Do any of you go out without a bra?

lattekim23 · 13/04/2024 15:00

I'd definitely feel more comfortable physically without it, but I know people would stare and some, for sure, would see me inappropriately. That would make me even more uncomfortable than wearing a bra. Most days I wear a bra though, when it comes to the evening it comes off, and it's the best feeling in the world! Has anyone else found a way to feel comfortable and supported without a bra, or am I stuck choosing between comfort and what people think?

I never wear a bra. I go out without a bra every single day!

GladAllOver · 14/04/2024 11:07

C cup and I don't wear one, don't understand why I should have to.

Every human female and male has nipples, why is it a crime to show the outline of them?

Oblomov24 · 14/04/2024 11:49

Don't at home. Have to at work, and have actually been wearing pads aswell to stop any nipples showing. All a right pain.

Whowhatwherewhenwhy1 · 14/04/2024 11:50

No my tits are massive and down to my knees without one 😂. Too uncomfortable and noone else needs to have to see that!

It's not a crime but I don't want my colleagues staring at my nipples during a meeting.

Abstractthinking · 14/04/2024 12:00

No. Only for sleeping.

Masks don’t stop you breathing and nor do bras? Weird take.

I didnt say bras stopped you breathing i said IF I HAD TO BE UNCOMFORTABLE IN ONE PLACE I WANTED TO BE COMFORTABLE IN ANOTHER. I REFUSED TO BE UNCOMFORTABLE IN TWO PLACES TO PLEASE OTHER FUCKERS

Why do you wear one for sleeping if you don't need one during the day?

kitsuneghost · 14/04/2024 13:38

I rarely wear one and I am big chested
The rare occasion I do, it's a crop top one
I don't particularly care what others think, they are a natural part of my body that don't need squished in or pushed up or restrained and they are still covered appropriately

Revelatio · 14/04/2024 13:42

I haven’t worn one since lockdown. I’ve not really thought about it since! I have one very loose top that wear a crop top under but apart from that I don’t really see the point.

What is "empowering" about not wearing a bra?

I don't get it.

Me neither @RampantIvyConfused It's much more comfortable wearing a bra outside the house/when I go out. I don't wear one around the house/when I'm gardening, but anywhere away from the property I wear one. I find it so bizarre that so many posters on here claim to never wear a bra. They must have very small breasts (or none at all.)

As I said earlier in the thread, I have quite large breasts, and going out without a bra is not an option. It would be too uncomfortable, and I would feel really self-conscious. I don't have droopy or saggy boobs, and they're decent for my age (50-ish,) especially seeing as how I breast-fed 2 babies. But I would still never go without a bra away from the house. It's not 'liberating' or 'empowering' (for me.) Plus, my nipples would keep rubbing against what I was wearing, which I would fine hugely irritating! How can people possibly be comfortable NEVER wearing a bra? Confused

I think the 'free the boobs' brigade who say it's 'empowering' to go without a bra all the time, are the same lot who insist women should 'embrace the grey!' I'm never gonna do that either!

I am baffled at all the people saying 'I don't care what people think about me not wearing a bra.' I doubt very much that anyone cares.

StormingNorman · 14/04/2024 14:34

If I had small boobs or fake boobs I would NEVER wear a bra. Alas, I was ‘blessed’ and I need the support to give my shoulders a break.

bradpittsbathwater · 14/04/2024 14:43

I feel like men stare at my chest enough. Without a bra would be even worse. I'd feel quite uncomfortable.

MrBigsCat · 14/04/2024 15:16

I do and I have stick on nipple covers to stop my pointy nipples being on show.
I also have some nice soft crop tops from Amazon that offer a little more protection but also with the freedom of being braless

TequilaSunsets · 14/04/2024 16:04

@SabreIsMyFave I wouldn't describe it as empowering (I find that whole concept bizarre) but if you are basically flat, as I am, it's just some tight elastic round your ribcage for no real reason. I wear a sports crop top thing when I'm running, but otherwise a bra is an uncomfortable annoyance which adds nothing to my life. Perhaps my boobs would look more shapely in a padded one, but at the age of 42 I'm just not fussed. I embrace my gamine look. I totally see that bras are useful if you have bigger boobs.

Twistie · 14/04/2024 16:14

No, I’d never leave the house without wearing one and I don’t find them uncomfortable either.

When I was 15 I got shingles which affected my skin around one side of my bra line and underneath a breast and I was unable to wear a bra; I was so self-conscious and uncomfortable, even though I had to stay at home anyway.

theonlygirl · 14/04/2024 16:16

Christ alive, not with these saggy, lopsided melons I need the bra straps to even me out for a start.

GladAllOver · 14/04/2024 17:11

I don't find being without a bra 'empowering', it's just my natural state.

RobinEllacotStrike · 14/04/2024 20:43

Wearing this dress - yes. Incredible I can do this. It's wonderful to wear.

RampantIvy · 13/04/2024 15:01

I feel "undressed" without one even though I don't actually need to wear one.
I don't find them uncomfortable either.

Absolutely agree. Also, if your bra is uncomfortable, you may be wearing the wrong bra or the wrong size. It's work getting properly measured and sized and find the right shape.

IWantOut29 · 14/04/2024 20:52

I hate wearing bra's and Its a very rare occasion that I will. I just hate them, their awful to wear

I've always been very flat chested though so havnt ever needed to. I'd say I'm not even an A cup. I can put a finger underneath my 'boob' and see the end of it 😂

Iamacatslave · 14/04/2024 20:57

Nope.

CaribouCarafe · 15/04/2024 10:58

I think even with the right size bra and shape bras wills still be uncomfortable if you don't like tight fitted clothing. I just hate the feeling of anything tight or close to my skin, but will put up with it for a do or function or work etc (and promptly disrobe once I'm home!). I'm small chested though (28C/D)
