It's raining again!

It's Bank Holiday Monday. It's tipping it down with rain, and will be all day. Its forecast to rain all day.

Husband is working and was looking forward to doing someone with the kids.

I know that the good folk of mumsnet will say just put waterproofs on. We can do that. We've done that for months.

I'm just fed up of the rain. Not being able to see when I walk because my glasses don't have windscreen wipers.

Not being able to sit down outside.

I want to.leave the house. Spend time with the children. Not spend a fortune. And feel.some sunshine.

Argh
This is a vent thread, come and join me if you too are fed up.

climate change - warm air picks up more water than cooler air.

People need to drive less, waste less energy and buy better

Dishwashersaurous · 06/05/2024 09:23

I know its caused by climate change. I am well aware of the global failure to meet the paris accords.

But today I am just very fed up and I personally can't do anything about it today.

I'm fed up of miserable weather, and rain.

KickboxingWanker · 06/05/2024 09:31

Oh no whereabouts are you?it’s beautiful in the north west - no rain forecast either.

moonlitmaze · 06/05/2024 09:32

Sorry to say this but it's a beautiful morning here.

menopausalmare · 06/05/2024 09:34

I hear you, sister 😔

longdistanceclaraclara · 06/05/2024 09:47

I'm with you. I am so fed up with it.

LadyKenya · 06/05/2024 09:50

Yep, cloudy, and grey, and miserable. Rain expected later⛈.

Iggityziggety · 06/05/2024 09:52

Me too.. Saturday was lovely, spent all afternoon in and out of the garden with DD. Shoes off, picnic blanket out, thinking it might be the start of better weather. Wake up yesterday to bright sunshine, then an hour later the sky goes grey and it starts shitting it down with rain again. Sunny here now but rain forecast this afternoon. It's so depressing, would really love just a few consecutive days with no rain.

EternalSunshine19 · 06/05/2024 10:12

Its depressing, but you can do things other than stay at home. Go to a museum, or softplay (they don't cost much). Or if you are staying at home do some baking. My daughter loves making cupcakes and cookies. Or do some painting or craft things with your kids.

Dishwashersaurous · 06/05/2024 10:16

Trains are rubbish because its a bank holiday, do trip to the city for museums.etc is out.

We Will craft, bake, lego, films, do imaginary play etc.

But I just want to go outside and not be wet!!

And I can't tantrum in real life so doing it here

it was lovely on saturday,
wish i had taken more advantage of it

LlynTegid · 06/05/2024 10:18

It is a bank holiday. It rains. Do not be surprised.

Dogs bark, cats miaow, the Pope is a Catholic.

Riverlee · 06/05/2024 10:20

It’s been nice the last couple of days so we made the most of it then, knowing that rain was forecast today. Feel sorry for all the fetes, car shows, football tournaments etc scheduled for today.

Down south, the next few days don’t look too bad.

Lonelycrab · 06/05/2024 10:21

Yup, pretty crap here in Hampshire. Hoping to get out for a walk later but don’t fancy getting caught in a downpour, apparently might be some thunderstorms today.

Just glad we got out for a couple of hours bike ride yesterday and a walk Saturday too.

Emmerald · 06/05/2024 10:23

Sunny and 18° here in Lincoln!

Sillyjane · 06/05/2024 10:25

Supposed to get better here from tomorrow, hitting 24 by the weekend,,

MaryFuckingFerguson · 06/05/2024 10:26

I know. It’s grotty out there. But yesterday was lovely and we sat outside all day and had a barbecue in the evening. And we planted 20 shrubs for a hedge, so they’ll be getting watered in.

But it’s still annoying.

TiredCatLady · 06/05/2024 10:29

12 degrees, raining and all round grey.

Utterly fed up of it.

Belfastchild74 · 06/05/2024 10:32

There used to be a good joke...

It's a bank holiday, drive to your nearest motorway and stay there all day

Weather was fab here the last 2 days and dry today, but cold and overcast
(Not in Belfast as my name might allude)

rubyslipperss · 06/05/2024 10:34

Am annoyed - rain rain , was meant to be going to local big city to see DD shopping and lunch but major train line which is practically all cancelled and too much rain :(

TheYearOfSmallThings · 06/05/2024 10:38

Yes, it's raining heavily here too 😠. But at least Saturday and Sunday were mostly nice, which is better than we were expecting.

Willmafrockfit · 06/05/2024 10:50

saturday was unexpetedly nice!

earther · 06/05/2024 12:21

No rain in my area yet but i do like the rain so i dont mind.

Mimilamore · 06/05/2024 12:30

How it changes the mood... yesterday sun out am, visit to nearby outside play area with grandchild. Picnic, blanket, icecream van taking money, happy to feel the sun. About 3, goes dark, we all soldier on as not cold just gloomy but then the nippy wind begins. Gradually gather up, as do others but glad we made most of day.
Today, grey, wet, cold, motivation gone... and I walk all weathers but just want to be able to sit down outside and bask a bit 🫤
