RITA ORA- an example of all that is wrong with the world

I am being unreasonable, and not sure whether its jealousy or irritation that she has done so well with little discernible talent. However, she irritates me intensely for being presumably financially very successful for not wearing any clothes. MET Gala case in point. She is just such a narcissist. I know there are others out there, but she doesnt even have a crap reality show with her sisters

@LesmisPhantom, I think Dua Lipa has a few things. Great catchy pop songs, and approachable cool. She is very good looking, not not outrageously so. One of the prettiest girls in class level. Cool, but not intimidatingly so.

TerryFuckwit · 07/05/2024 20:27

The vast majority of boy bands and girl bands who've been successful have done so with very little musical talent. Stealing a living from the naive who swoon at their pretty faces.

Windypants21 · 07/05/2024 20:31

Rita Ora is talented and doesn't need to be semi naked, so it's a stretch to say i implied all women who dressed scantily were talentless.....it makes me question why they need to do it if they go on to demonstrate they're immensely talented, so all well and good. I referenced another woman for comparison who I feel hasn't got any real talent and exposes herself to get 'airtime'. If they want to go out there and shake it all about so be it, but I don't have to admire them for it, and i dont think it adds any credibility to them or their 'art'. I'm not sexist, illogical or reductive, i don't want to see anyone's bare ass flapping around in the name of fashion, or music, be they male or female. Women have been coerced, manipulated, abused and exploited in the fashion and film industry and I welcome those women who are now saying stop asking me dumb questions about how big my ass is, or, as happened in a few cases, whether they were wearing underwear under their costumes! But if you're running around at all the 'galas' exposing everything that god gave you then it makes it difficult to complain about being objectified.

Whether we like it or not what we wear, or not, has some bearing on how we are perceived by men and women. If a new male boss came to work with his shirt open to his navel, he would be ridiculed, and assumptions would be made about his credibility until he proved otherwise, women are no different.

Monicaaa · 07/05/2024 20:31

@MaryMack
Ha ha amazing, did think it disproves the saying 'you can't polish a turd' cos that suit is very shiny.

For clarity I don't think Taika is a turd, i like his work.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 07/05/2024 20:41

Not a fan either but think it is because of her antics with married men in the past. Did you see what that Ratjovic (spelt wrong) woman was not wearing. Lots at met gala with nipples and bits on show, desperate for attention. Yet they expect men not to look at them.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 07/05/2024 20:44

I don't think her dress so bad as least all bits covered. One woman was wearing what looked like a wet white sheet all see through no bra all on show. Some of the dresses were beautiful and classy though and what the met gala all about, pity is a few trashy to bring the tone down. Rita looks like Jennifer Lopas in met photo.

Yes, how dare an Albanian refugee find success in her adoptive home, have a number one single and album and over a dozen top ten hits, become an honorary ambassador for her maternal country, and go on to be adored by millions. She should be sent to Rwanda!

One of my relatives worked with her. She wasn’t very friendly.

Toooldforthis36 · 07/05/2024 20:52

God bless Queen Kathy Burke and her Rita Ora wisdom though 🤣

Err... not the dress she changed to for the after party... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-13391247/amp/Rita-Ora-covers-breasts-husband-Taika-Waititi-return-hotel-night-Met-Gala.html?ico=amp_related_replace

Awful desperate look

Rita Ora and her husband Taika Waititi return after partying all night

With her ample cleavage on full display in the unforgiving sunlight, Rita attempted to preserve her modesty by covering her chest as she headed up to her room with the director.

BustyLee · 07/05/2024 20:55

Wow. I just read that some of the bead on Ora’s dress are from the 1st century BC.

I am beyond jealous - I would love to go to the Met Gala and see all the wonderful fashion up close irl. Whatever we think many of those clothes are works of art.

No, you just said that you thought they were. "When I see women scantily dressed I think they have little talent." Even while accepting Ora does have talent, so you know it's nonsense but you do it anyway. Good to see you have accepted that the problem is actually your attitude.

Such ridiculous judgements (a woman's dress has nothing to do with how well she sings, acts, writes, plumbs or treats other people) are one way by which women are exploited, so if you're so anxious that they should be treated like people and judged on what they do rather than what they wear, you know where to start.

Stop using systemic exploitation of women to whitewash your own sexism about women's clothing. You aren't fighting it, you're perpetuating it.

If you think Rita Ora is bad - TRY THIS! 😱😂🙄

Bear Grylls ‘helped baptise Russell Brand’ in River Thames (msn.com)

For Fuck Sake, I actually hate Russell Brand!
Rita Ora is annoying but I wouldn't say she's a narcissist she just likes to flaunt what's she's got.

Yacht girl... wins misogynist comment of the day.

Thanks babe 🏆

These rumours have been circulating for years, it's nothing new.

The only song I know of hers is New Rules which I really like. As I’ve learnt from this thread, my knowledge of her was limited!

Singershevi · 07/05/2024 21:04

Arguably, it takes more graft to be successful without talent than with it. I don’t think she is without talent actually but it seems a popular opinion on this thread.
I quite like some of her catchy little tunes and it seems to me she’s from a really hardworking family. Good for her I say. Go Rita!

LondonFox · 07/05/2024 21:04

Tbh I don't know any of her songs but still know she is smart enough to run business with singing, being judge on some show and selling her things at Primark.
Good for her.
You don't need special talent to be sucessfull. I look at every girl who racks so much with "no skills" as amazing inspiration how far you can go if you work for it.

And OP, Met Gala is about having the most photographed dress! From Rihannas scrambled egg to one of the Kardashians fully (painted?) black, to Blake and her colour changeing dress. No one is going there in LTB and trying to lay low. And here you are making MN click and goigle search Rita. She played you nicely!

Women attacking women for what they choose to wear/their appearance etc. Is this what mumsnet feels is ‘in the spirit’? 🧐

SabreIsMyFave · 07/05/2024 21:06

@Allfur

What's a butter face? Whatever, she's v pretty

@Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain is playing down what she means. She is being pretty vile about Rita Ora. Butterface or Butters means butt-ugly. Let's see a photograph of you @Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain !!! Hmm

SabreIsMyFave · 07/05/2024 21:10

BobbyBiscuits · 07/05/2024 19:22

She's trying to make it in the states (again, first time she was sucking off jay z so she got kicked out) but it's not coming off. I always think she looks like she's just been styled by so many people, but does not have her own unique style or look at all. Yet she doesn't really have the figure for a model. I don't think I've ever heard her sing or speak? So yeah, not a major fan. Her husband is starting to annoy me now as well, and I used to quite like him.

Wow, @BobbyBiscuits Rita Ora really does live rent free in your head doesn't she? 😂 You know a lot more about her than I do, for someone who hasn't heard her or sing - or speak! 😆 I don't even know who her husband is!

Yeah I am amazed this thread is still standing. It's fucking vile, and is bringing out the nasties.

AngeloMysterioso · 07/05/2024 21:12

Before the photos came out I made a bet with myself that Rita Ora and Emily Ratajkowski would be basically naked as usual.

I won.

The theme last night wasn’t dress to shock, it was The Garden of Time, with the exhibit being Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. So whimsical, ethereal, romantic.

What those two did was get their tits and asses out like they always do because it’s all they have to offer.

Sofaz34 · 07/05/2024 21:14

Watch Louis theroux meets Rita orange in bbc player. I also used to find her irritating but this episode made me change my mind.

BobbyBiscuits · 07/05/2024 21:15

@SabreIsMyFave I've never thought about her really, but was sharing my fifty pence. 🤣
Sorry if you disagree? Her husband is a famous Hollywood movie director.

TooBigForMyBoots · 07/05/2024 21:16

The MET Gala theme is always dress to shock. It's why I love it.😍

crumblingschools · 07/05/2024 21:16

Do people think women wear these clothes because they like them? Do they wear body stockings and see through clothes on a normal day, and just add a bit of sparkle when on show?
