To think colleague has bitched about pot noodle

Last week a colleague said to me "I would never have thought of a pot noodle for lunch!" which I thought was a bit random.

This morning we have all received an email from comms about keeping fridge clean and "avoiding overly smelly and slurpy foods" in lunch room.

I notice that the new Pot Noodle ad had to remove the slurpiness after many complaints.

Ticktapticktap · 29/04/2024 14:44

People in my office microwave herring and kippers. I wouldn't give a shit about a pot noodle!

Citrusandginger · 29/04/2024 14:45

It's a bit mad. I mean I don't love the things and wouldn't recommend them as a healthy meal, but I used to keep one in my desk for busy days when lunch didn't happen.

Complainers care lucky they don't have worse to moan about.

Are you part of the advertising team trying to drum up interest about their new TV campaign?

TBH I wouldn’t have thought of a pot noodle for lunch as I doubt it is really classed as food

I was thinking of the advent too lol

Roja7 · 29/04/2024 14:46

It's a lunch room. We're all different. I take my leftovers and heat them in the microwave and I no longer give any f*kcs what other people think.

It's my food, I'm eating it, no one else is. Don't like it, suck it up.

As an ethnic minority, I grew up with constant taunts from other children about my different food / lunches etc - this seems to only happen in the U.K. as my kids attended international school abroad and didn't encounter the same issues until they returned to U.K. schools.

microwaving kippers and herring?

actual crimes against humanity.

maudelovesharold · 29/04/2024 14:48

Nothing smells as foul as a freshly opened John West tuna light lunch!

ilovesooty · 29/04/2024 14:48

I don't see what pot noodles have to do with keeping the fridge clean.

It's in our handbook at work that microwaving fish will result in the immediate removal of the facility 🤣

GalileoHumpkins · 29/04/2024 14:49

I think I might change my username to AntisocialPotNoodle.

Quite right too! The smell of microwaved fish is worse than the smell of the fartiest farts.

LauderSyme · 29/04/2024 14:56

How strange your colleague is. Pot noodles are literally designed to be a quick and easy hot lunch and are ideal for when you don't have full kitchen facilities, eg. at work!

I wish the comms team in my last job had sent emails to Mr Fish Lover Extraordinaire. His microwaved lunch stunk out the whole floor every day.

And bah humbug to the corporate food techs who thought a lunch pot of boiled egg and spinach was a good idea.

meganorks · 29/04/2024 15:02

I once took left over kedgeree in for lunch. Realised the error of my ways about a minute into the microwaving....
Fish ✔
Egg ✔
Curry ✔
I'd crack on with the pot noodle!

NoahVale · 29/04/2024 15:04

i have taken boiled egg and mackeral salad to work, delicious,
tuna salad/egg salad, dhal, anything goes and i care not!

Not everyone can afford avocado, quails egg and smoked salmon on rye bread for lunch everyday.

DaftFlerken · 29/04/2024 15:10

It is possible to eat a pot noodle without slurping. I hate slurping & can manage it so why can't others?

Oblomov24 · 29/04/2024 15:10

Smelly and slurpy? Grin

Oblomov24 · 29/04/2024 15:10

I love them, but they are quite slurpy. I prefer chicken super noodles.

Oblomov24 · 29/04/2024 15:11

Last nights leftovers are worse?

StMarieforme · 29/04/2024 15:12

I think policing what people eat at lunchtime is rude and abhorrent.

What next? You can only have sandwiches from Marks & Spencer?!

Ridiculous.

The sound of someone eating a pot noodle makes me want to slam my head into the table.

Noisy and smelly foods aren't appropriate for small, communal work spaces.

It makes me want to slam THEIR head into the table!

I'm sorry but they are disgustingly antisocial things with the smell and thr slurry eating sounds.

Think of it as a favour to your health.

I have never eaten a Pot Noodle but I am more grossed out from your language about people eating rather than people actually eating.

Rest assured your eating habits will make others feel similarly.

Negangirlxx · 29/04/2024 15:34

Pot Noodles barely have a smell.

I think heating up fish and eggs, is much more antisocial than eating a Pot Noodle.

Carry on eating your Pot Noodles! Not gonna lie, you’ve made me rather fancy one! 😂

WhoppingBigBackside · 29/04/2024 15:35

Why couldn't you have a mahoosive salad like a normal Mner?
