To finally be looking forward to a GE?

The past election/PM changes have been horrendous. The visceral disappointment was awful each time.

I can’t wait to actually celebrate this year. I know, I know, Labour are going to set fire to the economy and tax everyone £3mil each and it’ll cost you 4 trillion a month to send you kid to private school, and all women will perish immediately because only Tories know what a woman is Hmm

But finally! It’s been a long fucking time coming.

This is not what I am saying. It would be, if only State edu was excellent too.

In fact, in countries where State Edu is funded properly, with great facilities and staff, decent size classes- most people do not choose private schools. Why would you, if the State system is brilliant. Same for health care.

One of my sons works in Switzerland and his business pays for Private Education. There are practically no local kids, only expats. Because local schools are excellent.

But thats so weird. So as long as in your own head you can convince yourself that you are doing it for the right reasons, then its fine but if you are simply splashing the cash to get a leg up then it's not. Who decides??

😂 omg that Corbyn pic

I can see why some of you are such fans

(not really)

I really can't wait for the GE. There will be Mumsnetters exploding all over these boards.

Oh stop! It brings back so many scary memories of pre 2019 election when people were genuinely frightened he'd be PM. Luckily the trusty North saved the day!!

I am beginning to worry that the server won't be able to cope with the volume of traffic finding reasons to explain why Rish! is more popular than Starmer even as the former jets off to California.

Is it the beard, or his smile that you love so much?

IClaudine · 06/05/2024 20:53

Objectively I suppose you could say Sunak is better looking than Corbyn. But looks really ain't every thing.

If you look at this thread, I don't think anyone is saying that. It's a lovely idea for a Labour supporter ,, the schadenfreude of tory fans getting egg on their face at the election but looking at the polls there really aren't many of those sorts of fans any more. I'm spoiling my ballot I think and I know are many others.

Corbyn is 5cm taller though, so probably that is what appeals to @EasternStandard

Well even if no one has said it, I could just make up facts, like a pp was.

If you mean me in a slightly non-confrontational way, I haven't made up any facts (you've just decided I have using your own biases) but it's a great tactic to try and discredit someone if a little underhand. But that's the left for you. Entirely to be predicted.

If you didn't mean me then many apologies. You area straightforward and genuine poster that doesn't play games.

stripycats · 06/05/2024 21:09

There's been a heck of a lot of ignoring of facts, I know that.

It's tricky. Some posters don't really understand what facts are. They think their feelings count as facts.

@Anuggetofpurestgreen you have been making me laugh today 😂

RheaRend · 06/05/2024 21:31

If Labour get in then our hospital services are at risk of closing completely here, they did it last time and gloated. We never got them back.

Do you spend lots of time with 3 year olds? Or are you naturally like this? It's the combination of fantasy and attitude that made me wonder.

I know. Sorry. You're always so right about everything. I need to buck my ideas up and take mumsnet more seriously. It's important.

Its late, and I may be struggling for comphrehension.

I think you are saying that Labour closed down your hospital services that have never reopened and are now going to close down the same services again.
How can a service that has closed and not reopened be closed again?

you forgot about the most essential bit.

Not giving up on fighting and working hard to improve state edu and health care for all, rather than just say and think 'you cares about the other kids and people'. For me, that is how I decide.
