To finally be looking forward to a GE?

The past election/PM changes have been horrendous. The visceral disappointment was awful each time.

I can’t wait to actually celebrate this year. I know, I know, Labour are going to set fire to the economy and tax everyone £3mil each and it’ll cost you 4 trillion a month to send you kid to private school, and all women will perish immediately because only Tories know what a woman is Hmm

But finally! It’s been a long fucking time coming.

I really would like to see James Daly and whoever started the Parker investigation charged with wasting police time. Unfortunately I can see this being an ongoing Tory tactic as we get closer to the election unless it’s cracked down on.

You said the wrong name. You’re meant to post endlessly about Nadine Dorries and some book

@JessS1990 has gone off to hang out with donkeys so it seems they’re given up. Others will have to pick up the effort

The donkeys were on fine form and confirmed that Sunak and his gang of asses do not have their support.

Having seen what is happening in state schools currently, then I understand that if you have a child in crisis and the option/privilege to move them then you would.
However, I can’t balance that with a vote for the continuation of the same government who have damaged the state education system so horrendously in the last 14 years.
We’ll know more about from Labour once they get the chance to release their manifesto; what I’ve read/heard about their policies on early intervention certainly sounds like a vast improvement.

This sums up how I feel about anyone who would vote for a tory gov purely because of the Labour policy on private schools. It's so short sighted. These kids you're so intent on keeping in a private school would finish education and have to live in a world where the tories have systematically dismantled everything that has been put in place to help them. How are they going to cope when unable to get a doctors appointment or access any practical help with life 18+?? Keeping them in private school is going to be the least of your problems in 8 years time.

I can't believe you'd listen to them. They're being investigated for a Carrot Heist!

That appears to be what you’re saying in fact

I googled to see who said it videos and articles for Ang. If she didn’t want that then don’t say it, it’s not hard. I mean maybe it is for gobby types but most people can rein it in. There will likely be more of the same

Something about Nadine Dorries book, at this point no one cares. Given it’s good old Ang in the video footage and written about and that’s what will stick.

I think it is important to remember that the people in her constituency were greatly exercised by the comments which is why in large numbers they voted for the party she is the deputy leader of last week.

Tax the Donkeys! they live in a £10m field.

#privileged.

Yep, Zahawi, Hunt, Sunak himself over his wife's interests in childcare providers which he never disclosed...

Its a witch-hunt, against a woman, done by the media, the police and politicians... all supported by many on here, we ve learnt nothing all.

Neither the HMRC or the Police were ever interested in what happened many years ago.

Tories even tried it on with Labours Richard Parker, reported for not being eligible to stand as Mayor, can't win at the ballot box... we'll report you!!!

Presumably Sunak is unhappy to associated himself with Ben Houchen who has significant allegations of fraud levelled against him, and considerable evidence of that fraud is in the public domain?

Oh is that why he didn’t wear a blue rosette? Because he didn’t want to embarrass Sunak? I see it clearly now!

One of them was telling me about how they dodge inheritance tax as the field they live in is agricultural land and so exempt.
No wonder the UK is a net importer of food if those who own land do so in some cases because it means they avoid tax rather than because they have any interest in farming it.

Is this it for the next five years? Nadine wrote a book and made us do it.

Sounds exciting

Would you prefer it if we all adopted your "ignore any question I don't like and then flounce when pressed" tactic of debate?

I love your commitment to this. It’s touching

Shall we do this again in another year? I know your headspace is already allocated so whenever really 🙌

JessS1990 · 06/05/2024 13:14

I am thinking of writing to Sunak and suggesting the 22nd August as the date for the GE so that all his many misunderstood fans can have an extra day off work on the Bank Holiday to try and process their grief.
Although if the local election results are a guide, they may need more time than that.

I didn't say not being able to have it was an insult, but interesting how that's the bit you zone in on

Can't have other people thinking you're not wealthy or keeping up appearances can we!

Everybody votes through a selfish lens, everyone.

That's the point.

OneTC · 06/05/2024 14:38

I salute your optimism OP 🫡

BIWI · 06/05/2024 14:42

@Vistada

OK. I should have quoted all of your post. (Nice edit by the way Hmm)

"I can't have it so I'm going to stamp my feet and make it harder for everyone else to have it because the chip on my shoulder is everyone else's problem"

Typical labour voter

The bold bit is you insulting me, just to make it clear. (Although frankly all of it was pretty insulting)

AhNowTed · 06/05/2024 14:50

I cannot fucking wait.

I wonder will the Tories manage to squeeze in yet another PM to enjoy a lifetime of public funding and an honours list, for a few months works.

Zonder · 06/05/2024 15:22

Good point @AhNowTed if labour managed to get through a full term on one PM that would save the country hundreds of thousands a year for decades to come.

SherbsL · 06/05/2024 17:22

Anuggetofpurestgreen · 06/05/2024 11:47

Ruined the theme at the start of your post being great Labour women with a great back story. I was slightly agreeing with the Angela point (although wouldn't vote for her) but then you mentioned the Abbot.

I didn't read the rest of your post. Apologies.

Not ‘the Abbot’ but Diane Abbot, the daughter of immigrants who went to Cambridge University in the 1970s, became the first black female MP and who has served her constituents for the best part of four decades campaigning for many vulnerable groups (including setting up the Black Child initiative). You don’t have to like her, agree with what she does/says or her politics, and I’m not sure what your criteria for a great back story actually means or signifies, but she’s more than the sum of the Daily Mail headlines aimed at her.

Anuggetofpurestgreen · 06/05/2024 17:28

She may be all those things. I think she's also a hypocrite and not fit for high office. Labour MPs can be criticised as well as Conservative MPs. I don't want to argue with you about it though.

She is 71? not got the whip, she wont be in any position of High Office but is she stands again, she'll be elected so must be doing something right?

What has she done that deserves so much criticism?

It's a bit like me trying to argue to you the merits of someone like (and totally for the purposes of me trying to make the point and no other reason) Jacob Reese Mogg. It would be completely unreasonable of me to try and persuade you that you need to respect his achievements and greatness. (I'm assuming you wouldn't so apologies if you like him too) . Diane Abbott was one of the main reasons people recoiled from Labour. Her hypocrisy re her kids schooling, her incompetence combined with a patronising manner, her loyalty to Jeremy Corbyn (friend of Hamas, friend of the IRA) and attempt to get him into Number 10 (Sir Keir is also guilty of this). I don't really want to rehash it as shes such a depressing blast from the past and Im so glad we dont have to hear much from her ..FOR THE MOMENT!! So let's just leave it there please. If you continue, I really am going to assume its Dianne typing your posts for you.

Oh dear, you really are just trying to wind people up without sticking to facts. Probably best if we take your posts with the pinch of salt and they deserve.
