Do any of you go out without a bra?

I'd definitely feel more comfortable physically without it, but I know people would stare and some, for sure, would see me inappropriately. That would make me even more uncomfortable than wearing a bra. Most days I wear a bra though, when it comes to the evening it comes off, and it's the best feeling in the world! Has anyone else found a way to feel comfortable and supported without a bra, or am I stuck choosing between comfort and what people think?

E/F cup here. Never wear wired bras, only soft cup or bralette. Find them perfectly comfy.

GogAndMagog · 13/04/2024 15:19

I wear a bandeau bra in bed, so comfortable, and crop tops otherwise.

I like to feel supported,

DappledThings · 13/04/2024 15:21

I can't even feel that I'm wearing one. Never had the desire to strip it off as soon as I get home or felt anything particularly exciting about taking it off.

Apart from a couple of ill-fitting ones where they rubbed at the bit just below my armpit but not generally.

dudsville · 13/04/2024 15:21

I do, often, including to work, but I'm only a C cup, and if I concentrate whilst walking I can greatly minimise the jiggle (but I have never learned what muscles those are). Also, patterned tops (I wear a lot of checks/plaids/gingham) create a helpful distraction. I'd never go braless in a plain top, or knit. Another trick is a layer of vest top underneath whatever top I'm wearing.

I'm pretty sure my SIL never wears a bra! And having looked at the photos from Ladies Day at Aintree racecourse yesterday there were certainly a few there without bras on.

dudsville · 13/04/2024 15:22

I wear the sloggi-go-all-round to the gym.

Back when I was 34A, I used to sometimes if the outfit had enough structural support on top. Now I’m 36B after having and breastfeeding two kids, and I only do if I’m leaving the house for a quick errand and I’m wearing a coat.

Someone I knew in college was fairly large-chested and never wore a bra. It was uncomfortable talking to her because I could usually see her nipples through her shirt, and I felt like I was running the risk of being seen as inappropriate if I even glanced anywhere below her face. (We’re both bisexual women; not sure if straight women would feel that concern.)

I have DDs and dropped bras during covid/wfh and didn't put them back on until recently when I had to interview for a new job. Bought some plain no underwires ones and am wearing them to work but dog walking and at home it's nice not to - I do wear vest tops with one of those shelf support things instead though

Thepeopleversuswork · 13/04/2024 15:36

Personally I never do anything without a bra on because I don’t feel comfortable without one. But I don’t see the problem with others doing it.

Flocke · 13/04/2024 15:42

I go bra less as often as possible. I don't wear one to work as I have at least 2 layers on so no one can tell.
If I'm popping out like shopping and will keep a coat/hoody on at all times then I don't.
I never wear one if I'm just at home.
Only if I'm going out out or it's summer and I only have one layer on will I bother.
But I'm only 34b so I can get away with it easier than others.

cakecoffeecakecoffee · 13/04/2024 15:45

I live in Molke bras - so comfy!

I'm 38JJ and they’re not a pretty sight when let loose, and not comfy with under the boob sweat etc.

TequilaSunsets · 13/04/2024 15:51

32A, literally haven't worn one in 10 years. I'm 42. Sometimes wear a crop top for work if I'm wearing a fitted top made of thin material. But it's not necessary under a shirt as long as it's not white or sheer.

newyearnewknees · 13/04/2024 15:53

Yes, quite often (outside of work). Most of my going out tops aren't compatible with a bra.

Lupin61 · 13/04/2024 15:55

I never wear one but I have c cups and don’t wear tight tops

TedMullins · 13/04/2024 16:00

Yes, I rarely wear bras these days and underwired. It does depend on the top I’m wearing though, if it’s sheer I’ll wear one but otherwise no. I don’t have big boobs though

sanityisamyth · 13/04/2024 16:02

dementedpixie · 13/04/2024 15:02

My boobs would be down at my knees if I didn't wear a bra. Plus I'd get horrible under boob sweat. I'm 36GG and my bras feel comfortable on

This! 34J here and I'd end up knocking myself out! My boobs are bigger than my head 🙈

Zanatdy · 13/04/2024 16:04

No I never leave the house without a bra and can’t imagine I would. I wouldn’t feel more comfortable either I’d feel less comfortable

Beatrixslobber · 13/04/2024 16:04

I would but have quite small boobs so not sure if anyone would notice 😂

princessbeetroot · 13/04/2024 16:12

All the time.

I had surgery on my chest last year and couldn't wear one for months, even now I can only tolerate one for the odd day and I can't wear underwires so just use a soft crop top. I've just got used to it now and actually feel weird if I wear one.

I do wear one if I'm wearing a thinner top or something white and when doing sports, but other than that I don't bother. It's quite liberating but I'm only a B cup so my boobs don't need lots of support anyway.

Janetime · 13/04/2024 16:15

No and I have taken to wearing sleep bras when at home during the day, as they are so comfy , give you a decent shape and give decency as well. I don’t think braless is a great look for most women to be honest.

vincettenoir · 13/04/2024 16:15

No. But I like to even wear bras for bed (comfy non underwired ones). I'm not really busty or anything. Just prefer to wear something under my clothes.

bryceQ · 13/04/2024 16:16

I don't wear one loads with a fitted vest I'm a DD/E but appreciate I probably couldn't if they were bigger. I wear quite soft ones day to day too. Underwired rarely.

orangeleopard · 13/04/2024 16:18

I’m 27 and haven’t wore a bra since I was 21. At that age I had a bit of a breast cancer scare where my breast would balloon and be painful and I stopped wearing a bra for that reason. Luckily it was a benign cyst that was removed but from that moment I just stopped wearing bras. I don’t have big boobs anyway and have inverted nipples so it’s definitely everything in my favour to not wear a bra😂😂

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 13/04/2024 16:19

No, 38HH so not an option 😭

wplaf · 13/04/2024 16:20

I do, every day.
