help and that nothing more extreme happens to her as a result of all this.

She was quite chilling to watch. She's guilty as hell. Also when she said she didn't send 41,000 emails but even if she did it wouldn't damage the legal case against Netflix.

Do you think her lawyer boyfriend knows he is her boyfriend, if he even exists?

‘Do you think her lawyer boyfriend knows he is her boyfriend, if he even exists?’

😂

@burnoutbabe I get the impression it was agreed beforehand not to mention what she does for a living.

I'm fairly certain she doesn't work. I don't think she is capable of holding down a job.

She says she is a "highly competent lawyer". There is no record of her having ever worked as a lawyer, in England or Scotland.

I don't believe she has ever worked.

I honestly don’t understand why people are encouraging this, she is mentally unwell, everyone knows she is mentally unwell. Why are people treating it like it’s entertainment, I really don’t understand why anyone would watch piers Morgan making fun of a mentally unwell person, because that is what it is.

Will people be happy if she is driven to harm herself over this, I can’t imagine she has anyone supporting her to make the right decisions or to stand by her while she is being pulled apart and mocked by the entire county.

It harks back to the days of Jeremy Kyle, parading people who have vulnerabilities, mental health issues etc for public entertainment. Very unethical. It was a grim watch and I think it will massively backfire.

JamSandle · 10/05/2024 12:54

I'm trying to understand what did she actually do then? Send him loads of messages etc? But she never assaulted Teri? Never went to prison? Is it debated that she ever sexually abused him?

newnamenellie · 10/05/2024 12:57

I've only watched bits of it but have previously seen her Facebook posts, so have got a flavour of how she operates.

She certainly does seem to believe her own truth which clearly has nothing to do with reality. She is unwell and, as others have said, no doubt a dangerous person to meddle with.

Jaboody · 10/05/2024 12:57

Her Facebook is something else. She's racist and completely bonkers. She needs serious help.

Yes I agree, why didn't he have the proof ready?

The way she laughed and said about how she was flattered he thought she was like the actress playing her and how she knew exactly how old he is 😳

No she said it wasn't very flattering that he thought there was a resemblance to the actress. She's been taking pop shots at the actress, criticizing her looks/weight

Lifeomars · 10/05/2024 13:04

CorinneA42 · 09/05/2024 22:54

I would expect the interviewer to have some facts to present her with?he could have seen the emails/letters/tweets and tell her that, as well as she had a restraining order. Facts easily proven that Piers could have before the interview.
'My childhood was impoverished, a middle class upbringing' I was 🤔 at that

This would have the potential to lead who knows where. She is clearly unwell and her whole persona appears to be constructed and maintained by her fantasy world view.

Anonymous2025 · 10/05/2024 13:06

She is a narcissist sociopath ! No 2 ways about it !

MargaretThursday · 10/05/2024 13:06

I haven't watched either the original show or the interview, but I did want to say that it can be really hard to use a real situation in writing and hide the person, especially if they're so extreme as she is.
I was once on a train with someone who knew a well-known writer and he was saying that they could often pick out mutual friends who'd been used without anything being said.
And when I've been writing things for the children there's been a couple of times I thought I disguised someone well and the children have immediately picked up who it is (not them)

It wasn’t debated ! But it should !

Misthios · 10/05/2024 13:09

Haven't watched the Netflix drama - yet - watched a wee snippet of the YouTube thing so I could give my opinion on her accent. Her accent to my ear as a Scot is most definitely West of Scotland / Glasgow. Not Aberdeen, couldn't hear any Aberdeen in that whatsoever. But yes, the accent of someone originally from Scotland who has spent a long timr living in the SE of England.

Whatever happened or didn’t, that lady still is a very vulnerable person and should be treated as such.

TV companies and Piers Morgan should have said no to having her speak.
To be honest whilst the Netflix show may have been very good and bla bla bla, they’ve told a story about a woman who is still very much here today and I think they’ve been extremely irresponsible in allowing Gadd to make it.

What makes you think she is vulnerable? She is capable of having a profession , a home , according to her friends . Mental health illness or not ( and honestly it’s debatable) she has caused harm to people , Gadd is not the first person who had to go to the police because of her .

Ooh thank you I misheard. That's very unkind of her!

80schildhood · 10/05/2024 13:17

Honestly he embellished so much of the story we don't actually know if he did go to the police?

She says she is a "highly competent lawyer". There is no record of her having ever worked as a lawyer, in England or Scotland.

I don't believe she has ever worked.

I read a quote from The Law Society from the nineties which said that she had been trying to be taken on as a proper trainee solicitor for many years and had actually been taken on as a trainee solicitor by three different firms but it hadn't worked out. When she was sacked as a trainee from one firm she waged a stalking and hate campaign against her former boss. This was over 25 years ago.

I think you're right that she has never worked but she refers to herself as a law graduate to make it sound like she is a lawyer.

80schildhood · 10/05/2024 13:22

Netflix have said -

“We’ve gone to such great lengths to disguise her to the point that I don’t think she would recognise herself"

They are even lying about lying.

When you lie about telling the truth and you lie about the nature and severity of the crimes committed against you or your acquaintances, you are doing an enormous disservice to all victims of abuse.

Verv · 10/05/2024 13:22

Haven't RTFT in full but I think she's deeply mentally unwell and as such, vulnerable albeit quite dislikable.

Im really not comfortable with the way she's been exposed, harassed online, or brought out into the stocks for public consumption.
In fact I am deeply uncomfortable with it and I do question why Gadd made no effort to preserve any anonymity/dignity despite claiming to have done exactly that.

I say this without defending her actions in the slightest.

Edited to say I haven't watched Baby Reindeer and don't intend to.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 10/05/2024 13:26

Her eye movements when the video clip of the court scene was shown were really odd. Like she was trying to remember the dates and what actually happened on those dates.

Rockmehardplace · 10/05/2024 13:28

My worry, as well as for Fiona herself, who doesn’t seem mentally equipped to deal with this press interest, is for the actress who played her.

just reading/listening to interveners with fiona, it would seem that she is really hyper focusing on this actress as being part of the ‘conspiracy’ against her as opposed to just an actress doing a job.

Lifeomars · 10/05/2024 13:28

KreedKafer · 10/05/2024 12:06

She's a convicted criminal. She already had a conviction (and was jailed) for very serious stalking offences before she ever met Richard Gadd. She is very unwell and a complete fantasist.

Of course she is vulnerable. Of course she is being exploited. But she is still a massive liar, extremely disturbed and very unstable and has very little control over her anger. She's not an innocent woman who just happened to have a crush on a comedian. She's Annie Wilkes from Misery.

I think that this is why Piers Mogan did not confront her with evidence of the emails. It was a reprehensible interview and should not have taken place, you could see the anger seething under the surface and to produce proof of some of her lies would have been dangerous. As it is, I already think things have gone too far and I am sure this won't be the end of it.

She posts multiple times a day and accused Keir Starmer of something or other and is taking him to court.
