@AmaryllisChorus every year I mean to make elderflower fritters and every year I forget! What's the recipe you're using please?

I cut them and soaked them in salt water to get rid of any bugs. Rinsed and dried thoroughly, then made a really simple thin batter of cornflour and water, dusted in dry cornflour then fried in corn oil. I wanted them for savoury garnish, but you could add a splash of vanilla essence or orange flower water and icing sugar to the batter to make them sweet. Or trad egg batter if you want them more substantial. Mine were very crunchy. Next time I might try an egg batter.

BouleDeSuif · 30/05/2024 12:16

Yesterday was an omelette with walnuts and peas
Lunch was a picnic (fruit scone, cucumber, celery, corned beef and an ice cream)
Dinner was battered sausage chips and mushy peas.

Today:
Breakfast one and a half fruit scone with apple jelly (child claimed the other half)
Lunch is going to be cucumber, celery, walnuts, apple, kidney bean salad, bit of corned beef and a scone (I made a lot of scones)
Dinner. Who knows. It might be jacket potato and tuna.

BobbyBiscuits · 30/05/2024 20:20

@SittingontheSidelines I absolutely love coleslaw! I love a crusty round roll stuffed with homemade slaw. Or with a jacket potato, cheese and crispy bacon! Or with chips, crinkly ones?! 🤤🤤

Today I made a great discovery. I ordered a McDonald's sausage and egg muffin, minus the cheese.
Decided to add a bit of grated parmesan in lieu of the plastic stuff. Omg it was amazing!
I sound like a right Waitrose wanker, but honestly it works.
Also 2 hash browns

2 teas 2 sugs
1coffee with sf monin syrup

Dinner is Thai spicy prawn curry/soup with steamed rice. It's sooo hot, there's chopped chillis, whole chillis, dried chillis!🌶️
I can only eat one bite every 5 minutes, lol.
Loads of cucumber

3 glasses white wine

@BobbyBiscuits thank-you! the breakfast roll was a 'must have protein' after an early morning weights session; chicken thigh was leftovers from the Ottolenghi sumac baked chicken recipe (so good); and dinner was a fortuitous meal out with a friend :)

BobbyBiscuits · 31/05/2024 11:18

@neonyellowskirt ottolenghi! I love his recipes but always can't find half the ingredients, lol.
I've never done a weights session but I'm gonna reach for the sausage and egg muffin again. I've no excuse! Lifting a pint glass maybe? 🤣
