It's raining again!

It's Bank Holiday Monday. It's tipping it down with rain, and will be all day. Its forecast to rain all day.

Husband is working and was looking forward to doing someone with the kids.

I know that the good folk of mumsnet will say just put waterproofs on. We can do that. We've done that for months.

I'm just fed up of the rain. Not being able to see when I walk because my glasses don't have windscreen wipers.

Not being able to sit down outside.

I want to.leave the house. Spend time with the children. Not spend a fortune. And feel.some sunshine.

I'm with you OP! Rare day off for me, dh and kids and where we love everything is outdoors activities but we also have colds so don't want to go out.

We will have a roast tonight and a movie this afternoon with popcorn and may or may not attempt monopoly.

It's a beautiful, sunny, blue skies day in Tynemouth.

climate change - warm air picks up more water than cooler air.

People need to drive less, waste less energy and buy better

Yeah that’s not going to help when private jets and companies produce more CO2 per day than the average person does in a year

Peachoolongtea · 06/05/2024 12:37

I agree sick of it :( the damp has got into the house and turned everything mouldy. Sick of trudging around and getting water in my shoes. Sick of not being able to straighten my hair because the rain will just ruin it! So done with it now.

x2boys · 06/05/2024 12:40

Sorry to.hear that ,its glorious here in my part of the North west, no so stealth boast!

Q124 · 06/05/2024 12:48

I assumed everywhere had nice weather today. I ran at 8am this morning and was so hot I had to take my top off. It was clear blue skies and 17 degrees already at that time. Clouded over a bit now but still v warm.

A naked runner. Oo la la!

This thread title made me think of the Supertramp song of the same name so I just had a nostalgic listen whilst sat in my conservatory with rain bouncing off the roof

Droolylabradors · 06/05/2024 13:23

It's the nice warm rain though. We've got the windows open wide and the house smells of spring. Walked the dogs without a coat in the rain and got so hot.

Talkamongstyourselves · 06/05/2024 13:29

I hear you OP. It's currently 15 degrees here (better than yesterday's 13 I suppose), and forecast to thunder. I'm in North Somerset.

Ha ha, luckily I had a sports bra on!

Its depressing, but you can do things other than stay at home. Go to a museum, or softplay (they don't cost much). Or if you are staying at home do some baking. My daughter loves making cupcakes and cookies. Or do some painting or craft things with your kids.

Anyone else rather gouge their own eyes out than go to a soft play centre on a rainy day?

liveforsummer · 06/05/2024 13:36

We put on waterproofs and went out - because we had to not because we wanted to. It's been shit and now we are all cold and miserable and muddy. We had about an hour of sunshine yesterday and now this feels like payback. YANBU op. It's truly shit!!

ILikePistachios · 06/05/2024 13:37

We're just outside of a yellow thunderstorm warning and I'm very upset about it, I love a good thunderstorm, seems to happen every time and it makes me feel like my storm prep checklists and boxes are all for nothing

That was my immediate thought as soon as I saw the thread title. It's raining again, oh no my love's at an end, oh no it's raining again. That's my ear worm for the day. 😀

DidSomebodySayEnnui · 06/05/2024 13:38

I am so so bored of this too.
Sending solidarity sister

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 06/05/2024 14:09

I'm praying it doesn't rain today or through the night. Cars crapped out and my drivers side window is ever so slightly cracked open. I did try and slide it up manually cos the cars not in my drive, but apart from looking extremely dodgy to anyone driving by I only managed to move it about a millimetre. Not too worried about that though cos it isn't going to go anywhere if someone decides to try and nick off with it

charabang · 06/05/2024 14:22

It's been warm and sunny in Coventry all morning although its a little overcast now. YANBU to be fed up of the weather though. As if life isn't hard enough without waking up to rain and dreary skies.

AngeloMysterioso · 06/05/2024 14:52

YANBU OP. We’re in Kent and it’s been pissing it down all day. We don’t have a tumble dryer and I’m sick of our only options being to turn my home into a Chinese laundry or pay £1/8mins for the dryers at the launderette. I’m sick of having to spend money on indoor activities when we want to get our DC out of the house, or deal with them behaving like caged animals when we stay home. I want to feel the warm sun on my skin, to dry my clothes in the fresh air and let my DC play in the garden.

People have been doing this shit since about September. It's May, it would be nice to do something outdoors and be dry and warm

MsLuxLisbon · 06/05/2024 16:22

I was going to vent as well, because the forecast said rain, but the forecast was lying and it has actually been pretty nice here. I suggest that we all stop looking at the BBC weather app, it tells the most outrageous lies and it is usually over pessimistic.
La Nina is on its way, which I believe usually means much drier weather. I have a feeling this summer is going to be gorgeous. Here, it feels as if the air is shrugging off the damp and gearing up to be lovely.

Well what else are you gonna do? Sit and complain in the hope the weather changes because you want it to

We’ve all done that for months on end, it’s boring now

I hike a lot and I am tired of slogging through mud..I did get out Saturday for the first time in shorts and a vest top - back out today in full wet weather gear, and needed it too!

So, I'm here for an online vent too - I can stay dry when out in the rain but it's not the same, joyful, 'fill the lungs with fresh, country air' type jaunt!
