Someone threatened my allotment.

I was sat in my allotment, minding my own business, having just potted some beansprouts and some mad couple come bowling over to me demanding I move my chair and leave their allotment!

I'd only just settled in with my voddy & orange in a Stanley Cup and a copy of Take A Break.

Weather was 19° and not muddy at all.

They said its their land! I said it bloody ruddy is not, I've been here 10 years and I put this bloody ruddy shed here myself. It cost me £89 from B&Q. And I had to pay someone from the face book £40 to put it up too. In cash!

AIBU to think finders keepers, losers weepers?? If they wanted the land they shouldn't have waited 3 months to come visit, even if it had been pissing it down for months and who in their right mind would bother with checking an allotment in a pissy February right after moving and being ill too?

I'm currently going through my paper bin to find some cardboard to make some signs saying 'Big Barbara's Beansprouts, keep away'
And tonight I'm going hedgehog hunting so I can strategically place the prickly bastards on leads around the perimeter of MY land.

The cheek of some people!

(Dear MNHQ this is satire and for a laugh. For legal reasons I am not in fact Big Barb and have no intentions of tethering hedgehogs. Please don't call the RSPCA)

Crazy thread! It’s made me chuckle.
I think if babs can claim possession on the basis of adverse possession then surely the OP has a case against the seller because they have sold a property that includes the allotment in accordance with the title deeds therefore they should be liable to refund the value of the allotment as it’s been miss sold? I wonder how much babs would care about her dear old friend if said friend was caught in a legal wrangle that meant friend lost money and babs kept the allotment….

It doesn't fit the criteria for adverse possession. At all.

That’s good. Feels wrong that OP should be penalised when she bought the property and it’s clear in her deeds.
It will be disappointing for Babs however she could look at it that she’s had 10 year using a piece of land for free and feel fortunate she had that opportunity.
Poor OP though what an awful position to find herself in - and the previous owner was taken for a ride with the garage and land

Catherhino · 13/04/2024 18:42

Well I have a sense of humour OP, thank you! 🤣🤣
I’ve been very invested in the allotment thread(s)
You can try and fight the interlopers; I’m sure the Take a Break agony aunt will have some sound legal advice for you!

JMSA · 13/04/2024 18:46

Bean sprouts, Barbara?
Get those tatties planted!

Serene135 · 13/04/2024 20:05

I’ve read the other 3 threads on this story (yes it is on part 3 😂) and it’s nice to get ‘Barbara’s side’ on this debacle. I do think though Barbara that it is time to pack up your veggies and move on 🤭😂

KateDelRick · 13/04/2024 20:12

Anyone else think that this Barbara is the OP from the other threads, YaMuvva?.

Yep.

whatsappdoc · 13/04/2024 21:02

Anyone else picturing @BigBarbara as Pam Ferris from Rosemary and Thyme? Good on you Barb for standing your ground.

😂ha ha! Good one!
Maybe it's really Barbara.....😉

Bernardo1 · 13/04/2024 21:39

You're really rather silly.

dhfoody47 · 13/04/2024 21:46

Tickled me! 😂

MumTeacherofMany · 13/04/2024 21:59

Remember how much of a sanctuary your allotment is Barbs. Who cares if they legally own it. That's just a technicality! Tell them to f**k off!

WearyAuldWumman · 12/04/2024 13:46

It gave me a smile.

@LadyWiddiothethird what a joy vacuum you are. Surely you could just read another thread not spoil the fun of those enjoying it. I’ve had a shit of a day, found out some very upsetting news health wise and this thread made me laugh. It’s not exactly hurting anyone is it? 🤷🏻‍♀️

What a jobsworth 🙄🙄🙄

I'm sorry you got some upsetting news, health-wise. My DH (so us) also got some upsetting health news today and decisions need to be made. This thread and the related ones have made me smile and be able to breathe.

I really don't understand the need for some to be killjoys. Do they stand near the booths that feature a picture with Santa and scream at the children, "He's not real! Grow up you silly three-year-old!"?

There are threads that don't pertain to my interests or curiosity, so I skip them. The killjoys/crabby-apples/smile-swipers need to butt out and go touch some grass.

BigBarbara · 12/04/2024 12:00

Wa just trying to be a bit silly and raise a smile :(

And you have succeeded! Ignore the sad sacks whose lives are so very miserable that they feel the need to bring others down to their level.

Luckily, no ladder can go down that far.

Satire is meant to be funny

I am so very sorry that your sense of humour was lost in the last century. Check the attic, as the little bugger has been known to hide where you least expect it!
