I’ll preface this by saying I had a male stalker for 7 years. I moved, changed jobs, and deleted all social media in that time. I’m also a survivor of SA, as well as assault after being spiked, similar to RG in the show.

It completely baffles me that he would completely replicate his stalker down to physical likeness, occupation, accent, exact correspondences and references like hanging curtains.

He is clearly not too worried about people finding the real person, as well as her potentially contacting him again.

If it were me telling my story, I would change all identifying details of both of us, because I would NEVER want to go through it again. RG telling his story this way is hugely weird to me and really speaks to the theme of mutual obsession he hints at in the show.

Well I think it’s bizarre that in a complex, nuanced case you’re taking a black and white tabloid view instead of engaging with its complexity.

If we were reading about the case as a crime report in a newspaper it would be open and shut. The complexity comes from outing the perpetrator in this a fictionalised version on national TV. She may potentially be dangerous, even if only to herself, as she is clearly destructive and also clearly very mentally unwell. Then there exists the different dynamic between stalker and victim that is typically seen in a male on female case. It’s hard to imagine a female writing such an identifying piece, I’m not sure they’d ever sleep properly again if they did. Discussion of how he behaved compared with the average female victim is valid as it points up different experiences of the sexes.

And fair play to him for having that level of honesty. It’s the trial by TV that is problematic on many levels.

It reminds me of 'i will destroy you' - but I guess her attacker was less identifiable

Having just looked at her Facebook it's clearly a hoax and she's spouting the same stuff with the same spellings as the show

It's defo made up and she's playing her part for publicity - has to be!

I know he had it bloody shit, it was hard heavy watching. I don’t want to victim blame but he really didn’t help himself at all. Two very mentally unwell people Martha and Richard. Just the worst luck that their paths crossed.

Richard did feed on the attention, he made plenty of decisions totally destructive not connected to Martha. In fact at times he used the attention from Martha to boost himself.

Weren't some of her tweets from many years ago? Do you really think they set this all up years ago? Of course not.

So if this thread isn't representative of women then which group is it that doesn't take mens abuse seriously and why don't you go and bleat on and on at them instead?

She apparently sent death threats to a man before.

So I'm not sure why people are defending her or suggesting that she should get profit from the show. If the genders were reversed, would people be suggesting that a male stalker gets a cut of the profit?

Wow. The thread has obviously been massively derailed but some of the comments on here are quite shocking. It’s clear that some people believe men simply can’t be victims of sexual harassment or violence. Their experience and feelings might be different from a woman’s experience, or your personal experience, but it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

Sadly I think this thread has shown that.

Abusive language gets you nowhere. It's a poor look no matter what argument you try to make.

As a previous poster said, you steal the language of oppression and then weaponise it.

Hence the responses you've been getting...they're not abusive.

I can assure you that no one is coming across more poorly than you.

I find it all very bizarre, I think there is something extremely strange about it, if someone was as unhinged as she was and had so easily fixated on me for the simple favour of a free drink, I'd want to know they were either dead or in prison with no chance of release before I 'taunted' them like he has done.

Something doesn't seem to add up and it's not that I think he's necessarily lying (although nothing would surprise me) but there is something not right about the whole thing that I can't put my finger on

I think most people are sympathetic to Gadd, but issues still exist when it comes to believing male victims.

Please learn to communicate more civilly.
