I agree!

all the faux shock that a young woman might be happy to show off her shapely arse. Go for it I say.

my arse is far more modest as its old and wobbly But if I had an arse I was proud of, I’d give these a go. And all the outrage from middle aged middle class women who probably wore hot pants and crop tops in their youth would only make them more appealing.

‘faux shock’ and outrage from old, MC women then?

Heaven forbid anyone has an opinion. It’s not like women are going about like the Taliban beating them around the heads and telling them to go home and cover up.

It’s a fashion trend - may have come from gyms although I’ve not seen anyone wear them in the gym - that looks uncomfortable and ‘bubble but’ fashion.

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 21/04/2024 10:37

I think the scrunch bum legging came into fashion in line with the BBL. They give definition and 'cheat' a bigger, higher, firmer bum. It's just fashion.

As for men not having fashion that exposes them in similar ways, I'm guessing some of you have never seen the dreaded grey jogging bottoms? Nothing is left to the imagination in those things.

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 21/04/2024 10:41

Having strong glutes (not the same as a fat arse) is really important for everyday life, preventing injury and protecting yourself through ageing. They help stabilise the pelvis, provide propulsion to movement, provide stability, improve posture.

They’re the biggest muscles in the body and often become weak and shortened through our sedentary lives and lack of use.

Strong glutes, quads, legs in general take the strain off joints as the muscles are doing the work. Strong quads protect the knees.

Men don't wear this shit. Some women just like to go around showing everything off for some reason. Same on nights out, everything hanging out. No self respect.

Self respect doesn't have anything to do with how one chooses to dress.

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 21/04/2024 11:03

Who needs misogyny from men when there’s so much coming from women as evidenced on this thread. Difficult to believe that it’s 2024 and not 1954 and the judgement from women towards women just keeps rolling along.

crumblingschools · 21/04/2024 11:09

@PortiaWithNoBreaks but many of the posters here, including me, would comment on fashion that show off men’s arses/genitalia in the same way these clothes do.

As I said in another post if the look of the male ballet dancer became a look on the school run or a night out it would be commented on here in spades. But funnily enough that look isn’t marketed in the same way bottom hugging/accentuating clothing for women are. I wonder why.

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 21/04/2024 11:13

@crumblingschools why do you think I was referring to you?

There have been a few comments that could qualify misogyny but the idea that daring to talk about an item of women's clothing/a trend is misogyny is laughable and best ignored.

People on will claim that not liking trainers and dresses is misogyny because it's commenting on women - grips, take one.

Tbf, the idea that an item of clothing that literally accentuates each individual buttock would not receive any kind of comment is so ludicrous. I'm kind of ambivalent, but when you think about it, that's kind of crazy that this has become standard school run attire

Why is it any different to showing cleavage though?

xSideshowAuntSallyx · 21/04/2024 11:19

I see them all the time in the gym, part of me wonders why you'd want to constantly have a wedgie though!

needsomewarmsunshine · 21/04/2024 11:21

A woman got on my bus wearing a nude version of these, looked bloody awful, such an ugly look even on young, slim women.

crumblingschools · 21/04/2024 11:22

@Beezknees maybe the question should be why women are encouraged to show cleavage/buttock cheeks

AlohaOptima · 21/04/2024 11:23

I wear these shorts and leggings for the gym. I would say 90% of the females in my gym also wear them. Just a standard JD gym. I occasionally train at 2 body builder gyms, a pure gym and even a Bannatyne gym and have seen these shorts in all of those gyms. They are very popular.

I think you may be being disingenuous to say you have never seen them unless you don’t actually go to the gym?

tennesseewhiskey1 · 21/04/2024 11:29

You clearly haven’t seen my sister 😂😂😂

MyBigBounty · 21/04/2024 11:37

People can have a opinions about in-your-face cleavage if they want, I don't care. I go brakes at times, and when I do wear a bra, never padded. I'm sure some people have opinions - oh well.

Cleavage refer to an actual body part not an item of clothing, however.

Tontostitis · 21/04/2024 11:42

2 women at fat club in them last week (and one in her nightie!) I felt a bit Joan Collinsy pearl clutching tbh but each to their own

It's 2024 and we are talking about woman having no self respect still?
You've never seen a bloke wandering about topless with his arse crack out?
Clothing doesn't equal self respect

crumblingschools · 21/04/2024 11:55

@pelotonaddiction if I saw a topless bloke with his arse crack out zi would think that was pretty grim too

Redpaisely · 21/04/2024 11:59

BloodandGlitter · 20/04/2024 21:02

Nothing like women to tear other women apart. Bad as men thinking women need to dress how it pleases you.

Are women supposed to be a cult never having opinions as individuals? I don't understand women tearing women as bad as men. The women who wear exaggerated bum leggings are not doing to support any woman cause. It is a trend and some other women do not like it and discussing it, not tearing any one apart.

Sadly, women wear far more sexualised clothes than men. Some of the swim wear women wear is barely nothing, men on the other hand wear for comfort. And before you say, these are not sexualised, would you wear an exaggerated tummy dress?

Yeah I was replying to men don't wear this shit

I don't see short skirts/cleavage/leggings as everything hanging out

Well yeah, I'm just baffled as to why seeing the outline of someone's arse is any different to seeing the outline of someone's breasts.

crumblingschools · 21/04/2024 11:22

It's a sexual signal.
Women's clothing is sexual and for the male gaze. It's a tricky path for most girls and women.

SusieLawson · 21/04/2024 12:24

I have some white ones to wear with a short white dress, if the wind blows up my dress. I thought they're called safety shorts?
Also, don't Snag sell them as chubrubs, for the anti chafing effect?

Redpaisely · 21/04/2024 12:24

Sugarfish · 20/04/2024 22:50

I honestly wish I had the confidence to wear something that highlighted my arse like this.

What’s so bad about showing off a part of your body that you like? Aren’t we supposed to be encouraging body positivity? Or does that only apply if you’re obese? And why does a woman wearing these mean she’s giving into social pressure? She might just like the look.

Also everything is covered by material. It’s not like anyone has their bare cheeks or hole on display.

Showing off to whom? Other women or men?

Maybe because poo comes out of it.
