Neighbours oxygen tank

Tevion1213 · 27/04/2024 17:37

I'm not one to complain and I am usually tolerant but the distinct popping noise from upstairs neighbours oxygen tank is irritating me so much. They are on 17 hours of oxygen so it's going all through the night. I know it's a medical need and don't know how to deal with this.
Its 3 pops followed by a final louder one and it's constant. Anybody please

Take a deep breath.

Coz they ain't and be grateful.

VimFuego101 · 27/04/2024 17:39

I can see how that would be hard to listen to but could you use a white noise app to drown it out?

How about you get onto another thread where you have something useful to say

White noise and a fan on at the same time should help you

Cleaning out the filters can help reduce the noise in oxygen concentrators. I really don’t know how you’d start that conversation with a stranger though. I mean, if someone is ill enough for oxygen then it’s clearly not a good situation. Can you wear ear plugs at night?

Omfg you’re going to hell, and I’m coming with you for laughing 😂

OP, earplugs, white noise or swap your bedroom. Those are your options.

My tiny baby son was on 24hour a day o2 at home… if my neighbours had said anything to me about the noise the normally v polite kind me would have told them to Fuck off

Littlefish · 27/04/2024 17:42

Are you really complaining about noise from life preserving medical equipment.

Un-fucking-believable!

SummaLuvin · 27/04/2024 17:42

Not sure why you’re getting such a hard time OP. The fact of the matter is the is constant sounds from a neighbour impacting sleep and life. The fact it’s life saving noise doesn’t mean it’s not disruptive. Sounds like OP was looking for advice on how to manage since she knows it would be unreasonable to talk to neighbour. All very fair.

Well that's the problem the noise sort of grates on you and yes I'm quite aware I'm lucky to not have to use one so I don't need that brigade on here

This thread will be filled with "fucking hell what's wrong with you, you disgusting human being" type posts.

Everyone likes to think they're a saint.

The reality is it sounds like the aural equivalent of Chinese water torture.

Can you move your bedroom OP? Custom moulded sleep earplugs from Superdrug? White noise? Sleep with AirPods in and something to listen to to drift off?

White noise or a fan. DS works 10pm til 2am and will game to wind down before bed. I can’t sleep if I can hear noise so use the fan to dull the sound. The fans annoying at first but I can’t sleep without it now.

Mischance · 27/04/2024 17:44

Just be sure they do not smoke. I used to visit a patient on 24 hour oxygen who merrily smoked however often I explained the danger.

Jaminajar · 27/04/2024 17:45

Actually OP I think you are getting a really hard time here and that’s unfair- you’re allowed to be irritated by a noise and especially for 17 hours ! It doesn’t make you a bad person it’s not like you’ve gone and had a go at your neighbour!

Perhaps we could offer some ideas for OP rather than having a go ? For all
we know OP could have sensory issues around repetitive noises or a condition where disturbed sleep makes it worse?

Have you tried earplugs or some white noise? Or could you change rooms around if that’s possible Flowers

Spudthespanner · 27/04/2024 17:45

Sorry not Superdrug.

Custom earplugs are made at specsavers.

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 27/04/2024 17:46

OP

The erson may be on their last legs or feeling like life is not worth living. You don't want to add to their burden

Just move on and take some good advice as given by others

Incredible
