To think my friend shouldn't have eaten my burger?

Out for dinner a couple of nights ago.

Me and DP, friend and her BF, and another friend.

All paying for our own food.

I ordered a burger but didn't finish it all, so offered it to DP. He said Yes please, but let me finish mine first.

Immediately after that, friend said 'Oh could I try a bite first?' - she ate about half of what was left, then proceeded to offer it to her DP, and when he said no, our friend.

AIBU to think this was fucking weird? Me and DP were both a bit like, Erm, wtf to say something at the time!

Sometimes I feel like people on mumsnet do not really like their friends? It must be lonely.

Do you normally have a sandwich snatched from your plate and bites taken from it by several people when you had already offered it to someone else who accepted it......Jesus some people must have odd eating habits

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/04/2024 12:47

How big was this burger

You ate half.

Dp Was going to have it after his

Friend ate half of a half so
A quarter

And then offered to her dp and friend

Why didn't your dh say hands off that's mine

Not sure I'd want it after someone else had even picked it up do you eat food other people put their dirty hands on?

Moonshine5 · 17/04/2024 18:28

I've never heard anyone be controlling over a burger 😂

Bournetilly · 17/04/2024 18:29

Maybe she thought your DP said no which is why she offered it to everyone else apart from your DP. If that’s the case then I think it’s fine. If not then it was really weird.

LordSnot · 17/04/2024 18:30

This story is weird on so many levels. Are you all seagulls?

PrincessOfPreschool · 17/04/2024 18:30

YABU not to have eaten the burger.

StampOnTheGround · 17/04/2024 18:31

No problem at all, we have a friend who often doesn't finish her food and anyone just grabs it 😂

HotChocolateNotCocoa · 17/04/2024 18:24

Because you don't normally go around snogging your friends?

No, but unless you’ve lived a very sheltered life, you’ve probably had the odd late night game of tonsil tennis before you got married.

If you're determined to make this into a kissing analogy then the equivalent of this is if OP's DH leant over and snogged their friend...

There's something about blatantly sharing DNA outside of your relationship/family that is pretty grim, to me anyway.

SnowyPetals · 17/04/2024 18:34

Meh, nobody needs more than one burger. I'd have probably just asked if anyone wanted it rather than offering to anyone specific.

Xmasbaby11 · 17/04/2024 18:35

I mean yes it's rude, but I'm not sure it's worth getting upset about. Next time don't offer it round /agree to let her have some - or cut a bit off for her.

StedeBonnet · 17/04/2024 18:41

It wasn't snatched off her plate, her friend asked if she could have some and she said yes. I mean I my friend literally snatched food off my plate and ate some and offered it round I'd think it was a bit weird (but wouldn't get worked up about it.) But this didn't happen!

StedeBonnet · 17/04/2024 18:42

Sorry tried to quote and didn't work!

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/04/2024 18:45

What burger was it

Beef

Chicken

Squeaky cheese

Veggie

CandyPlus · 17/04/2024 18:48

That’s weird for a friend to want to eat a burger that’s been in your mouth 🤢

This. A lot of people on here remind me of my mum - She also doesn't like most of her friends. Although OPs story is far calmer than most of these friend stories on MN.

It's a burger OP. Don't sweat it.

Andthereyougo · 17/04/2024 18:57

Weird and bit disgusting. Passing food around taking bites and then expecting someone to eat the left overs…🤮 no one touches Joey’s food , or mine.

neilyoungismyhero · 17/04/2024 19:03

@memyselfi - the OP's partner didn't refuse it, he didn't get the chance after the lady friend took a bite and then offered it to her partner and other friend!

DysmalRadius · 17/04/2024 19:04

Did your partner finish the sloppy...fifths?

BirthdayRainbow · 17/04/2024 19:09

I don't get the feeling that @knowledgeablyclueless DH did eat what was left after everyone else had had a bite.

Gymnopedie · 17/04/2024 19:09

OP did it even get back to your DP? Although he probably didn't want it after that anyway.

She knew he was going to have it by the can I have a bite first.

This can't have come out of nowhere. How else is she a CF/tight?

EatCrow · 17/04/2024 19:14

burnttoad · 17/04/2024 11:39

Why would it be binned? OP offered it to her DP who said yes. It wasn't being binned. Fuck people are weird on MN. It wasn't going spare anymore. It was now OPs DPs

It would seem some posters are being deliberately obtuse, just for the arseholeness.

Zooeyzo · 17/04/2024 19:19

Next time just stick it on his plate. Or just cut a bit for your friend to try.

Jk8 · 17/04/2024 19:26

IncompleteSenten · 17/04/2024 11:53

Yabu OP.

When you offered your spaghetti to your daughter and she said no thanks, it would only have gone to waste if your father hadn't said he'd have it.

It was kind of your father to then offer the rest of it to the stranger dressed in the clown suit sitting at the next table and I'm not sure why you're even mentioning the horse you had tied up at the bar, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with anything.

Nailed it 😂 you win the award for the best mumsnet reading between the lines award

Cantrushart · 17/04/2024 19:30

...or

You were all splitting the bill, you and DH ordered a huge starter while everyone else went straight to mains. They all finished and had to watch you two ploughing through your vast quantities of food. DH was lining up your leftovers as a little something extra before you worked your way through the desert menu. Friend decides to put a stop to your over-consumption and also speed the meal along. 🤔

Seasonofthesticks · 17/04/2024 19:35

Jeez it’s a second hand half eaten burher, who cares?!
