Do any of you go out without a bra?

I'd definitely feel more comfortable physically without it, but I know people would stare and some, for sure, would see me inappropriately. That would make me even more uncomfortable than wearing a bra. Most days I wear a bra though, when it comes to the evening it comes off, and it's the best feeling in the world! Has anyone else found a way to feel comfortable and supported without a bra, or am I stuck choosing between comfort and what people think?

My boobs would be down at my knees if I didn't wear a bra. Plus I'd get horrible under boob sweat. I'm 36GG and my bras feel comfortable on

I am 30jj and I think if I didn't wear one if would be a genuine health and safety hazard. I used to find bras extremely uncomfortable until I got the right size. now I wear them all the time including to sleep (non wired sleep bra).

obv the lucky ladies who are blessed with smaller boobs don't really need bras and

RampantIvy · 13/04/2024 18:33

It seems like there aren't many of us underendowed women on MN.

BloodandGlitter · 13/04/2024 18:39

I'm a G cup and I do sometimes. I don't give a damn if they're heading for my knees sometimes it's too hot or I just don't feel like it. I'm not decorating my temple for anyone but myself.

TheNurdnugget · 13/04/2024 18:51

Nope breast cancer took my E cups and I didn't fancy implants or Frankenstein surgery so I'm as flat as the day I was born. Don't miss the boob sweat but do remember the pure relief of taking a bra off at the end of the day.

Cucamelons · 13/04/2024 19:08

I had BA surgery a few years ago and am an F cup, I go braless everywhere except work (school) if my nipples offend anyone that’s not my problem, I’m comfortable and after years of stuffing myself into uncomfortable wonderbras with chicken fillets it’s a relief and empowering

Oh you mean they're sluts!

100%!

I'm a DD cup and am just not comfortable without a bra. The bras I wear are underwired but very comfy, if your bra is a pain to wear your band is probably too tight.

TeenLifeMum · 13/04/2024 20:13

I’m really uncomfortable without a bra - 34GG. I keep meaning to buy sleep bras as the maternity ones I had were great. I’m aware I’m in the minority but removing my bra doesn’t bring relief at all.

underscorer · 13/04/2024 20:14

V jealous of those with small and perky enough boobs to go without. I don't mind wearing bras at all but I wish I could buy a shirt that fitted both my waist and my chest. They're either gaping at the chest or like tents. A B cup would be so much more elegant.

Boobs a bit big here. Sorry about the stealth brag. They're not droopy or floppy but they're not PERT either (I am 50-ish!) So I would be quite uncomfortable with no bra. I mean I don't wear one around the house/in the garden, but when I go out yeah.

Pigeonqueen · 13/04/2024 20:15

I’m a 36G and I can’t stand bras. Since I stopped work 10 years ago (due to medical reasons, not age) I’ve just become scruffier and less caring about my appearance- having always worked in super smart office roles, wearing bras and suits everyday. Now I just wear a stretchy crop top and don’t care about the wobble. The times I’ve tried to wear bras again it’s like torture. I think people probably do stare at me sometimes but if I look round lots of other people are either in the same boat or look a state in different ways so I’ve simply stopped caring now.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 13/04/2024 20:18

I buy soft padded bras with elastic along the bottom rather than wires but I don't wear one at home or if I'm just out for a walk or shopping as long as I have a sweatshirt or jacket on . Always wore one in the workplace and would wear going out anywhere and also for the walk/supermarket if I just have a tee shirt on - unless it is really hot - but that's more likely to be in a holiday resort where others are similarly dressed/.undressed .

SecondHandFurniture · 13/04/2024 20:20

Just giving a cup size to explain why one does or doesn't wear one doesn't say much - e.g. a 30DD is very different in appearance and weight to a 38DD.

I'm a 32FF and always wear one during the day. They hurt if I lean forward without.

Theothername · 13/04/2024 20:21

I don’t bother in spring and autumn when I’m wearing layers and it’s not obvious. A bit more cautious in summer, and it’s an extra thermal layer in winter.

Exactly.
I wear a 32D, but I'm pretty flat chested.

A 38D would be huge.

labamba007 · 13/04/2024 20:27

This is why I love winter, big coat no bra. No one knows (well at least I think they don't!)

RampantIvy · 13/04/2024 20:28

What is "empowering" about not wearing a bra?

I don't get it.

Perfect28 · 13/04/2024 20:36

I wear a bra to work but that's about it.

Garlicked · 13/04/2024 20:36

Yes, all the time. I don't care if people can see that I've got nipples. They tend to be evident in a bra, anyway, unless it's got those formed foam cups. I hasten to add I'm talking about the shape, not actually showing my nipples! I wear a bra with transparent tops - I don't mind young women leaving theirs visible, though, and used to do so myself, before my boobs went wobbly.

Riverlee · 13/04/2024 20:39

If I’m at home, I’m frequently bra-less, and if I’m popping out to the shops with jumper and coat on, I won’t bother putting one on.

However, during summer, when working etc I ‘ll always wear a bra. Don’t want my nipple shapes showing through - seems indecent (and I’m fairly flat chested).

Lifestooshort71 · 13/04/2024 20:41

I'm a b cup and never wear a bra now. I had a mastectomy in '22 and live lopsided - I wear a nipple cover if I feel the occasion warrants it.

LadyDaisy42 · 13/04/2024 20:44

I couldn't go completely braless but I stopped wearing underwire bras after my second baby.

meganorks · 13/04/2024 20:51

God no! I feel uncomfortable without one. And no one needs to see these puppies flapping about!

Could you not wear those crop top type ones?

I'm the same size, can you recommend comfortable bras? Mine are never really comfortable.

Mossstitch · 13/04/2024 20:59

@Myfluffyblanket me too, started wearing shorts type pants to avoid the elastic around the legs. I have found bras that are bareable which might suit you at sainsburys, they are for D+ cup and double thickness cotton for about £10. Look more like a crop top in grey, black or white, but very supportive, still comes off as soon as I'm through the door though😌
