To think my friend shouldn't have eaten my burger?

Out for dinner a couple of nights ago.

Me and DP, friend and her BF, and another friend.

All paying for our own food.

I ordered a burger but didn't finish it all, so offered it to DP. He said Yes please, but let me finish mine first.

Immediately after that, friend said 'Oh could I try a bite first?' - she ate about half of what was left, then proceeded to offer it to her DP, and when he said no, our friend.

AIBU to think this was fucking weird? Me and DP were both a bit like, Erm, wtf to say something at the time!

This is the most reaching post ever to try and kick an OP. 😂

Get a life.

For fuck's sake not trying to kick the OP just giving my opinion.

Get a life yourself. 🙄

justanotherrandomperson · 17/04/2024 17:47

It's weird. Weird enough that I'd not worry about being overly polite if by some strange turn of events something like this were to happen again. Tell her the burger is already spoken for, sorry!

LuckySantangelo35 · 17/04/2024 16:23

Why the fuck are none of you bothered about germs?!

Have you never kissed anyone? How is it any different to that?

It absolutely is reaching, the worst I've ever seen on a thread and I've been here for a hundred years 😂

I can't imagine being so mean spirited as to only offer my unwanted food to my DH and not my friends

Well you've clearly led a very sheltered life if you think that's a kicking.

In fairness, unless the OP regularly attends orgies, she’s probably unlikely to be swapping saliva with three or four people in the space of an evening, like this burger.

Kangarude · 17/04/2024 17:54

This is the funniest thread I’ve read in ages. I literally have tears running down my face. I don’t know if it’s the ridiculousness of the original post or the fact that other posters are falling out with each other! Love it
It must have been a massive burger. Why didn’t you just say DP’s having it when your friend picked it up?

StedeBonnet · 17/04/2024 17:58

It's a mostly eaten leftover bit of burger. Who cares who eats it. The things people choose to get worked up about amaze me sometimes.

It was a close relative of the Mn chicken.

Personally , I never kiss anyone if they're not eating a burger

Depending on the quality of the guests, the burger might be a better bet than the orgy…

Are you new here? That's a well known Mumsnet phrase for when people make up scenarios (like you did), just to give the OP a 'kicking'.

ForestForever · 17/04/2024 18:07

Ohlookwhoitis · 17/04/2024 17:39

I would guess that these are the people who are nightmares in real life to deal with. If you don't agree with them they become a victim. Hence the if you don't agree with me then you mustn't like me nonsense.

I think you’re most probably correct in your assumptions. What a way to live.

Moonlightdust · 17/04/2024 18:09

I find it weird that people don’t find it weird asking friends to have a bite of their half eaten meal. Yuck 🤢

louderthan · 17/04/2024 18:10

I couldn't deal with all that pawing of food and offering it to other people to eat. It all sounds a bit grim.
(Disclaimer: I have some quite complex issues around germs/contamination)

Exactly. All that fuss over someone's sloppy seconds.

louderthan · 17/04/2024 18:13

It was a close relative of the MN chicken....

Not to mention the massive salad.

OhSighAgain · 17/04/2024 13:29

I think it's a bit rude that you only offered the burger to your husband and not the rest of the table.

I wouldn't have done what your friend did but maybe she was trying to make a point about your rudeness.

Huh???

sandyhappypeople · 17/04/2024 18:16

Ohlookwhoitis · 17/04/2024 17:45

FFS what is wrong with people? Of course the OP isn't happy about it HENCE THE EFFING THREAD ABOUT IT!

jeez calm down! OP/OPs DH happily gave it the friend to have a bite of.. the bit they are not happy about is that she didn't give it back for him to finish.

People are rightly grossed out by the fact that OPs DH would let their friend put their hands on it and 'have a bite of it' before receiving it back to eat the remainder of it, I think it's grim.. and so do a few others on here by the looks of it!

I don't think it's weird.

Seriously....op offered her partner food....he wanted it....friend grabbed it ate half and then handed it to someone else....I don't want to eat at yours

Where did the OP say her DH was happy to eat it after the friend munched on it?

HotChocolateNotCocoa · 17/04/2024 17:47

Because you don't normally go around snogging your friends? I'd share food with my DH or children but I wouldn't want a friends leftover burger when they had held it in their hands and made full mouth contact with it!

DrusillaPaddock · 17/04/2024 18:23

Yeah it's weird and rude. Your husband had already said he'd have it. I'd assume she had worms or FOMO or both 😆

HotChocolateNotCocoa · 17/04/2024 18:24

Because you don't normally go around snogging your friends?

No, but unless you’ve lived a very sheltered life, you’ve probably had the odd late night game of tonsil tennis before you got married.

sandyhappypeople · 17/04/2024 18:26

Ohlookwhoitis · 17/04/2024 18:19

Where did the OP say her DH was happy to eat it after the friend munched on it?

She described it in the OP and then later on confirmed it:

Yes because she said "Can I try some FIRST?"

I thought she would take one bite and hand it back, not then pass it round the table like a hot potato

the bit they are annoyed about is the fact she didn't give it back for her DH to finish.
