Prostitute checked into our hotel!

Ok, so away in London for a couple of days with DH and DD (10). We were staying in a 4* Hotel which is part of a large chain of hotels, not a small independent. We went to reception about 10.30 on the 2nd morning and was met with a lady (who was very obviously a prostitute) being told her room would be ready in 5 mins and her handing over £100 in cash to the receptionist. The hotel is £250+ a night and check in is 3pm!

AIBU to this this made the hotel feel a bit icky and sleazy after I saw that? Husband and I spoke briefly when DD wasn’t listening and he said “well they have to work somewhere!”. Not sure if I’m turning into a prude in my old age, but I really didn’t feel comfortable in the hotel after I saw that. I’m sure for her, it was a safe and comfortable place to work and I know this goes on in hotels, I suppose just seeing it in broad daylight shocked me a bit. We knew what she was there for, the receptionist knew what she was there for, the man behind us in the queue knew what she was there for, maybe I thought she and the hotel should have been a bit more discreet if they allow this to go on in their hotel, especially when it’s a family friendly hotel and there were a lot of children around?

Not very many years ago I was a prostitute. I was trafficked into it and very often was delivered by the man forcing me, to the hotels of men who had answered the advert made for me.

I was always dressed in nice normal going out type clothes because the last thing my man wanted was attention being drawn to me.

She paid £100 as she counted it out in £10 notes as she gave it to the receptionist. I don’t want to get into a discussion about you shouldn’t judge a women by what she was wearing etc, let’s just say it was very obvious that she was a prostitute hiring room for the day. This was 10.30am in the morning, not the night.

Who cares if she was. There won’t be a single hotel anywhere where this isn’t happening.

Augustus40 · 13/04/2024 17:56

I do not see why posters are assuming there will be jizz all over the hotel room. I am sure an independent escort would be capable of taking kitchen roll along with her.

I also do not see why families with children would be a
affected in the least as the sex would be going on in her hotel room. Nobody would be copulating in front of reception for all to see.

Am now wondering whether I have ever gone out looking "obviously " like a sex worker. I do like a bit of leopard print and have often wore fishnets?!!

Fur coat, bare legs, ankle chain, smoking in the street, red patent heels and standing outside the shop. According to my nan.

littleroundcircle · 13/04/2024 17:57

If it was part of a large hotel chain, I doubt very much they let people book rooms for half a day at £100.

newyearsresolurion · 13/04/2024 17:58

If she was a prostitute then your problem is?

So glad that women are judging other women by what they are wearing and making decisions about their profession.

Was she harming you or your family? Not sure why you’re bothered enough to post here.

JMSA · 13/04/2024 17:59

She is doing you no harm whatsoever.

MorningSunshineSparkles · 13/04/2024 18:00

I think you can pay extra for early check in, perhaps that’s what this woman was doing? Most prostitutes try to avoid looking like the stereotype so you’re really just judging a woman that was dressed in a way you didn’t approve of.

ginasevern · 13/04/2024 18:00

OK, let's say she was in fact a sex worker. What about it? How was this going to impact your 10 year old or all the other apparently clean living families at the hotel? She wasn't plying her trade in reception. There's probably people snorting coke and doing god knows what behind closed doors, especially in higher end hotels and in a major city. I don't see what your problem is.

@BouleDeSuif I'm so sorry you went through that Flowers

penjil · 13/04/2024 18:03

Stop clutching your pearls.

What she is doing is one of the oldest professions in the world.

She is having sex, and people in hotel rooms do this, the world over.

You can, but a lot of hotels offer a specific day rate for 9-5 or thereabouts - I've booked this at the Doubletree in Victoria when I was coming in on an early long haul flight from Gatwick, had meetings later and my booked hotel didn't check in until 3pm.

Without it I would have been sleep deprived to the point of insanity, stressed as hell and grotty as fuck, plus I would have had to wander around London in that state for roughly five hours. I can't recommend it enough Smile

willWillSmithsmith · 13/04/2024 17:31

I’ve stayed there. Does it have a reputation? I didn’t like the bathroom set up, one of those all glass things inside the bedroom.

Yup. It’s rather blinging isn’t it! The outfits are something to behold, especially on a Friday evening. Were you there over a weekend? Imagine that’s probably peak flow in terms of trashy vibes.

Topsyturvy78 · 13/04/2024 18:04

Bit judgemental of you to assume she's a prostitute. 🤔🙄

Stressfordays · 13/04/2024 18:05

I'm friends with a couple of sex workers. They look like nice, normal people. No hanging red lights so scarlet letters pinned to their chests. They never pay for their own hotel rooms either. Their booking does.

BouleDeSuif · 13/04/2024 18:05

@MorningSunshineSparkles thank you, life is very much better these daysSmile

ByUmberViewer · 13/04/2024 18:06

lotsofpeoplenametheirswords · 13/04/2024 17:05

Why, what did they do to you?

Would you have preferred loads of young couples having dirty sex in the hotel rooms? Would that have been ok? Or it it because they were getting paid to have what would have been exactly the same outcome? Because it makes no difference to you.

I'm a snob. When I pay £500 a night to pay in a hotel I want to be surrounded by classy rich people - people who dress expensively and can afford expensive meals and cocktails. It's all about the ambience.

I don't want to be surrounded by prostitutes. if I wanted that, I'd go and hang in Kings Cross. And save my £500

SocksAndTheCity · 13/04/2024 18:06

I'm guessing that's because your sex worker friends ARE nice, normal people @Stressfordays , as are mine. Who would have thought it? Smile

Someone I know was playing in his band in Altrincham recently when an announcement was made there was free cocaine in the toilets. Said the place just made a bee line for those toilets. Just shows how common that vice is. Might even have been a prostitute/sex worker there. Personally I was shocked at the acceptance that the coke was free and that people assumed it was cocaine not rat poison or laxatives. Let's not forget prostitution is the worlds oldest profession supposedly.

StopStartStop · 13/04/2024 18:07

There are prostituted women everywhere.

Devilsmommy · 13/04/2024 18:08

GodZilah · 13/04/2024 15:18

Also prostitution related or not that hotel room will be covered in jizz regardless.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

SocksAndTheCity · 13/04/2024 18:09

Do you seriously think that no prostitutes can afford expensive meals, clothes and cocktails, @ByUmberViewer ?

I mean, normal I'm not so sure of 🤣 but they're not weirder then me who has a 'respectable' job but earns far far less then them 🤣
