Reason for scheduled induction if baby not overdue

Hi,

What medical reason would a woman be given a medical induction when the baby is not overdue? I thought if baby was in danger an emergency C-section would be performed.

Someone I know has had their induction. Scheduled from early on but is trying to cover up the reasons why, so I was curious to find out the medical reason.

Trying to cover up or just doesn't think it's any of your business?

I had a pulmonary embolism and had a planned early induction as it was deemed too risky to let me go overdue. I had an amazing medical team and I completely trusted their decision.

There's a 101 reasons why someone might have a planned induction. It's absolutely none of your business though, I'm disturbed as why you think it might be!

Having RTFT, I wish I hadn't answered. This is something you could have googled. Nasty interfering ciw about sums you up, OP. None of your business snooping about somebody else's medical information. They don't want you to know, good on them for keeping you on the outside

My first baby was induced because my waters had broken but contractions had stopped and medics were concerned about infection risk if waiting around perhaps for days.

Second baby was a second trimester loss, needed help to get him out sadly.

Last baby I asked for an induction at 38 weeks as I was nearly 40 and massively anxious given my previous loss. The consultant did some calculations regarding the stats on failing placenta in women of my age and said mathematically the very slight risk of the placenta failing past 39 weeks was greater than the risk of complications from a slightly early/induced delivery at 39 weeks. (At 38 weeks the risk was slightly the reverse.) So I was booked in for an induction at 39 weeks, which was wasn't needed as she arrived naturally at 37 weeks.

I've never discussed this with anyone except medical staff and my husband. It's not exactly a secret but (a) it's my personal medical info and I don't owe it to anyone and (b) I'd be surprised if anyone would be remotely interested.

I was booked in for an induction at 40 weeks at my request. I was 40 at the time and felt something wasn’t right with pregnancy (3rd child). Good job I did as when I went into hospital they realised baby was wedged transverse in my pelvis, so it was a medical emergency. I has C-section and baby was a whopping 9lb6. Previous births were 5lb!

I had a c section that was planned weeks in advance for my second child due to the emergency c section and circumstances when my first child was born. I was worried history would repeat itself and the consultant agreed it could happen again and this was the best choice for a safe delivery.
