RITA ORA- an example of all that is wrong with the world

I am being unreasonable, and not sure whether its jealousy or irritation that she has done so well with little discernible talent. However, she irritates me intensely for being presumably financially very successful for not wearing any clothes. MET Gala case in point. She is just such a narcissist. I know there are others out there, but she doesnt even have a crap reality show with her sisters

Before the photos came out I made a bet with myself that Rita Ora and Emily Ratajkowski would be basically naked as usual.

I won.

The theme last night wasn’t dress to shock, it was The Garden of Time, with the exhibit being Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. So whimsical, ethereal, romantic.

What those two did was get their tits and asses out like they always do because it’s all they have to offer.

The Lady Garden Of Time

I will repeat this joke until y'all start appreciating it! Wink Grin

Do people think women wear these clothes because they like them? Do they wear body stockings and see through clothes on a normal day, and just add a bit of sparkle when on show?

The Met Gala isn't a normal day, though. I've worn some rather outlandish stuff when the occasion allowed or required it. Why would you think a woman would only ever truly want to wear what you think she should wear?

They wear them to get noticed. It doesn’t matter what they get noticed for. Taking clothes off is still the easiest way for a woman to get noticed. I’m so grateful to all the women who fight for my right to take my clothes off.

I'm more offended by Russell Brand being baptised in the Thames.
That said, it's full of shit, like him so appropriate.
Why do alleged sex offenders think being born again absolves them from their past sins/potential legal suits. Same stunt as Andrew Tate embracing Islam.

Aargh I've just watched a video of all the celebs posing for photographs. I'd give my right chubby arm to look anything like that (the posing is a bit silly but it's for the photos innit), and the Met Gala is supposed to be art - tits and arse can be art, maybe it's just not to everyone's taste.

I doubt any of them will be crying all the way back to the mansion in the limo at what a bunch of us vipers think anyway.

Oh guess mumsnet not the place for over exaggeration as a form of humour. Is there an emoji for eye roll

You've made the mistake of thinking MN allows a sense of humour at all, it brings out the holier-than-thou brigade very quickly!

crumblingschools · 07/05/2024 21:26

But my question is are they just doing this because it is a patriarchal society. Would they be as noticed/or wear such clothes if it was only women noticing them, or women had the power in the industry.

Do they have power wearing these clothes or are they being exploited?

InSpainTheRain · 07/05/2024 21:27

I thought she looked amazing, if I had her figure and money is flaunt it too! She's young, enjoying herself, no ill will from me!

Cuckoochanel80 · 07/05/2024 21:29

This thread reminded me of when Whitney Houston was asked in an interview-

'What do you think of Mariah Carey?'

Her reply-

'What do I think of her?....

.....I don't think of her'

Hahahaha classic

Yes there is 🙄
With regards to singing you may well be correct but it you catch her cameo in Southpaw you might find that she is a surprisingly talented actress.

There are plenty of patriarchal societies where women will get beaten up for exposing their hair or faces. The issue is not whether women wear burkas or bikinis, the issue is that they can wear what they want and people should focus on the actual power structure they claim to care about rather than how some woman chooses to dress. Women's clothes aren't the problem. They aren't that powerful. If they were we could all wear power suits and end oppression at once.

The price of freedom is that some people will do stuff you don't like. Ora's bloody dress isn't the issue.

What's a butter face? Whatever, she's v pretty

‘Nice body, but her face…’ = ‘butterface’ or just ‘butters’ for short.

Mischance · 07/05/2024 13:06

Never heard of her ......

Thank God I'm not the only one! As one who takes zero notice of what's what in the music world I'm often at a loss to recognise names.

SpeedbirdSquawker · 07/05/2024 21:35

She's stunningly beautiful.

Viviennemary · 07/05/2024 21:41

I have heard of her but haven't a clue what she actually does. Whether a singer an actress or just somebody who doesn't do much but earns loads. Nice work if you can get it I suppose.

Whenwillitgetwarm · 07/05/2024 21:45

I think Brooklyn Beckham looked worse. Why does he attended these things? He does nothing, he always looks lost and apologetic and like a 15 year old on work experience. His suit probably cost £££ but it looks like it’s from Primark or the market. It’s the way he carries himself and the jewellery.

I think you are missing the point about the MET Gala outfits.

Canteloupetoday · 07/05/2024 21:48

I read that she used to have three ways with Beyonce and jay z, and this, I think, is probably why she has been so successful

nowayjosephine · 07/05/2024 21:50

Well, the 'dress' she wore to the Met gala was not the most flattering and she can look fabulous. See JLo for va-va-voom glamour! Her husband seemed to be wearing a deconstructed vinyl sofa from the 1980's but you've got to laugh. It's the juxtaposition of him plethered up to the max and her wearing next to nothing which is sad. You'd think these celebs would have better stylists.

She has some talent and a look, I don't think she's quite the best/worst example of what you're saying. The Met Gala is all a silly media circus anyway.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 07/05/2024 17:45

She’s hardly young though is she at 33?

I guess she’s wearing these outfits before she has kids/gets divorced.

No she's wearing the outfits because she can. At 33 she can still not think about the clothes she's wearing.

SocksAndTheCity · 07/05/2024 19:47

Again, why is it that women who are wearing something you disapprove of or wouldn't choose for yourself must be doing so because they 'feel the need' to?

Is the idea that they might like the clothes and want to wear them that impossible to get your head round just because their preference differs from yours?

They may well like the clothes but I would think the main purpose is for attention, due to the business they're in?

I can't help it, I prefer elegant.

RobertaFirmino · 07/05/2024 21:59

Outrageous outfits at the Met Gala, whoever would have thought it...

LOL are you taking the piss?! 😆

I bet you are one of these posters who says 45 is a great age to have a baby. And when a poster says she feels her life is over at 55 and her best days are behind her, you say 'but you're so YOUNG OP!' 😆

'33 is hardly young?' Of course it's young. Don't talk such rot!

Come on! The OP and the posters agreeing with her don't want to hear THAT! 😆

They only want to hear nasty, shitty comments about Rita Ora!
