Do any of you go out without a bra?

I'd definitely feel more comfortable physically without it, but I know people would stare and some, for sure, would see me inappropriately. That would make me even more uncomfortable than wearing a bra. Most days I wear a bra though, when it comes to the evening it comes off, and it's the best feeling in the world! Has anyone else found a way to feel comfortable and supported without a bra, or am I stuck choosing between comfort and what people think?

32D, never wear them at home (I’ve practically taken it off before I even walk in the door), and don’t wear one out and about if I’m wearing a loose jumper. I would always wear one under just a shirt or top though.

I find them horribly uncomfortable (yes, I’m wearing the right size), I hate the feeling of something around my ribcage. I also hate waistbands that feel restrictive (if I wore a size up they’d be falling down so it’s not a case of having the wrong size) and tops that feel tight around the shoulders and armpits.

I'd love to not have to wear one outside, but I have to. I'm an E cup and they'd wobble around too much for comfort. Not to mention that I wouldn't want people gawping at my wobbly knockers as I was going about my business.

I also love taking the bastard off when I get home. Sometimes I feel physically sick from the pressure of the band on my stomach.

Why is the band on your stomach?

Madagascary · 13/04/2024 16:27

I had a boob reduction and lost 2.5 kg of droopy tit

i can now go without but I prefer the shape with

if bras are uncomfy you’ve got the wrong one.

wendywoopywoo222 · 13/04/2024 16:32

I'm jealous of anyone who can get away without wearing one.

My H cups are bloody uncomfortable without one.

Tarquina · 13/04/2024 16:35

90% of the time I now do not wear one just fed up with the faffing of putting it on and taking off and I feel far more comfortable without one at all. Probably 10% of the time or less on a whim I'll just suddenly put one on for no reason at all.

I might be more inclined to wear one in the summer because with the lighter, thinner blouses somebody might actually be able to notice that I'm not wearing one and heaven forbid my nipples might show haha

Tarquina · 13/04/2024 16:36

Perhaps I should mention I am a 46 c

Madagascary · 13/04/2024 16:36

I was the same before my operation. The minute I got up in the morning bra on

part of a reduction is a lift ..

I know that apparently most women find bras very uncomfortable and whip them off as soon as they get home but I've never understood why. I don't feel like that at all. Is it only a problem you have if you have large breasts I have smallish/medium breasts and would feel more uncomfortable without a bra.
I never feel the need to take it off at home either. I genuinely don't notice I'm wearing one (but would notice not wearing one).

No. My bras were comfy when I was a 34F
i still have shoulder dents tho

Hellohihola · 13/04/2024 16:41

Never wear one!

CaraMiaMonCher · 13/04/2024 16:43

I sometimes go out without one, depends what I’m doing/wearing. Chilled day in a baggy tee/sweatshirt - probs wouldn’t wear one. Or a night out in a top that didn’t allow for one, wouldn’t wear one either.

I had a breast lift/reduction last year, so they do a pretty good job of keeping themselves where they need to be - though still a 30G. I have only worn underwire about 15 times in the 16 months since I had them done. Usually stick to the soft elasticated sports bra/crop top/bralette things.

Grapewrath · 13/04/2024 16:45

I’m slim with small boobs so often go without. If I’m wearing a fitted top I’ll wear a soft bralette
i will never wear a bra again!

HoHoHoliday · 13/04/2024 16:51

I stopped wearing a bra at the beginning of lockdown and just never went back to it. I'm significantly more comfortable and couldn't care less what other people think. The only time a bra goes on now is if I'm wearing something see-through, and then it's a more comfortable sports-style bra rather than a grippy tight wired contraption.

Ioverslept · 13/04/2024 16:56

I only wear one for work and the occasional times when a particularly dress would not look good without the uplift. It usually comes off as soon as I get home (sometimes even in the car). I don't notice people staring, but I often find a compromise in wearing a vest with thin straps, gives a bit if support and extra warmth.

CaribouCarafe · 13/04/2024 17:00

I have quite aggressive nipples, so only go out without a bra if you can't see any hint of nipple outline in my outfit (e.g. thick jumper/dungarees covering). I've tried nipple covers but they get sweaty in summer. So basically just wear a bra mostly to remove the nipple outline.

Ethylred · 13/04/2024 17:10

@CaribouCarafe 😂at your quite aggressive nipples.

these from bravissimo are comfortable for those with larger boobs who don’t want to go completely braless

BobbyBiscuits · 13/04/2024 17:19

I've been so much more comfortable since ditching the bra. I haven't worn one since I stopped working 6 years ago. I used to get horrific costocondritis for 6 weeks at a time at least once a year. Now, nada!
I've quite small breasts, so I guess if they were bigger it might feel less comfortable. I feel they are sagging a bit more though, but it's a happy price to pay for comfort!

They really maintain their eye contact with whoever is near proximity

idontlikealdi · 13/04/2024 16:27

Why is the band on your stomach?

It's not on my waist but it pushes on my ribcage and that pressure makes me feel sick after a while.

It's definitely the right size. I've cried in enough bra shops in my time to know. I don't know if it's because I've got a very small chest with disproportionately large boobs making it worse or what.

I'd love to just wear a soft crop top but they're too heavy for that.

BogRollBOGOF · 13/04/2024 17:37

I sometimes CBA to put one on if I'm having a casual mooching day. I'm small at 30C so perfectly comfortable for general activity without support. If not in a sports bra, I mainly wear moulded, padded bras for a neater shape. I sometimes go without in hot weather rather than wearing sweaty foam.

DoesNotPlayWellWithIdiots · 13/04/2024 17:44

Thankfully I'm quite small in the boobage department so go without a bra whenever I can. I find them extremely uncomfortable and it pisses me off no end when I have to keep hoiking the straps up! I wear cropped bra tops, sports bras or strappy t-shirts with a modesty panel.

Oh you mean they're sluts!

TwelveAngryWhiskers · 13/04/2024 18:17

Are there any sports bras/supportive crop top type things that are easy to get over your head? I have a very problematic shoulder and every bralette I've tried has been impossible for me. I don't really want one that clips at the back as it defeats the comfort element.
