Well yeah, I'm just baffled as to why seeing the outline of someone's arse is any different to seeing the outline of someone's breasts.

I don't get what you're saying. People can have opinions on others fashion choices whether that be scrunch bum leggings, over the top cleavage, skinny jeans, boots with the fur, whatever. And women talking about women's fashion trends is not misogyny.

LemonLimePies · 21/04/2024 12:28

Woman at kids soft play yesterday had some long flesh coloured ones on with a crop top. It didn't seem like the most appropriate clothing for a kids soft play centre. She did have a nice bum at least.

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 21/04/2024 10:37

I think the scrunch bum legging came into fashion in line with the BBL. They give definition and 'cheat' a bigger, higher, firmer bum. It's just fashion.

As for men not having fashion that exposes them in similar ways, I'm guessing some of you have never seen the dreaded grey jogging bottoms? Nothing is left to the imagination in those things.

I always wonder why women feel they're expected to wear skimpy bikinis, and then men wear long baggy shorts to swim. Then again, don't suppose we want to see them all in speed os.

raspberryberet7 · 21/04/2024 12:42

That's all anyone seems to wear where I live regardless of whether they exercise or not

SerenChocolateMuncher · 21/04/2024 12:43

We were on holiday on Anglesey at Easter and saw a lot of young (and some not so young) women wearing the leggings version of these things. In the street. In public! 😱

They are absolutely hideous, especially the flesh coloured ones most of them seem to favour. They look like they've got bare bums. Absolutely none of them looked nice.

When I was a young woman, we would feel mortified if our trousers or shorts revealed even the slightest trace of a "camel's toe" or cellulite. Today's young women are happy to show-off a bare bum, complete with crack, bum hole and everything.

They are surely the most unflattering item of clothing I've seen for a long time. Even the slim young girls looked horrible in them.

The chunkier girls looked unbelieveably awful with lumps of cellulite showing through the thin material. I can't understand how they can look at each other and not realise what a ghastly fashion mistake these things are.

I wear these shorts and leggings for the gym. I would say 90% of the females in my gym also wear them. Just a standard JD gym. I occasionally train at 2 body builder gyms, a pure gym and even a Bannatyne gym and have seen these shorts in all of those gyms. They are very popular.

I think you may be being disingenuous to say you have never seen them unless you don’t actually go to the gym?

I go to the gym three times a week (occasionally 4) and do a park workout once a week. I’ve not seen anyone wear them in the gym or exercising. Maybe it’s a regional things?

‘faux shock’ and outrage from old, MC women then?

Heaven forbid anyone has an opinion. It’s not like women are going about like the Taliban beating them around the heads and telling them to go home and cover up.

It’s a fashion trend - may have come from gyms although I’ve not seen anyone wear them in the gym - that looks uncomfortable and ‘bubble but’ fashion.

I didn’t say old. I said middle aged. And you know as well as I do that the outrage isn’t about them looking uncomfortable. Don’t be disingenuous.

I’ve seen them plenty in the gym. I’ve seen plenty of other things that I personally wouldn’t wear. But what others wear is none of my business at all.

Hayliebells · 21/04/2024 13:40

I was searching for some new gym leggings yesterday and came across a brand that gets great reviews but only seem to do scrunch bum leggings. I don't understand them, they seem overly sexualised. I don't particularly want men to ogle my bum when I'm working out, but this style seems like it's designed for this purpose. When men wear loose fitting clothes to the gym and then women wear this, it seems like a step backwards. I mean I know women's and men's gym wear has always been different, but where's the progress away from misogyny? I know the women who wear this style will say they don't wear them so people will look at their bum, but if they don't, what's the appeal? Why choose those over normal leggings?

Brawcolli · 21/04/2024 13:52

Starlightshine · 20/04/2024 18:21

I’m sorry you are delusional. They look utterly, utterly hideous. But maybe it’s not a middle class mum you are trying to impress?

I don’t thunk anyone wants to impress a middle class mum 😆

I didn't say anything about misogyny.

SallyWD · 21/04/2024 14:41

I've seen loads of teenage girls walking around the shops in them where I live!

Kpo58 · 21/04/2024 14:52

The worst shorts that I've seen actually have half the bare bum cheeks on show. All I think is eww hygiene. I wouldn't want to sit where they have been sitting.

Agreed! Do the young women of today want to attract men that like them for what they look like or what they say? What I hate about these leggings is that they look sleazy and will only attract sleazy guys. I thought young women thought better of themselves these days. I must be massively out of touch though.

MidnightMeltdown · 21/04/2024 15:04

OMG I've never seen those before!

Sorry, but if I saw someone wearing them I would probably point and laugh 🤣

HoneyButterPopcorn · 21/04/2024 15:17

I just think the look uncomfortable. And rather ‘revealing’ from the front.

but hey, they aren’t aimed at people like me.

Poshjock · 21/04/2024 15:21

I was at an event yesterday and they were the main choice of clothing for most girls and women. Particularly 12-30 age group. It was not a fitness related event btw. It wasn’t particularly warm out either.

The cheap version is to gather the waistband of the shorts or leggings at the small of the back and secure with a hair band to get the effect. Saw hundreds of these yesterday.

AliciaCared · 21/04/2024 16:02

That anxiety dream, where you are in public naked or missing clothing; this would be the real life equivalent for me. Living the nightmare. 👀

No "faux outrage" from me. They are a very ugly piece of clothing. As for it being "none of my business" , it's not your business either to tell anyone they aren't entitled to have an opinion.

Oh and the "it's none of my business" is a bit naive given anyone choosing such an eye-catching garment almost certainly intends it to be noticed- so it kind of is the business of everyone whose eye is caught.

BitOutOfPractice · 21/04/2024 16:56

Ok @IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle give me the “none of your business either” schtik back at me. But when you post your “opinions” on a public forum, surely that argument is moot. But yeah, you keep judging away, I’ll keep minding my own business and wearing whatever the fuck I like 🤷‍♀️

You appear to like telling people what is or isn't "their business but appear to have difficulty with anyone having a different opinion from you.

Has anyone told you, or anyone else what to wear or not wear? I don't think so. That would be out of order. You or anyone else can carry on wearing the ugly attention grabbing shorts. And anyone else is free to think "blimey that's an ugly piece of clothing" - without your permission

Brrrrrrrrrritscold · 21/04/2024 17:16

I wear the shorts and the leggings. They are super comfortable for squatting etc. I’m 51 with a great arse, and couldn’t give a fuck about the judgement of others.
I’m growing old disgracefully.

You like, that other poster, seem to confusing "judging you" with having an opinion that a piece of clothing is extremely ugly.

Of course no one should say that to your face but unfortunately you , general you, can't control people's thoughts.

Much clothing is chosen for the effect it has/ to express something about the person, either consciously or just by the way the clothes; even the most ardent " I only dress to please myself" claimants are deluding themselves.

alltoomuchrightnow · 21/04/2024 17:39

I work in retail and spend a lot of time sitting on the floor / kneeling... sorting out stocks and shelves etc. I often look up and find my face almost in a scrunch butt... or even worse , a scrunch front... (crowded shop, not because I want to get close!!)

crumblingschools · 21/04/2024 17:47

Do these shorts act as a built in cushion if you sit down in them?

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 21/04/2024 17:52

I’m waiting for an updated version with a built-in fake camel toe.
