I don’t generally care about the Met Gala, but my jaw dropped when I saw this photo.

Can you imagine walking around looking like this?!

To think Anok Yai is one of the most beautiful women on earth?

@MarzipanGenius

If the only people you can conceive of as spectacularly beautiful are three white women, your view of beauty is narrow and entirely white. This is a factual statement. Nothing ridiculous about it.

You being mixed race has absolutely no impact on this.

ETA: you can be as offended as you like, still a factual statement.
I think with a sum of 3 women this impossible to draw a conclusion about someone's view of beauty being solely white.
At this moment these 3 women are the only ones the poster can think of that mesmerise him. At another time it maybe different people. Had they listed 20 women who were all white I would possibly agree with you but 3 is too small a sample size to draw any conclusions
In any case Kendell Jenner is half Armenian. Whilst this is obviously not black, it's not white in the Margot Robbie sense.
For what it's worth I am half East Asian.

Kendall Jenner is gorgeous but 100% white. Both parents white. Her sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe (the Kardashians) are the half Armenians.

First picture: gorgeous
Second picture: ick

It’s not my thing normally but I looked through the pics yesterday. There was a pretty young woman called Tyla. Never heard of her but she was gorgeous!

Kendall Jenner is very very white.

The Kardashian's are Armenian.

Angelina jolie? She's obviously older now so it's not really fair to compare her to women in their 20s and early 30s but how does anyone not think she was GORGEOUS

Big bee-stung lips - no thanks. She and Liv Tyler both put me off completely, their faces look out of balance.

Queen Latifah and Penelope Cruz, to pick women closer to Jolie’s age than the current supermodels, are absolutely beautiful. I’d run off with either off them in a heartbeat.

@MarzipanGenius

I’m judging it from the fact that I asked whether there was anyone who she considered beautiful who wasn’t white and she said ‘no’.
I suppose the question should be 'is there anyone ever that is/was not white that you have considered beautiful'. I took it more that right now in the current crop of beauties, there isn't anyone they find beautiful.

Perhaps they could come back and clarify

Happy to.

What the OP keeps conveniently omitting because it doesn't fit her narrative is that my answer was for now. At the minute.

She didn't ask if I had ever found a black woman attractive. She didnt ask if I ever would. I now believe she did that deliberately because she wouldn't have been able to try and castigate me if there was context given/further information.

I have repeatedly said those 3 women are the only ones currently/at this present moment in time that I find attractive on a personal level. I went on to say numerous times that I simply don't find many people attractive. Male or female. That's just me. I can't help it. I just don't. I shouldn't have to justify my totally valid current personal preference for fear of the consequences. That is coercion and its a slippery slope to go down.

At no point did I ever say black women weren't attractive. I did not say that I had never found black women attractive and nor did I say I never would. I think I mentioned that I used to love Naomi Campbell.

All the OP and another poster has done is jumped to a massively wrong conclusion and accussed me of racism when I'm mixed race myself. That's incredibly offensive. I can't even express how disgusting that is to me.

It appears Mumsnet agree with me as they have deleted that particular post.

I love thier big natural lips. Black woman have been mocked for years for having bigger lips.

Interestingly Angelina made them desirable for white people, which on the one hand is disappointing that it was a white woman who made them attractive, but also it's nice that they were no longer mocked.

I'm black and I'm pretty sure the others who addressed you last night about your comments were also black - because being mixed race doesn't exempt you from internalising euro-centric beauty standards (just like being black wouldn't). Colourism is a huge problem in the black community for this reason. No one on this thread accused you of being racist. However look at the posts from your (I'm presuming white) defenders - they've outed themselves as racists. Are those your allies? Are you happy for people to shit on black women in order to defend you from factual observations?

I'm never shocked by racism on mumsnet - it's the norm. But as a black woman, I am saddened by your stance on this and your refusal to accept the obvious.

Being mixed race doesn't mean you're not racist or influenced by white beauty standards. It's absurd to think otherwise.

It wasn’t a question in any way limited by time. People have been answering with everything from Farrah Fawcett, to Audrey Hepburn, to Iman.

And, honestly, celebrities are more diverse than ever. If, in the ‘current crop of beauties’, she can’t think of a single beautiful person that isn’t white, I stand by my statement.

I was and its been deleted so Mumsnet must have agreed.

I am not internalising anything because I've mentioned 3 names for my preference at this current time. It's a ridiculous suggestion.

I don't know any of the posters who have supported me whether directly or indirectly but I'd imagine they disagree with the pile on for someone who merely expressed a personal preference. There are a lot of abuse victims on here and I'm sure they recognise misogyny and coercion when they see it. Bullying leaves a nasty taste for most people.

I'm very disappointed too because quite frankly the only person of colour who has been shit on is me.

I did not say that finding a black woman attractive is virtue signalling, stop straw manning. As I said, OP gleefully jumping on and "educating" the other poster is what showed her intentions for what they are. She couldn't fucking wait.

European beauty standards is a bunch of propaganda to justify hating white women. The features described as being "standard" for white beauty are completely atypical for how 99.99% of white people actually look. I'll believe in it when European people stop giving themselves skin cancer to be tanned, or injecting muck into their lips.

If thin lips, boney noses, narrow faces, mousy hair and early wrinkles were celebrated, then you might have a point.

What the heck? It's propaganda?

Until Angelina big lips were mocked.

Who is hating white women? I didn't realize white women were suffering so much when discussing beautiful black women.

There was nothing in either my question or your initial response about ‘for now’ or ‘at the minute’. So, that’s a lie.

And, as I said above, celebrities are more diverse than ever. If, in the ‘current crop of beauties’, you can’t think of a single beautiful person that isn’t white, I stand by my statement.

Nobody is coercing you. Multiple posters have had an issue with the things you’ve said, not just one. You can keep saying how offensive it all is, it doesn’t change anything.
