Abhorrent comments made about a persons height

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 25/04/2024 09:30

Calling someone who is below the average height, "pint-sized" is abhorrent
at the very least. A person's height is beyond the person's control and calling them "pint-sized," some may even say it's an ableist comment

Yesterday, during the PMQ's the lead was taken by the deputy heads of both Tories and Labour. Standing in for the Labour leader was Angela Rayner. She called the Tory leader, Rishi Sunak a "pint-sized leader" when she was losing the arugument

This reminds me of clowns at work who had nicknames for other people who did not fit in with their agenda. Often people will make disparaging comments about another when they feel threatened because of their own inadequacies.
Should she apologise for making these disgusting comments?

AIBU to believe these comments were necessary, inappropriate and disgustingly abhorrent.

Angela Rayner aims ‘pint-sized loser’ jibe at Rishi Sunak during PMQs

Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden countered the criticism by mocking the Labour deputy over her housing arrangements.

“Imagine if Labour get into No 10!”

If Angela Rayner saying something like this is as bad as it can possibly get for you - the rest of us will be breathing a hearty sigh of relief.

You remind me of the fool at work that used to call our manager, behind her back, "poison dwarf." That manager was was not that short but some people don't need an excuse to be abhorrent.

😂🤣

Ever seen a political cartoon? All characteristics, physical and otherwise, are fair game.

Daz57 · 26/04/2024 22:26

I don’t think there is any evidence that Nadine Norris called Rishi Sunak a ‘pint sized loser. Body shaming is not acceptable and we should hold all our politicians to higher standards.

You really need to watch more PMQs.

Well she's not very intelligent in my opinion.
She's all ignorant and lacking interlect

”Interlect”?

I expect she can spell.

I may be wrong, but I had the impression the poster was deliberately misspelling this word to make a point.

I can't stand Angela Rayner either, despite the fact that 'I hate the Tories all right'. His size is an obvious target; I find him really bizarre to look at. He's like a crisp packet that you've shrunk in the oven. It's not just being short; his whole frame makes him look like a kind of man-child.

She did - it's in her book. AR was quoting. Keep up.

Surely abhorrent is an adjective reserved for describing rape and murder not calling someone short.

Why the "lol"???
Do you call people names like that, behind their backs?

She was quoting Nadine Dorries who said the exact same thing in her book. Starmer has been called 'the terrorists friend' at PMQs. Johnson told Ian Blackford he'd been in the biscuit tin too much. No big deal.

Yes and saying it is abhorrent must mean there is something very bad about being 5'6" or whatever he is. To me someone saying that is abhorrent is making a very negative judgement about people who aren't the height they find acceptable.

@DistinguishedSocialCommentator

Why are you completely ignoring that you have 'name called' on several of your comments on this thread?

This. One of my pet hates is the expression of disdain for people you don’t agree with by deliberately misnaming them. And @DistinguishedSocialCommentator has very happily done that.

Absolutely. Reeks of hypocrisy.

Woohow · 27/04/2024 12:27

Is mentioning someone's height always an insult, or is it only if they're short?

L1ttledrummergirl · 27/04/2024 12:32

Would you like to know what you remind me of @DistinguishedSocialCommentator

AdamRyan · 27/04/2024 12:37

My tall partner liked the idea of height being a protected characteristics. He said giraffes need protection too.

We are obviously both abhorrent people because I call him a giraffe and he calls me a short arse. Its a very abusive relationship ConfusedGrin

She only quoted the other woman as she wanted to upset the PM for reasons we already know.

Lets hope this woman is soon out of parliament otherwise many labour voters will fear her and her gang stepping into number 10 once they have ousted KS.
This is why KS is very fearful of CR

Don't be ridiculous.

If she were to win a leadership battle against KS and get into number 10 that would be no different to the situation with our last 2 PMs.

Personally I think it would be amazing to see someone like Angela Rayner as Labour's first female PM. The more sexist and classist elements of the electorate would probably self combust with outrage though.

Any response to your misnaming of Keir Starmer?

Angela Rayner as PM would be brilliant.
Much more in touch with reality than the likes of billionaires and old boy Eton lots.
I love Yvette Cooper too, she'd be another great one.

You are still ignoring the question, but I'll keep asking.

Is it only women who aren't allowed to 'name call' people, by any chance? Should they just shut up and put up? #bekind and all that?

You might be onto something there. OP doesn't like feminists. Women should all be sweet and grateful to their husbands for bringing home an income, irrespective of whether they also work. Or something.

Any word on all the things Conservative MPs have said to and about KS, AR and also Ian Blackford, OP? Or is that all just fiiiiiine?
