Two men, one 20s other indeterminate age 50ish, could have had a hard paper round, got on my bus, every other word F. Older guy wants plenty of legroom to "stretch the fuckers". They're just legs fgs. He's got phone wallpaper that says "I identify as a cunt". I think they're pointless.

No. You're being deliberately obtuse and I didn't say that. I care what people I care about think of me, not blokes who swear on public transport.

You did say that.

I don't give a fig what they think or what you think of me for that matter.

I was with you about the excessive swearing - and I have a vocabulary like a sailor - as I think it should be moderated around children.

BUT you lost me “foul mouthed pair of tattooed chavs”. Your attitude is far more offensive to me.

Tattoos are no longer a marker of social class. That’s your prejudice showing.

Chav is a disgusting way to talk about someone who has had less privilege and less opportunity than you.

Saying ‘chav’ is ‘disgusting’ and ‘offensive’ but being loud and intimidating and swearing on a public bus is perfectly fine? Yeah ok. 🙄

Just fyi - your privelege is showing by policing the language of the working classes, and one would argue, chippy women who object to thuggy male behaviour.

YANBU op. There is no consideration in society for others, and posts like the ones on this thread defending it are part of the reason why we can’t all have common decency anymore.

Low lives. They are everywhere.

Yep. We live among a very low quality public to be honest 🤷🏼‍♀️

Twokittycats · 27/04/2024 11:00

Dirty jobless chavs! Its antisocial to be swearing all the time on public transport. They sounds horrible and grim OP. It’s mad how people are offended by the word chav but I bet they wouldn’t want their DC sitting near them 😂

A ‘hard paper round’?

Wow. They use this a lot where I live (north) but it always makes me wince.
Fuck is said a lot, everyone is a daft cunt, soft cunt or just a cunt.
Dogs tend to be called daft cunt mostly.
Not popular opinion on here but the phone wallpaper I could happily adopt, made me laugh. Really laugh.

Do people in Redditch really say "don't give a fig"?
I've only read that in Enid Blyton books.

5128gap · 27/04/2024 11:14

When not being the brightest star in the sky meets lack of social awareness and a heavy dollop of male entitlement, this is who you get. They are easily amused and swearing passes for wit, and they probably neither know nor care that their overly loud voices can make their conversation sound ugly and aggressive to their captive audience.

katebushh · 27/04/2024 11:23

You're on a bus not a privately driven Mercedes Benz.

Where I live in south London I see all sorts on the bus, it comes with the territory and I'm old enough and wise enough to accept that. I suspect you'd have an aneurism living round here you poor flower!

How are you getting jobless from any of the OPs posts? And what does that have to do with anything anyway?

mondaytosunday · 27/04/2024 11:57

I like that expression!
Swearing as part of regular conversation is unfortunately fairly ubiquitous. His phone screen proves he's quite proud of his vocabulary though.

Lampslights · 27/04/2024 11:58

You’re not really coming across as any better. In fact worse

I agree 100%.
I once really shocked a good friend of mine who I only ever saw when we had our little children with us. We went out for the evening alone my vocabulary was different!

Notimeforaname · 27/04/2024 12:05

OP, your life sounds miserable.

needsomewarmsunshine · 27/04/2024 12:07

Scum class is everywhere, so get over it. Feel free to get this deleted if my opinion offends senstive eyes.

My privilege is showing? I think your haste to judge has interfered with your comprehension.

I’m not policing their language because they are working class. I said it would be reasonable to moderate swearing around children as presumably there would be children on the bus.

I said I agreed with the OP as do you, BUT I find her judgemental attitude more offensive than swearing. OP objecting to ‘thuggey behaviour’ wasn’t the focus of my post, it was way she spoke about people. It was such a dismissive way of referring to anybody that she lost the moral high ground in my eyes.

The OP came on here asking for opinions and I gave one. No need for you to be upset by that.

Why do you care so much about what other people do/say?

5128gap · 27/04/2024 12:40

As a working class woman with a working class partner and adult sons, I object to the no doubt well meaning, but also incredibly patronising idea that WC men are 'just like this', can't help it, and should be gently tolerated by their enlightened betters. WC men come in a variety of guises, from highly intelligent to thick as the wall. Some are well mannered and considerate and understand that a bus load of people may not want to hear them swear. Some are witty and have extensive vocabularies and don't need to really on swear words to be funny. Equally, a quick stroll through the business district of my city on a Friday evening will show you that many wealthy, middle class men are anti social inarticulate louts.

Calm Down Al Pacino GIF

Your bp must be sky high OP

Calderadust · 27/04/2024 12:46

You sound just as horrid tbh.

MoonWoman69 · 27/04/2024 12:48

Was he/they calling you a cunt? No.
Was he/they kicking you to enable them to stretch "those fuckers"? No.
Did he/they show you their wallpaper and ask for your input on it? No.

Should you keep your opinions to yourself and not create posts that show you up to be quite a miserable, snooty, shallow, person? Yes, most definitely!

What an absolutely pointless post! Was it just so that you can show how superior to everyone else you are? Wow, whoopity do and jolly fucking hockey sticks, you win! 🙄

TheIceQween · 27/04/2024 12:51

That's probably true. And I don't give a 🙈🙈🙈 what a foul mouthed pair of tattooed chavs think about me as I don't identify as a CU Next Tuesday. I'll try and get his number for you next time I see him as you seem to think he's just a nice guy!

CU Next Tuesday?

You don't have to be twee.

Just write CUNT.
