70s bush envy

Sparklybutold · 24/04/2024 11:34

Is it just me or does anyone else have bush envy? Yes I mean pubic hair bush. I swear I have alopecia down there. I would love a big soft bush. Apparently you can get a bush wig which I'd seriously consider.

(Dear Aston University - stick that in your pipe)

I always think hairless groins look even more naked and a little ugly. A good bush is like a natural fig leaf. I always had quite large labia that dangled a bit, without the bush I would have been quite self conscious about them.
Fortunately like the thinning bush, as you age the labia shrink as well. In fact my nether regions are looking more and more prepubescent with every passing year.
Maybe if old women were more open about what happens and that you lose everything post menopause the younger generation would be less inclined to remove it all. Rather than saying a naked groin looks prepubescent, perhaps likening to an 80 yr old would be sufficient deterrent.

DH is rather sad that I’m thinning out drastically. Although he’s delighted that I no longer pinch his razor to do my pits.

@Polishedshoesalways no 99% of adult females do not have full bushes. How would you even know that?

An adult vagina is an adult vagina, hairless or otherwise.

They have hair - naturally!!!!!

crostini · 24/04/2024 19:12

@Pingtotheeastwoodly but you knew what I meant didn't you Hmm

The bast majority of women use vagina to refer to the whole shebang so no need to be anal about it Wink

Most of the women I know use the words ‘vulva’, ‘labia’ and ‘vagina’ as appropriate (or some rather more coarse equivalents 😂) I honesty don’t think the majority of women use ‘vagina’ to mean the whole area.
But if you’re right, I find that depressing.

Would you at least differentiate if you were trying to explain a problem to a Dr?

crostini · 24/04/2024 19:20

@Polishedshoesalways

Ah i see what you mean.

But women don't shave their vagina to resemble a child. Just like they don't shave their armpits in order to look like a child.

DagenhamDanny · 24/04/2024 19:20

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 24/04/2024 18:37

But you are absorbing culture. Because no one did it 25 years ago, as getting rid of pubes didn’t exist.

Its a new culture which you’ve absorbed.

I love listening to my 17 year old telling me that no woman should feel the need to shave as it’s a feminist issue.

I agree that it is.

That's simply not true. My girlfriend at the time, and before, always kept herself clean shaven down there.

BashfulClam · 24/04/2024 19:20

You can have some of mine for a Merkin. Mine grows at an insane rate. I keep it
neatly trimmed but don’t remove it as it is mean to be there and has a purpose.

Caerulea · 24/04/2024 19:21

Polishedshoesalways · 24/04/2024 19:11

Why does it make you uncomfortable?

99% of fully developed women have natural hair - children do not - of course the comparison will be made.

Ppl get hella uncomfy when you point this out huh? It's not saying that's WHY men like it or WHY women do it (it's porn, we all know it's porn) but the fact is, only children & the very elderly are hairless 🤷🏼‍♀️

Really old people Don’t have hair either majority. Do they look like children.. or do they look like old people with no pubes 🥱

tagged the wrong comment 😂😂 my apologies

@Waitingfordoggo

Very strange thing to find depressing.
I find it depressing that women get so hung up on other peoples pubic hair. There are far greater issues that we face as women and this still gets peddled as a fucking feminist issue. It's patronising, petty, and actually quite snobbish.

EmilyTjP · 24/04/2024 19:23

Oh god I hate these threads as much as the ones about make up, lip fillers and Botox.
WHO CARES what other women do with their public hair. I literally couldn’t give a shit what other women do. Just another thread for a certain group of mumsnetters to be bitchy and judgmental.

The “it’s not a vagina, it’s a vulva” comment is also becoming extremely tedious. Everyone calls it a vagina in real life 🙄

I do think it’s important that women know the correct terms for their genitals, yes. It’s not the most pressing feminist issue sure, but it is important enough for me to have made sure my DD knows.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 24/04/2024 19:25

Still got mine (although not quite 70’s)! No pubic hair is too like a prepubescent child’s body to me.

Efrogwraig · 24/04/2024 19:27

Used to have a fine bush before cancer & radiotherapy. I miss it.

I'm disappointed no-one has mentioned Shepherd's bush. Magnificent thing.

This ! 💯

''The “it’s not a vagina, it’s a vulva” comment is also becoming extremely tedious. Everyone calls it a vagina in real life 🙄''

People only call the external genitalia of a female 'a vagina' if they are clueless about basic anatomy.

Men wouldn't be as likely to mis-label their own genitalia.

DipOnion · 24/04/2024 19:38

I dont understand the anger at going hair free. Men also do it! It is better for sex imo, I wouldn't like a man to have a full rug of pubes either.

100% this. Bonkers that grown women talk of shaving their vagina! 😂

KreedKafer · 24/04/2024 11:44

Hygiene-wise, it makes no difference. It's no more unhygienic than having hair on your head.

I never understood why people would say it was unclean to have full pubes either until I saw those naked Madonna pictures from the 70s. Mine are nothing like that and I genuinely had no idea that some people had that much hair, it went right up to her bum for goodness sake! Surely that would be a hygiene issue with periods and poo etc and should be trimmed or shaved.

I don't shave because I don't have that much that I need to but people with that much hair should probably do something about it.

fungipie · 24/04/2024 19:40

I am older than most here, wear jeans constantly and have an under-active thyroid. So not well furnished anymore. That's fine by me.

Professionalmess · 24/04/2024 19:45

@Sparklybutold as for the same sex thing. As a woman who likes women, I prefer there to be something there for myself and for them. Partly because of what another poster said of it looking prepubescent without. Shave it short or have it long enough to plait. Just not bald and pink.

Of course I don't speak for all lesbian and bi women. And when I've had my (usually straight) friends ask, they're shocked. But I tell them I like to keep my nose warm. 🤣

What about other religions and cultures as islam
, they have been removing pubic hair for centuries

I agree, someone actually called me sad above for saying I love it when describing my epilator hahahaha. Apparently it's less embarrassing to be so judgemental and bitchy than it is to have public hair these days. Always the same women who have a judgement on everything and look down on people who wear makeup as having muck on their face, botox is a hideous waste of money and total vanity and we should all just be the exact same abd have no pleasure in grooming or you're accused of finding certain habits appealing to your personal preference of being a total porn star aspiring anti feminist tragedy😂

crostini · 24/04/2024 19:48

Not clueless about my own anatomy - it's just colloquial speech.

And as for men not 'mislabeling' their genitalia... really? I don't see men talking about their glans, penile shaft and scrotum... no they call it their knob.
