To finally be looking forward to a GE?

1000 replies

Cadela · 04/05/2024 21:32

The past election/PM changes have been horrendous. The visceral disappointment was awful each time.

I can’t wait to actually celebrate this year. I know, I know, Labour are going to set fire to the economy and tax everyone £3mil each and it’ll cost you 4 trillion a month to send you kid to private school, and all women will perish immediately because only Tories know what a woman is Hmm

But finally! It’s been a long fucking time coming.

YANBU OP; I feel the same.

Labour have certainly got their work cut out for them after the GE, but I absolutely cannot wait to see the back of the ghastly government.

I'm actually such a loser that I'm genuinely excited for the GE night - planning to get in nice snacks and drinks and stay up all night getting immense enjoyment from seeing one Tory after another lose their seats. Grin

Omg me too 😂 i felt so gloaty today about Sadiq!

@DuncinToffee Nah you did not because politicians are politicians and I do not waste my time obsessing about political parties. However, I dislike when people try to shut you up with the Trump thing as you did.

How do you rate your comprehension?

I said ‘Grown ups? Like people who call fellow MPs ‘scum’ ‘transphobic’ ‘dwarfs’ etc? Or like grown ups who don’t understand scientific fact? Grown ups who lie? Grown ups who stop speaking to fellow MPs because they say something they don’t like?..’

All of the above are actual things that Labour Party MPs have said / done. The opposite of the ‘grown ups’ you said you were looking forward to seeing running the country. Absolutely nothing incoherent or rant like there. Just factual information. Again, I know you might not like that. That’s ok. Neither does your party.

😂 sorry I highlighted the fact your post was nonsense.

No, you made yourself look a bit silly.

Which MP used the term "dwarf" in relation to another MP?

BIossomtoes · 05/05/2024 23:13

How do you rate your comprehension?

Well let’s put it this way, I got the highest score ever recorded in a verbal reasoning test so it’s probably OK. I think we’re probably done here now, don’t you? This is achieving the square root of nothing.

And I do apologise. They didn’t say ‘dwarf’! They said ‘pint-sized loser’. Much more grown up.

SherbsL · 05/05/2024 23:18

Bululu · 05/05/2024 22:40

Once Labour is in it is going to be like Biden in the US a total shit show that most of us can see from now.

How would you describe the last 14 years of Tory government? Genuinely, I’m interested to know. We’ve had austerity, Brexit, the (mis) handling of Covid, the corruption, illegalities, the resignations, the Truss experiment, two unelected PMs, the unelected cabinet minister (Cameron), Lee Anderson, inciting racism (Braverman), criticism from fellow Tories (Stewart, May, Major, Clarke, etc), a cost of living crisis while energy companies/supermarkets record massive profits.

Yours is such an interesting message and choice of language (not to mention irrelevant comparison) from someone who described Labour supporters as ‘emotional’ in response to a comment on them being ‘uncivilised’…

And no, I’m not deluded enough to think Labour will rescue everything - that’s not how people think in reality.

DancingAgain · 05/05/2024 23:18

I do think it’s pushing it to say either side act like grown ups. We tell our kids not to name call yet our politicians are all at. Embarrassing really. I have a 20 year old who can vote in a general election for the first time and it’s difficult to present either side in a favourably light to him.

Ah, you are not going to answer my question. Because we all know it didn't happen.

Nadine Dorries called Sunak a pint sized loser. Very different to using the term "dwarf". I don't like Dorries, but one should be accurate.

DancingAgain · 05/05/2024 23:19

*at it.

Was it the same MP who talked about picaninnies and bumboys?

I think pint sized loser, said by labour, and dwarf, said by a Tory, are both awful. You can’t really defend either of them.

😂😂 I corrected myself. But instead of accepting that you go off on a little childish detour. Peculiar but unsurprising.

Nobody said dwarf and it was a Tory who originally said pint sized loser.

Don't forget describing Muslim women as "letterboxes".

It was Blossom who said

‘I’m looking forward to a responsible government compromised of grown ups. How lovely it would be to have the same PM for five years and no infighting.’

I was correcting her, because clearly Labour MPs name call and give silent treatment like some children. But again, don’t let facts get in your way..

DancingAgain · 05/05/2024 23:28

That was awful. Was that Boris? I do think, or hope, Rishi is a little more decent in the use of his language, not that I like him.

And then we have Starmer saying it’s toxic to have conversations about only women having a cervix and refusing to apologise to RD.

They are all an embarrassment.

You weren’t correcting me at all because infighting has nothing to do with the cut and thrust of PMQs - where the Tories also have come up with a selection of choice insults.
