Clothing in the gym

I have seen this going around - do you agree with him?

I think I do, I really don't understand the current trend of ridiculously small shorts shoved right into arse cracks and bandeau bras for working out.

I go to the gym 2/3 times a week and feel no need to dress like this.

Or, are they just 'dressing for themselves?'

The anorak thing is intended to increase sweating and make the workout more challenging, I think? Personally, the very thought of exercising in an anorak makes me feel slightly queasy because for me being hot and sweaty is the absolute worst part of exercise!

Baseball caps (the clue being in the name) are designed for sport - as well as keeping sun or rain off your face and shade your eyes for outdoor sports, they keeping sweat from running into your eyes and keep hair out of the way, so I don't find it surprising that people wear them to a gym. I don't use a gym, but if I did, I'd probably wear a baseball cap to use a treadmill or an exercise bike.

It's been proven it's a load of rubbish and you just sweat more and lose more water, it doesn't increase anything else substantial.

Creepy men will be creepy regardless of what women are wearing.

I used to wear leggings and top to the gym and some men were creepy bastards, so much so that I invested in gym equipment at home and no longer go to the gym.

Women can wear what they want, men are capable of controlling their behaviour.

They are capable of controlling their behaviour but they aren’t obligated to control their thoughts.

Good job women aren't mind readers then. If they really are controlling their behavior, then there's no issue surely?

Erm. No. Men are absolutely not entitled to look at women and get erections in public places.
If they lack this self control, they need to stay at home please. Gross.

How does this guy cope on the beach or by the pool? There might be - shock - women in bikinis?? HOW CAN HE POSSIBLY BE EXPECTED TO GO ABOUT HIS DAY??

If a fully grown adult man can’t control getting an erection at the gym, the best has not place being there.

If a man puts his thoughts online and blames women for his lack of control, he should expect to be called out for being a perverted, creepy bastard.

Decent men wouldn’t blame women and if they did find themselves thinking in that way, they would realise they were wrong and not post it.

Most of us notice attractive people and/or those not wearing much, but after we notice them, we can all control what we do next.

ghostyslovesheets · 26/04/2024 19:08

Awww the poor mens and their erections - why it must be a nightmare on the beach

I must be going to the wrong gyms then because in 20+ years I've never been 'picked up' or chatted up - had many a good discussion on sports massage, technique etc but no erections or phone numbers

People on beaches are rarely sticking their arses out doing squats

WaitUpForMe · 26/04/2024 19:09

*That should say he has no place being there

I assume this man copes perfectly fine controlling himself on the beach surrounded by bikini clad women? Or should we all we all be wearing big frocks on the beach too so as not to be too 'sexual'?

I think the way women use the gym has changed a lot in the past 10 years. When I went to the gym 15-20 years ago, I would rarely, if ever, see women lifting free weights or doing strength training. It was all cardio equipment for women and men did the weight lifting. But in recent times women have gotten really into strength training (which is great!) and are probably spending way more time in what used to be considered the 'men's' area of the gym. I think men are probably feeling a bit threatened by not having their own special man cave part of the gym anymore and so have decided to complain that women's clothing is inappropriate, because they can't say out loud they don't want women in the weights section at all.

I agree with this. Love that women can be in the weights section of the gym wearing whatever they find comfortable and it's for them, getting themselves stronger. Screw what the men think

Jesus, women do squats in the gym?? Shocking. Thanks for letting me know so I can go and cancel my gym membership

ghostyslovesheets · 26/04/2024 19:13

Oh we are back to bum fun again

I was working out yesterday in the free weights section with 3 20 something athletically built males - no not staring, actually asking them if they had finished as I needed a bench - I managed to contain me non existent fanny gallops and did try to pick them up

Grown men can absolutely control their erections. If they haven’t learnt to, they should stay home. Not being able to see a woman doing squats at the gym without getting an erection is laughable. Creepy bastards who probably last 3 seconds in the sack. Sad losers.

You might think it gross, but there is no law against looking at people and no law about a concealed erection. Both of which could be involuntary actually - difficult to “look” anywhere if you’re on a machine and facing gym goers who are scantily clad. Erection is physiological response isn’t it?

sadly not - just bog standard 3/4 length leggings (tight mind!) with pockets!!!

I do wear a vest that shows my ample sports bra though - like a wanton harlot

I involuntarily stare at bums all day long. So I feel their pain. Perhaps all the erections have compromised their brain function such that averting their eyes becomes impossible. The poor lambs.

ghostyslovesheets · 26/04/2024 19:22

Must be awful in day to day life for the mens - women in supermarket bending down to get something off the bottom(oh eh Mrs) shelf -boing! Woman in park bending down to give her toddler a kiss - boing! Old lady bending down to pat a dog - boing - I mean all those filthy temptresses out there making them have an erection - I do think staying at home, furiously wanking to Les Mills online might be better for the poor lambs

If it happened to a decent man, they would sit down, look elsewhere and think about something boring. They would most likely feel a bit mortified.

Men that go online to blame women for their lack of control are creepy bastards. Saying these women are basically inviting them to gaze in a sexual manner is creepy. It’s AKWAYS a choice to stare at someone because it’s easy to look away.

You have massive issues if you think it’s appropriate for a man to continue doing weights or whatever with an erection.

I have already said it’s normal to notice people, but it’s a choice to continue to look and stare.

You’re a woman you say. 🤔
