70s bush envy

Sparklybutold · 24/04/2024 11:34

Is it just me or does anyone else have bush envy? Yes I mean pubic hair bush. I swear I have alopecia down there. I would love a big soft bush. Apparently you can get a bush wig which I'd seriously consider.

(Dear Aston University - stick that in your pipe)

at least two of these are based on practicality rather than aesthetics.

Some people remove pubic hair because of practicality.

Yes- I didn’t say otherwise. Was just pointing out that some of the examples @Verv gave as being social conformity really aren’t.

PoppyJM · 24/04/2024 11:37

Taking care of yourself - IMO that means leaving your pubes where they intended to be so that they can perform their function.
Not traumatising the area by yanking them out or whatever.

Quite! I don’t understand the need to have a bald pubis, pubic hair serves a purpose. Stop yanking it out!

Just did that poll but... bleaching one's anus is a thing? 😨

Apparently so. Not something I've ever done or considered but I recall media coverage of this from a few years ago. Possibly more of an American thing as I don't remember anyone talking about it in UK or my home country.

That’s been around for a while. (Almost certainly influenced by porn). Personally I’m not interested in looking at anyone’s ringpiece, even if am sleeping with them. And if I was interested in anuses, I’d probably expect them to present in a range of colours, just like other areas of skin.

WillItEnde · 25/04/2024 22:04

Have a big bush and proud!

Katbum · 25/04/2024 21:43

lol. Of course. It's like how when anyone calls out the exploitation of deliveroo drivers someone pops up and pretends they are too unwell to microwave a meal and, in fact, unpaid workers are now essential services without which they would expire.

Wtf are you on about?

Disabled lesbians exist, and some of us use wheelchairs.

As I said, feel free to check it out with mumsnet- I’ve been on here 15 odd years. Or perhaps you would like a picture of me in my wheelchair? A copy of my marriage certificate? My latest PIP award letter?! 🤦‍♀️

Im not exploiting any low paid deliveroo drivers by removing the hair from my labia.

Nope I think it’s vile, just my opinion but I personally like to be hair free, that goes for my DH as well, no one wants a mouth full of pubes 🤢

Nope - going down on a woman is great regardless of her approach to pruning. Hair really doesn't get in the way, I promise! As long as it's clean it's no different either way.

Jaggy1 · 25/04/2024 22:24

An astounding amount of ‘you should leave it in place’ and ‘it should be removed’,
all you ‘should’ do is appreciate that you can do what you like and other people can too. No one needs to see any one else’s pubic area to be offended by their choices. Have an opinion and an interesting discussion but don’t judge people for their choice either way and everyone would get on a lot better 🤷🏼‍♀️

Indeed.

No one needs to see any one else’s pubic area to be offended by their choices.

Keep your nose out of other people’s crotches and whether they are hairy or not need never be an issue for you.

Idontcareboutthestateofmyhair · 25/04/2024 22:48

Every time I've tried to remove any pubic hair I'm in mortal agony. I do trim but removing it is so not on I think personally. I'm not even sure why I tried to, peer pressure? Find it a bit creepy tbh if guys like it hairless.. my partner thinks I was mad when I tried to remove it lol..
Considering (depends on your age here lol, I'm 50) we spent so long waiting and watching for our first pube so we could be grown up, to then shave them off to look like a wee girl is kinda mad and disturbing when you think about it!
P.S I've also seen female pals while getting changed with no pubes and it gives me the boke! Ok, I'm a straight woman and shouldn't find either way fanciable lol but it's just off

Verv · 25/04/2024 23:06

Waitingfordoggo · 25/04/2024 21:09

@Verv I agree that we all conform one way or another. I only shave my legs because I know that a lot of people (like many on this thread) would consider me ‘grim’ if I did not. I would much rather not shave but alas it is not acceptable for me to make that decision about my own body.

However,

We cut the hair on our heads, we put crowns and fillings in our teeth, we replace teeth with fakes when they fall out, we cut our fingernails, we deodorise

at least two of these are based on practicality rather than aesthetics. Long nails are unhygienic and impractical. Teeth with cavities in can be extremely painful. Missing teeth can cause problems with speech and eating.

Edited

i don’t shave my legs so I think you’d probably feel much better if you stuck two fingers up at those who would say that you’re grim and did what was most comfortable for you.

Many women have long nails, so I don’t think practicality dictates that they need to be short.

And yes, teeth with cavities can be very painful, and become infected, and kill us without treatment - which it does in many parts of the world where people are impoverished enough to genuinely be this “all natural” that we’re advised to aspire to in the first world. 😉

lovinglaughingliving · 25/04/2024 23:15

I feel like if I leave the hair there it gets matted/pulls a lot plus when I trim (using shaver) I always cut myself.
So Hollywood wax every 6 weeks for me, also have my eyebrows and upper lip done. Everything else gets shaven!

Mamanyt · 25/04/2024 23:16

That's so highly subjective. Either is fine, in my book, for others. I don't shave. I did, back before waxing was a thing, and got THREE ingrown hairs. HORRIBLE, and never again. Now, I've known a man or two who said, "I won't do this, that or the other if you don't get rid of the hair." My response was, "I won't do this, that or the other, or the main event, for that matter, if you force this issue." The hair remained, and this, that and the other were done.

Ofcourseshecan · 25/04/2024 23:31

TerriPie · 25/04/2024 00:50

Anyone else suspect this thread has been infiltrated by men for wanking material as I'm pretty sure none of us ladies remove hair from our "vagina".

…unless something has gone horribly wrong …

ClairDeLaLune · 25/04/2024 23:31

When I was pregnant with DS mine grew really long. I just left it to see how long it would go. I did consider arranging it in an attractive plait. When the midwife examined me during labour she said “ooh it feels like the baby’s got some hair”. Nope, totally bald! That wasn’t the baby’s hair she’d got hold of 😂

When I was pregnant with DD this didn’t happen at all. I read afterwards it’s something to do with make hormones apparently.

Some women do seem to manage perfectly well with long nails but I don’t think it could be argued that they are as practical or hygienic as short nails. Sometimes my MIL has to be assisted with tasks involving fine motor skills due to her very long nails.

And yes, infections in tooth cavities could lead to death. Untrimmed bushes, not so much 😂

It would be good to be that person but I’m just not, and never will be that person. I don’t want people to think I’m grim. 🤷🏼‍♀️

CaraMiaMonCher · 24/04/2024 12:04

Look, I completely agree that having a completely shaven fanjo as an adult woman is grim, but can you elaborated on what gynae issues it is causing? And is there any evidence base for this? Or is it just some anecdotal reference to HCP’s judging that those with bald bits are more likely to be putting it about?

I've said this before on here. I had to have an emergency op to remove an ulcerated cyst. Whilst there the consultant said they had seen a real increase in women having ulcers drsined from the pubic region due to the current trend for waxing and shaving. Got chatting to the lady in the next bed and lo and behold she was having exactly that issue. In grown hair can turn very very nasty

Retired65 · 26/04/2024 09:56

My ex boyfriend liked my bush. I find it strange that some ladies shave it off.

You are the creep here and a bit lacking in any sort of critical thinking. A female adult woman, hairless or not, will never look like a 'wee girl', whatever she does.

Please stop with your stupidity and judgement of your pals and other women based on their pubic hair or lack thereof.

BobbyBiscuits · 26/04/2024 10:01

I wish the bush was back in fashion! I prefer the feeling of hair free but hate the effort and sometimes pain of maintaining it. I don't really know as I'm older, but I'm sure that men in their 20s and 30s might never even have seen one in real life!? Such a shame. I want a heart shaped one dyed pink. Lol.
