70s bush envy

Is it just me or does anyone else have bush envy? Yes I mean pubic hair bush. I swear I have alopecia down there. I would love a big soft bush. Apparently you can get a bush wig which I'd seriously consider.

(Dear Aston University - stick that in your pipe)

I used to shave which I preferred but there was the issue of ingrown hair, also now I have dc I just don't feel like I care or have the time to do it.
Every couple months I get my steel nail scissors and just give it a trim on the loo.. I've cut myself a couple times doing it though so have to be bloody careful. Blush

To whoever said having a bush isn't hygienic do you bathe? Kindly sod off. Flowers

CleftChin · 24/04/2024 19:53

Personally, I think shaved anything feels sweaty and slimy - vulva/pubis, chest, armpits, face - I prefer a bit of texture (face stubble at the soft length, not a full beard though, although the rest un-trimmed as it is too spiky otherwise. A spiky chest is almost worse than a smooth one).

Actually I'll revise that, pulling a pair of trousers on after a fresh leg shave is great (next day, with stubble not so much), and just removing the hair on the bottom half of my vulva leaves some lovely velvety soft skin (trimming gets spiky).

Armpits are definitely better hairy - mine are so soft and strokable, like little hamsters!

Discussions with colleagues at work (yes, work is weird) suggests that most men at the moment prefer fully bald, and frankly, I'm not prepared to do that just to get a bloke. I'll stick single thanks rather than cause myself that much discomfort/hassle

Of course I bathe! I shower every day. But you don't bathe after every wee/poo/pad change, do you? I don't have pubes near my bumhole and I haven't got so much that pee or blood gets on them. What about those people who do, surely it gets on the hair and wouldn't be washed off until the next shower? That's not hygienic at all to be walking around like that.

Like I said, I honestly didn't realise that some women had that much pubic hair, mostly because I don't make a habit of looking at other women's genitalia.

I really, really dislike the feel of completely smooth skin. A poster upthread mentioned dolphins and I have often likened freshly shaved legs to dolphin skin (which is one of the reasons I very rarely shave my legs- only if strangers are going to see them basically). It sets my teeth on edge. Others upthread have talked about sensory aversions and this is mine.

I never understood why people would say it was unclean to have full pubes either until I saw those naked Madonna pictures from the 70s. Mine are nothing like that and I genuinely had no idea that some people had that much hair, it went right up to her bum for goodness sake! Surely that would be a hygiene issue with periods and poo etc and should be trimmed or shaved.

I don't shave because I don't have that much that I need to but people with that much hair should probably do something about it.

There is absolutely no ‘should’ about any of this. Yes, the more hirsute among us have a lot of hair in the whole area. Beauty therapists who do intimate waxing are very used to waxing the area near the bumhole as well as the labia. It is not uncommon to have hair that goes all the way under, as far as I understand.

None of that is your concern. You need to trust that people know how to keep themselves clean. (Or perhaps you think men should all keep their bum cracks hair free too?)

Oh god I hate these threads as much as the ones about make up, lip fillers and Botox.
WHO CARES what other women do with their public hair. I literally couldn’t give a shit what other women do. Just another thread for a certain group of mumsnetters to be bitchy and judgmental.

The “it’s not a vagina, it’s a vulva” comment is also becoming extremely tedious. Everyone calls it a vagina in real life 🙄

The vulva army are awakened every time someone calls their general fanny region their vagina, and over they march to chastise and tut.

The ancient Egyptians did a lot of rather questionable things- we shouldn’t be just blindly follow unconsciously! It was a patriarchal society and women had very little influence.

I hope we are somewhat raising the bar by now.

First of all its a new trend. Then when it’s clearly not a new trend we shouldn’t follow the Egyptians or the Romans or the Greeks or the Silent Generation or anybody in history who has ever trimmed a pube.
We must only blindly follow those who insist that women who go sans bush are porn addled soft-brains in denial of their slavery to the patriarchy.

Cool.

Well yes, if those men have got so much hair they get poo stuck to it, obviously they should.

lorrely · 24/04/2024 20:11

I have a bush. I used to trim it and then postpartum it just became full bush. My husband admitted that he loved it and that he'd love it if I kept it and so I did. It's so easy! Sometimes I think about trimming it though and making it just a bit neater.

LordPercyPercy · 24/04/2024 20:12

Many cultures do wash after every poo. I certainly do. Not doing so is something I personally find unhygienic.

Also what about men? Many of them have extremely hairy arsecracks, do you have similar concerns about their hygiene?

Also I just looked up the Madonna pictures and she just looks normal? She had Italian ancestry.
Most Mediterranean/Middle Eastern woman are quite full on the pube front, your whole eww gross thing is quite insulting.

‘Obviously’? Don’t be ridiculous. Other people’s body hair and personal hygiene practices are absolutely none of your business.

Hang on.
IS THIS BUSH INFLUENCED BY PATRIARCHY? 😂

LittleBooThang · 24/04/2024 11:35

Nope. It’s just grim. Taking care of yourself is important.

How about the hair on your head, is that grim?

LordPercyPercy · 24/04/2024 20:16

Well yes, if those men have got so much hair they get poo stuck to it, obviously they should.

Or they could, you know, just wash their arseholes?

Smearing a tissue around after you poo isn't hygienic whether you had hair or not. That's why we get made fun of go not using bidets.

Even less so if you've got a forest growing down there, which is the whole point.

CleftChin · 24/04/2024 20:20

I do prefer a squirty doodad to wash properly after the toilet.

However, having a squirty wash in Malaysia or Southern Italy is a rather different experience to doing it in Scotland. I also prefer being able to feel my nether regions after, rather than freeze them off half the year!

And I'm not going to bugger about waiting for hot water to come through and adjust the balance frankly. I have other things to be doing.

LordPercyPercy · 24/04/2024 20:21

No-one has hair growing out of their actual anus anyway. If you're smearing the poo far and wide, there's something amiss with your toilet habits.

Which is the entire point I was trying to make. It's not normal to me, mine are nothing like that. I had no idea that some women had so much hair until I saw those pictures, which is why I could never understand why people said it was unhygenic to have hair.

Like I said, I don't make a habit of looking at other women's nether regions, I only had my own to compare it to.

CleftChin · 24/04/2024 20:22

AND frankly, I'm not going to take hygiene tips from the half of the population who consider giving their penis a shake to be sufficient cleaning after a wee!

To be fair @RobBeckettsGiantTeeth has a point. I always give my ringpiece a good scrubbing after I've 'shedded a few pounds' so to speak, leaving my rusty sherriff's badge lemon fresh.

You could eat your dinner off my ring, it's always daisy fresh, even if I do have a hairy Mary.

Waitingfordoggo · 24/04/2024 20:25

@DagenhamDanny, I also wash my arse after a poo. Whether or not I have a lot of hair near that area is completely irrelevant as I will wash it either way 🤷🏼‍♀️
