Teacher bought an ex students only fans?

ShyPearlMoose · 02/05/2024 23:59

My friend has an x rated members website and has just told me that our old science teacher from secondary school has bought it! The same teacher that there were always dodgy rumours about him being a creep.

Is this worth mentioning to the school or is that over dramatic? It's really weird but she's 22 now and hasn't been at the school for 4 years.
Thoughts?

She’s 22 so it Will be closer to 5.

But it is four years. And for some reason you're determined to make it five.

Well, it makes a difference if there is, for example, a five year policy. Morally, not so much.

Also, if she's 22 then she was 18 four years ago which is school leaving age so I don't know why you'd be so convinced it must be closer to five.

cardibach · 03/05/2024 18:02

WhatIfHesWrittenMine · 03/05/2024 17:51

I'm astonished by that @cardibach - it's so fundamental in an age of social media. To neglect that policy is to leave staff and pupils exposed to potential harm. I don't know of any schools where teachers would be able to befriend students online the day after they leave and it really shouldn't be the case. It's a scandal waiting to happen, and very surprising to have schools so lax on safeguarding.

Do we know he recognises her? We don't, we only have the details in the OP to go on - but based on the fact that the OP is considering reporting him, that suggests that she and her friend have reason to believe that he does know who she is. Clearly they don't think it's coincidental.

Edited

I didn’t say immediately after they leave (though I have worked in schools where this is effectively possible).
Im not sure there’s anything in the OP to suggest they suspect he knows who she is. They just don’t like that a teacher is on there. Neither do I really, but it’s not illegal or against safeguarding - unless it can be proved he deliberately hunted down her account, which I’m not sure is even possible. Does she use her real name? Does he? How would he know to look?

WillYouPutYourCoatOn · 03/05/2024 18:10

How does onlyfans work though? As in could he actually seek her out? Is there a search function where he could deliberately locate her specifically? How do you select?

Well the worst-case scenario would be that he is a predator, and picks girls that he teaches and finds them online (I have worked with a teacher who did this and was sacked and barred from teaching again, though the case sadly fell short of prosecution) and that she has either linked her OF with other open social media and he's found her like that, or that she does use her real name. And that he is specifically excited by her OF because of the memories of her in school.

That is one possibility - and no one can say it isn't possible. Groomers and predators tend to be in it for the long-haul and are sinister, sneaky and absolutely determined.

At the other end of the spectrum is that her profile is anonymised and by random chance out of all the hundreds of thousands of OF profiles, he's accidentally and unknowingly landed on the page of a former pupil that he can’t even recognise. It is another possibility. It seems farfetched to me, but I accept it could happen.

Or it's something in between. And in cases of doubt, people should report. If I was working with a teacher who subscribed to former pupils' OF, or if my kids were taught by a teacher who did this, I would be very unhappy and I would hope it would be investigated.

🤨 men who buy onlyfans are disgusting and have no respect for women. Bollocks to his "private life" that involves buying women like objects.

He can’t buy what’s not for sale.

He can't, but he doesn't have to buy it if it is for sale - something being for sale doesn't mean you have an obligation to buy it. He has made a choice.

This is the issue surely. This can't possibly be coincidence. Which means he knows she's a former pupil, remembers her, and is getting some kind of kick out of her being a former student. I can't believe how many people aren't concerned by that.

I agree he’s a dirty bugger but this is what happens when sites like Only fans exist.

Yes, men have never been sleazy or predatory before Only Fans and their behaviour is always womens' fault.

Well, I'm not sure, I'm a male teacher, who is (and has been for 18 years) married to an ex pupil, and I honestly can't remember her or teaching her!

We met when she came back to the school after uni as an NQT, I taught her (I did I checked the records) in my second year teaching A level physics, but honestly have no recollection of it - which she still finds annoying!!

As to this fellow, OnlyFans is seedy, but it's not illegal, and this girl is what, 22, long since left school - I can't see the school would be interested and she could be done under GDPR I think.

One of those best left alone scenarios, but if I knew it and had him as a colleague I would be keeping an eye on his activities - I've worked with two teachers who has "rumours", both ended up struck off for life - no smoke and all that!

ticktickticktickBOOM · 03/05/2024 19:24

If she doesn't want people looking at her (only) fan(s), don't do only fans

And so did she

fliptopbin · 03/05/2024 19:45

Not defending the guy, but if you teach in a big comprehensive school you are very unlikely to recognise every pupil who left school 4 years ago, particularly if you only say taught them once a week when they were in year 7. Add in possibly a pseudonym and the fact that the pupil could now look quite different, I can quite believe that the teacher could be oblivious.
I say this as an ex secondary school teacher who now lives near a school I once taught at. I regularly get ex pupils coming to chat to me if I pass them on the street and have had to perfect the art of hiding the fact that I have no idea who they are.

Men who buy sex are far worse than women who sell it, always.

dottiedodah · 03/05/2024 19:50

Firstly a young woman in her early 20s is probably just trying to make ends meet.the dearth of jobs that pay well enables this. There is a cancer in our society that means men always seem to be excused" he probably doesn't remember her" or "she has put her bits over the Internet " suggests that she is to blame somehow.Hes a dirty old man .would he like his DD or neice sister drooled over by men with a hard on in their bedroom? Why does he feel able to perv over a young girl he used to teach FFS

I suppose she made a choice of selling her 'content' on OF, and no one forced her. It's a pretty frequent thing I guess that someone you know will find your profiule eventually- are people actually so thick and think they will only be weatched by some unknown members of the public.

TobaccoFlower · 03/05/2024 20:06

On Only Fans does it say the person's real name and location?. Eg. If their name was Lucy Smith and they lived in Leighton Buzzard you'd be able to find them by searching for that?
Also, given that secondary school teachers teach 100s of kids each week, it's not unreasonable to ask if he'd know he taught the girl. That's not people excusing a man, it's a reasonable question.
I've not used Only Fans, so I don't know how easy it would be to look up a specific person he may not even remember

So who do you feel it is ok to sign up to only fans? Who do you think it’s ok for these women to sell to? Cos you know they ain’t doing it for free? And do you even know the age of the teacher? Do you know if he’s 26 or 46?

Did Op say he looked her up because she was an ex pupil?
