Clothing in the gym

I have seen this going around - do you agree with him?

I think I do, I really don't understand the current trend of ridiculously small shorts shoved right into arse cracks and bandeau bras for working out.

I go to the gym 2/3 times a week and feel no need to dress like this.

Or, are they just 'dressing for themselves?'

Obviously those thong shorts are revolting and are clearly made to draw attention to a naked bum

Once again I'm being accused of being into anal porn Grin (I don't watch porn ever)

Instead I'm a relationship therapist and anal porn is a big thing - literally a big thing (fnar fnar) a big problem. And those leggings are meant to look like gaping.

I warn you not to google.

You're either a shit man, or you know shit men.

Edited

I just told you I’m a straight woman.

I understand biology.

SocksAndTheCity · 26/04/2024 20:05

I know what gaping is, @LaurieFairyCake , I'm an adult (and one who has had a lot of sex, anal included).

I would wonder about anybody who thinks that a pair of mass market leggings or shorts have been specifically designed to mimic the (pretty niche) effect, rather than just emphasise the shape of the wearers arse.

LaurieFairyCake · 26/04/2024 20:06

So you don't think the leggings I posted a photo of earlier are made to mimic gaping?

Really 🤔

It’s common for men to pretend to be women on here, it’s happened quite often.

Simonjt · 26/04/2024 20:08

You can tell how ugly and bad in bed he is from his awful post. Theres genuinely nothing some people wouldn’t blame on women.

Whaleway · 26/04/2024 20:09

Scrunch bum leggings were made to make yo it bum look so big that it makes your leggings stretch.

The unintended effect of the scrunch in the butt crack is that it looks like an anus

I'm not personally convinced it's an anal porn thing, more about the general big bum/thick trend but I'm not expert

Nobody gives a shit about thoughts, Winston Smith. Think what you like. But keep pervy, lecherous and intrusive behaviour to yourself. If you can't do that, stay home. You're far more of a menace to society than a pair of stupid looking leggings.

I think you do stay home, though, because nobody who's ever spent a minute in a gym would think people don't do seated exercises or sit to take rest stops there.

If you say you're not a man, then clearly you know shit men. They are not all plagued by constant wanton erections.

I’m sure it is common.
but I’m not a man
even if I was male, I think the views would still stand.

Your views are disgusting and disturbing.

I suggest everyone ignores this poster. Some people get off on the attention of centring themselves on a women’s forum and saying inappropriate things. 🤢

Really 🤔

I'll happily tell you I truly don't. The design is intended to emphasise the glutes and give an illusion of more of a "pump" than the wearer has. An evolution of the contour type shading Gymshark made commonplace.

If you see that and think "anal porn" I think that's more to do with saturation in the subject because of your line of work.

I went to a lido last weekend. There were plenty of men wandering around in shorts, some of which were quite small and tight.

Funnily enough I managed to not think about them in a sexual way or compare them to soft porn.

Have also never seen anyone in a strapless bra in the gym

Yes but are you female? There's a basic biological difference here. No point being all smug about it.

NonPlayerCharacter · 26/04/2024 20:26

The world's evils were never caused by women's clothes, they were caused by men failing to master themselves and act decently and then blaming it on either women or "biology". If you can be defeated so hopelessly by a pair of fugly trousers, you shouldn't be leaving the house.

Besides, we all know that desire isn't the problem here. It's misogyny and rage; the fury that women can elicit an internal response in a man and he has to be responsible for controlling it. It's projection and deflection.

You don’t agree with me.

You don’t agree with the screen snap in the OP.

who do you think you are saying that everyone should ignore my views? The thread police? People can read and ignore what they want, without you dictating what they have to think.

no wonder your thoughts are too inflexible to consider what the OP’s screen shot says - because in your world, people have to think what you tell them!

My partner who is male and manages to control himself when there are women wearing tight clothing or not very much clothing, because he’s a grown man who isn’t a dirty pervert.

spookehtooth · 26/04/2024 20:32

This biology defence of the view in the OP post is selective in its observations. Our biology encompasses more than sexual behaviour. It also includes our ability to socialise, which is built on identifying or agreeing socially acceptable behaviour in groups and adaptin as needed. Our biology also includes feelings of shame, embarrassment, guilt etc which help guide this process. What's really happening when that's used as a defence is a willful casting aside of all the science and biology that's inconvenient 🤷‍♂️

I'd already discounted them for saying there's no reason to sit down at a gym. Don't think they've ever seen any weights-based machines, let alone a woman in scrunch bum shorts using one.

The padding on those things is probably quite comfy, though. Ironically, it would actually stop you getting a wedgie.

I agree that poster should be ignored. Grim.

All I’ve tried to do is to explain the screen shot that OP posted.

You can think I am man, a troll, a perv, a weirdo and you’d be completely wrong. I’m just a middle aged mum.

you can disregard everything I’ve posted - I have no shits to give - but the stuff the OP posted is still what plenty of men feel and think and that has nowt to do with me.

Klwp · 26/04/2024 20:42

Kinshipug · 26/04/2024 20:17

I’ve looked back a few posts and she seems to be taking about therapy/anal sex? No I don’t do therapy or anal sex. The only people I have services off that I can think of are my window cleaner and hairdresser. So I doubt I am her client.

Do you think we didn't understand it by ourselves the first time? Why do you think we needed your explanation to understand a sexism we live with every day?

the stuff the OP posted is still what plenty of men feel and think

Did you think we didn't understand that, either?
What do you think we're objecting to?

We know a lot of men (and women) hold women responsible for their own failings. That women are morally lacking if they dress to please themselves and expect men to control themselves, whatever their internal response is.

Was this news to you?

Klwp · 26/04/2024 20:47

Yes I think you did need an explanation. You think it’s sexism when it’s a hormonal response. The man in the OP hasn’t acted on anything or done anything to anyone. He’s told the internet how the gym wear makes him feel.

I don’t give a shit how people dress.

HighHopesAndHearts · 26/04/2024 20:49
