For years now police have been happy to just let most disorder go at protests and prosecute people later. The one thing they won't stand for is fighting the police. They don't stand for it from anyone. The "active" RW lot, who are largely made up of footie hooligans, love fighting the police. This is why it looks like their protests get policed harder

But this isn’t due to someone’s skin colour so I’m not sure why people are mentioning it. It’s because of patriarchal ideas and religious oppression of women in those countries. The previous poster quoted a whole section about Muslim men when she had original said it’s black/brown men who commit far too much sexual violence. What she actually meant was Muslims which is a religion and not an ethnicity.

It definitely wasn't small numbers but I'm glad we agree on the violent thugs part.

I'm just providing data in support of my first point on this thread that it's a complex matter and xenophobia doesn't just happen in a vacuum, even if these movements no doubt do attract troublemakers and those just looking for a fight.

Hirsi-Ali (who lived in the Netherlands) mentions that only 55% of the immigrants arriving in the 90s were working 15 years later, despite the Dutch government spending upwards of 16 billion euros on integration programs.

Statistics like this are not going to endear them to the working class nationals in times of austerity and predictably it's this working class demographic that seems to be the most resistant to immigration.

Then when we add mass sexual assaults of thousands of women in one evening and a swathe of smaller but similar events coupled with the police and the left actively downplaying it, it's not particularly hard to see why some feel they should 'take matters into their own hands'.
